They are allowed, I don't think there would be a way to check no setup changes occured anyway.

I have been thinking about only announcing the track say 1hr before the event to keep people from building mega setups (as its a pretty safe bet people aren't using the Elise normal).

Also what do you all think about having a two part race (touring car style), With points awarded for positions for each of the two races, and the winner being the one with the most points. I think 10min Qual, 20min Race, 10min Qual, 20min Race would be a nice format.

What do people think about this idea?

I don't see the problem in announcing the track well before the race, it gives us lesser drivers a bit of much needed practice time!

Set-up's are part of the the skill in GTR so if someone can glean an advantage froma good set-up so be it. Just my 2p's worth.

The format sounds like a great idea, it should be a lot of fun. Different formats races make for interestibg racing!

Out of interest, what have you guys found  good tweaks to start with with the Elise.

I've only driven one once and for about 10 minutes and I seem to rememeber it liked to swap ends bigtime under urgent downshifts. You can't tweak the gears though can you? So the coast diff is pretty important I guess?

I haven't set it up really, but i did find that it's gear ratios (which are fixed) are very different to what we are used to in (N)GT cars.

Your probably just changing down too early, I still keep doing it!

Totally, I feel like I'm helping slow the car down that little bit more. Actually, I'm just de-stabalising the thing a lot!

I'll try and make the race.

Yeah, you have to be very careful not to change down too early in the Elise, just makes it spin.

Increase RPM limit to max.Put on soft tyres, not much else, some minor adjustments to the brake balance and springs etc. I can send anyone my Barc setup if they want it? 1:55.8 although I'm sure i could tweak some more time out of that with a few more minor setup adjustments.

On the spinning on down shifts, basically you need to change your driving style to suit the Elise. Don't down shift till you're way down the revs and it's easiest if you don't actually use 1st gear at all. The Elise is all about corner speed and using all of the track.

Thanks Shark, I'll check those tweaks out.

Btw, Fozz, is that you in your pic? And if it is- why are you wearing a butchers hat from Sainsburys?  Smiley
