NoGrip Legacy HTC Championship 2020
Nurburgring 500kms Endurance
22nd of August, 2020 (SATURDAY)

The one we have waited (read: feared) for. Smiley
So far only 2 guys have reached the 500km boundary in Online GTL races; Nocatu and me. We'll see if get some new names this year to 500km hall of fame. Smiley

NOTICE: this is the second race where car pack update is being used. Download it if you have not already.

Event Info
Track: 70 Nords 1000kms
Track download: *DOWNLOAD*
Allowed Classes: Division 2 AND Division 3 classes.
  • 1000 - 1299cc.
  • 1300 - 1599cc.
  • 1600 - 2000cc.
  • over 2000cc.
Qualifying: 30 minutes, starts at 19:00 BST.
Race: Length 22 laps, starts at approx. 19:30  BST.

Special scoring:
Both DIVISIONS (!!) score points separately.
As this is harder than any other event in season, points per position have been made roughly 2.3 times bigger to give bigger importance to this race.
  • Points per Division placement
    • 23 points for 1st pos in division
    • 21 points for 2nd pos in division
    • 18 points for 3rd pos in division
    • 13 points for 4th pos in division
    • 10 points for 5th pos in division
    • 8 points for 6th pos in division
    • 5 points for 7th pos in division
    • 3 points for 8th pos in division
    • 1 points for 9th pos in division
  • Overall winner of the race scores additional 1.5 points.
  • Each CLASS winner scores an extra point.
  • And same as usual: if you start race in CLASS that you have not driven yet, you score automatically 3 additional points.

Notes
Notice the different qualifying and race start times. The race will take around 3.5 hours. (estimated)
Notice the different scoring system. As this race differs a lot anything else what we race in this championships, the scoring is Division (not class) based. So cars between 1000 - 1599cc run for same points and cars above that run for same points.
I strongly suggest practicing pitstops as well as prepare yourself with something to drink while pitting. This is no childs play and finishing the race will be great thing already.

EDIT: modified points system to award an extra point for each class winner.

As soon as you guys are sure in which Division you are about to start the race, it would be helpful to others if you would  post your division choice. That will give possibility to others (who might be in between two cars) to select division and also make the amount of car better distributed between the Divisions.

I will keep complete list in this post about the divisions. Smiley

Division 2 drivers:  (1000cc - 1599cc)
  • under 1300cc
    • BillThomas
    • PhSpok
  • 1300 - 1600cc
    • Nappe1 (Bellett #9)
    • SpecialKS (Bellett)

Division 3 drivers:  (over 1600cc)
  • 1600 - 2000cc
    • Geoffers
    • Markus
    • Dimitar
  • over 2000cc
    • None

Coming, but not sure yet about the car and/or class:
  • Daz
  • Suti
  • Amerikanmajava
  • Nocatu
  • EvilClive

My wife would kill me if I raced on Saturday's so count me out. Also I don't like Nords enough to do 22 laps there.

Changed a bit more the scoring. Now it will reward winners of each engine class as well with 1 extra point.

I was tempted to try this, and checked that I had the new car pack installed plus the Nords 1000Km circuit in place.

But I get CTD every time I select a car ( I have tried 3 different cars ) and try and join the track and that is OFFLINE, so the chances of success with a server are looking remote??!!!  Undecided

You should run a trace Clive and send Lasse the text file so that he can help you identify the problem.

Thanks for the report in PM, the logfile does not have anything unusual.

There might be problem with your track install. I am using this track all the time and it is running in server fine as well. First thing that comes to my mind is that you might have some other version of 70Nurburgring installed, which is causing troubles. UKGTL did run a race in this track lately? Also, this is exactly the same track we ran last year 500km race and you did start that race, so at least it used to work in your computer...

You might want to delete the track completely and then re-install it.

NOTE: There is known problem some AI drivers/cars causing CTD before they finish full lap, so make sure that you are having private practice.

Thanks Lasse, I will try that solution a little later ..................and report back.  Wink

re-loaded track and deleted old Nord 70 and seems to be OK offline. Will need to check when server is available. Now I am off to negotiate with my wife  blink

Funny thing: Last year my wife planned to watch a bit TV (My gaming computer is in the corner of the living room... erm... and to be honest, our championship server is actually running in the other corner of the living room  Grin) and then go to bed when she feels like it... Well she actually stayed up all the way thru and after the race she said noticing my fastest lap of the race in second to last lap, I wonder if she actually looked more my driving than tv.  Cheesy And that's wierd, because she does not really watch any motorsport... ever.

This race has been marked in our family calendars since season design, so maybe she saws it like the Le Mans of our series. Which means that it's exceptionally special and only once in a year, so it is ok.
...or something.  Cheesy

lol Lasse. My rig and I are banished to the spare bedroom but even then there are comments ( not complaints exactly) the next day about the clunking of the gear change etc.
My wife does enjoy the fact that she can watch whatever she likes on TV, but when I think about it she controls the remote even when I am in the room, so we watch what she likes anyway  Roll Eyes.

I'm hoping to give this a go in the 1600-2000 group ( subject to some offline testing and marital harmony ).
I figure a faster car should finish the race in a shorter time, thus reducing the strain on my kidneys and bladder  Undecided, so I resisted the temptation of a 1ltr screamer  Wink

I thought about the big BMW too, but maybe that will be a bit heavy to throw about after 3.5 hrs at the wheel???

Clive, remember that if you end up fixing car a lot during pit stop, that's good moment to put gear to neutral and visit the loo.  Cheesy
