Tris and Raoni are close together in the lead.
They want to lap Fulvio before the hairpin.
Blue flags are shown.
Tris passes and Raoni wants to follow close.
Fulvio is aware of Raoni but takes the inside line.
Raoni has no chance to avoid a crash.

Fulvio could have taken the outside of the hairpin without any loss of position.

Season 37 - SC67 - Alfa vs Porsche Cup – Round 1 - Norisring

This race is at the Norisring in Nürnberg, Germany...
As the new Goodwood seems to have produced lots of freezes in the test race! We had no choice but to switch.

Please check the Season 37 details regarding rules and the Alfa vs Porsche Cup pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8

Handicapping
"Works" drivers will carry extra weight in form of 10 gallons of fuel (to remain in the tank after the race).
Drivers are expected to behave in a fair and gentlemanly fashion and declare how much fuel they have left after the race.

In order to ensure there will be 10 gallons of fuel left after the race, the minimum race fuel load for Works is expected to be:
  • Alfa T33 = 23 gallons (87 litres)
  • Porsche = 24 gallons (91 litres)

Two resets will be allowed (there is no need to carry out a Stop and Go in the pit lane if you make a Shift-R).
Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.
Only reported incidents will be moderated.

Hi this is Cookie the mod of Alfa vs Porsche

informing you that we have a collision with other league GPLRACER on Tuesday
and so some people can't race with us or have timing problems.

Friday seems a good evening to race, afaik there are no other leagues racing within hours.

Please give me a short answer if it is ok for you if we switch to friday 20:45 UK time.

Axel "Cookie"

PS
First race would be  17.07.2020

PS
As most driver gave their ok very fast - I did it...

Phew, that was hard work. Very hectic race, no chance to have a rest anywhere on this tiny track. I had a few good battles, particularly with Evil and Doni but I must have thrashed my engine because on about lap 30 I started to lose power. My lap times increased by about a second and I began to lose Doni and Clive. A couple of laps later my engine exploded and I had to take a shift-R. With a full fuel load again (OK only the Privateers fuel load but it was a lot more than I had) I was no match for Fulvio and I lost another place.

From my perspective the extra weight the Works drivers carried was great. I was able to put up a bit of resistance to Clive and Doni which made the race closer and more fun. Good decision Axel  punk

Grats to the podium and to all finishers. Thanks to Axel for a great format, the extra fuel in the PRO cars certainly helped to balance the competition.

I found a few tweaks to my Goodwood setup during qualifying that gained me around 0.5 secs, which is a lot of time around this short track. The only thing that I could not quite sort out was very bad understeer on the exit of the two hairpins, maybe there is some more time to be found with this Alfa?

The start went well and I jumped a place up to 3rd behind Tris and Alain ( allez les bleus!! ), hoping to stay with them in the early laps. That all went wrong at the chicane on the first lap when I locked the brakes on cold tyres and had a spin. That dropped me almost  to the back of the field...so much for great expectations!!
I picked up a few places, but as always, the closer you get towards the front the harder it is to pass faster cars.

Then I came up behind Phil and he was having a really good run...very quick! With my extra fuel load I was struggling to get off the slow corners as quickly as Phil and it took me quite a few laps to wait for an opportunity and find a way past. Then, I did my best to hand the place back to Phil by making several small mistakes and even a spin at one point!!  After I gave myself a stiff talking to, I got my act together and steadily pulled away, especially when Phil had his engine problems.
Towards the end of the race I caught Ziu, but once again, being a few tenths faster and being able to catch a car over several laps is one thing, but then finding the speed to actually make a pass is the difficult thing. For many laps I chased Ziu but I just could not find a chance to go for a pass. The circuit is so short that we were weaving our way through backmarkers which all added to the fun.

Then, after many laps I got a better exit from the final hairpin and got alongside Ziu, allowing me to go down the inside for T1 and make the pass with only 5 laps left to go. I was up to 4th place, which was where I had started the race after all that effort and struggle!!! lol

If this is the quality of racing that we can expect for the rest of the season....bring it on!!

After a decent qualy and some luck in the first laps I was already P4. I lacked some speed to be a real contender for the podium, but I felt comfortable in the car and having my "consistency helmet" on I hoped for a top 6 result, on lead lap. But when I lost a place to Ziu and tried to regain my position, I overdrove the car in the process and popped the engine... After having a long day, I decided to retire.

Congrats Tristan and podium!
Thanks for the server, and thanks for the race guys, might see you next time!

Cheers,
Jani
