what is the base rFactor folder, the main one that everything else is in?
Yes, the folder that contains rfactor.exe itself. I am using the right carpack aren't I? this one "F11979_Demo_MMG"
That's the first thing to install, I then added the physics patch f179demo_update.zip. This is unzipped to the rfactor base folder, e.g. c:\rfactor. This update appears to include the F11979D.rfm file ( this ends up in <base dir>\rfm ) and the mistached renult.hdv. You will find this in <base dir>\gamedata\vehicles\Season1979\Renault You will probably want the sounds patch but you need to extract this into a temp dir as the archive contains an extra directory in the path The other mods on the rfactorcentral page are for gfx features you may or maynot wish to install but shouldn't make any difference for tonight's race

sry to ask picnic, whats the problem with the sound pack, extra dir u say? The rar has everything inside a folder called F179demo_sound update_25.08.06 within that is Gamedata folder and then the various sub folders of new/updated files. If you simply un-rar the file to your game's route folder you will have the initial directory in there and thus all the files in the wrong place.

Defo a scary mod. Feel real and I'm so sure I could just make one lap with the no-damage ON. Will show but I don't expect anything from me but a smash on the first lap. Just hope I'll smash alone. TT

Sorry, I should have been reading the thread more closely, it wasn't the track you had trouble with. The only 2 files you should need are F11979_Demo_MMG.zip or the original executable, and f179demo_update.zip. Install them as Picnic said above and there shouldn't be any problems. As far as I know the graphics and sound updates are optional and shouldn't cause mismatches whether or not they are used.

I really want to race here, but over the last month I have tried about 10-15 times just to cruise around in 2nd/3rd gear and still can't manage to put in a full timed lap before the car is destroyed.

Nice race in the end. I think my practice here showed though. I noticed that all the lads who finished last laps were a great deal faster than their first Well done boys
