Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h00m04s

Dave Curtis was overtaking Francesco but there was a side by side contact between the 2 cars.
The two drivers made no mistake but were very close and the GPL collision box or a little warp made the contact.

Dave Curtis has no place to go to the right and Francesco could not go to the left because there was Andreas.

Racing incident for me

Side by side contact between Arf Arf Arf and Francesco.

Very similar to previous accident ...ArfX3 just overtook Francesco but Francesco made a very late braking (not sure he could have correctly taken the next turn !) to take his position again.

Moreover he had enough place on the right (that was not the case for DaveC. in the previous incident).

Arf Arf Arf didn't report this incident so I will consider it with much indulgence as a racing incident.

Season 37 F1 SPRINT – Round 4 –  Oakes Field, Nassau 1966

The fourth race in the 1967 Sprint series sees us taking a boat across the Atlantic Ocean to Nassau in the Bahamas. The first Nassau Trophy Road Races meeting for Sports Cars was held in 1954 on the Windsor Field Course. For 1957, the meeting was moved to another airfield location, the 5 mile Oakes Course, which was closer to the main population areas on the island. The new course, despite being quite bumpy in places, was relatively well-received, though there were a number of close shaves near the pits as it was too close to the racing line. To combat this, the race direction of the track was changed to clockwise in 1958. The circuit was also shortened to 4.5 miles by cutting out the original Blackbeard's Bend and Ecky's Twist, whilst a new left-right-left corner combination was built to connect the Sassoon Straight and Bethell's Pass, cutting out the tight hairpin which had previously taken the cars off the runway. Due to much needed track repairs and the lack of additional funding by the Bahamian government, as well as competition from more races running in December, the event was discontinued after the 1966 meeting. It is the clockwise 4.5 mile Oakes Course that we will be using for tonight's race.

My other tip - if you have a Shift R find out where the pit lane entrance is - it's more cunningly hidden than the Batcave.

Is that due to track download?  If so, have temporarily uploaded the single-install to:  https://www.sendspace.com/file/49tu5q

(hopefully you remember the track!)

Cheers,
Dave.

This is at least the third time so far this season that I've managed to get in front of some poor guy and keep him behind me for what must seem like three eternities. Today it was Andreas' turn to experience frustration at a level that would make a laboratory animal howl for mercy. For the last 15 laps he was never more than 0.25 seconds behind me. Although I was making a bunch of little mistakes and taking lines that are not described in any How to Drive a Car manual, my errors were never quite grim enough to let him through. The replay, seen even at 3x speed, is just embarrassing to me. I look like someone who warmed up for the race by drinking four liters of beer in the bar across the street from the track.

I pledge on all that I hold holy and dear that this winter I will really learn how to drive an F1 sim car. And this time I mean it. But now I think I'll have those four liters of beer. I'm exhausted.

driven this track previously with the 55 mod but with the 67 F1's it felt like driving a completely new track . No set up so used qually as a  practice session for the Brabby but found I couldnt put a lap together , so in desperation I loaded a brands set up for the race hoping it might improve things . Comes the race I had perhaps 3 laps when I didnt either spin out or run out of road and go grass cutting ,so many spins It felt like I was driving a Zanussi washer , the only thing missing was a s/r to complete the set .
Was amazed to find I was ONLY 2laps behind the leaders who I am sure were using a shortcut somewhere .
Must try harder next time
Grats to the podium and all those who did there best to avoid my wayward driving  Roll Eyes

Congratulations to Markus for his first win in UKGPL. Looks like his time might have been quick enough to have won the full GP race.

I have just acquired a new set of Fanatec pedals with a load cell braking. To be honest they are taking a while to get used to & I need to play around with my set up to get the best out of them.
The track is quite a challenge but I was relatively pleased to have completed the race (didn't get lapped) with only two visits to the scenery. The first when I missed a gear & the second on the final lap where it didn't make any difference to the result.
Hopefully be a little more competitive at Rouen.

Marcus is a works driver in the sprint series. We expected most works drivers would opt for the challenge of the Grand Prix length race but it wasn't mandatory.

In my opinion is a good purchase. Is expensive but ,until now,it's worth it.Have you also the steering wheel Billy?
I have both and be careful to not set the angle of the steering wheel too narrow otherwise ,when the limit is reached, goes  into lockdown.
Now i have 400 degree and the problem is solved.

Thanks Billy,
I am quite happy to achieve that after a far from perfect start where I lost a couple of places. However, this resulted in the great opportunity to battle with Doni for a few laps. This was a real pleasure and I finally overtook him when I was able to accelerate very smoothly out of the first (real) corner onto the long straight. The better acceleration of the Ferrari in comparison to the BRM did the rest.

You all are right that my pace is better suited to the Long GP Series. I think it is the same for Baab/Bob Whitwell.
I did not know about my pace in comparison to others here before I signed up. These races here are still my very first online races. Before, I only drove GPL in single player mode and mostly did short races. So I had almost no experience for GPs that last longer than 20-30min. A 50min GP was and still is a long GP for me. I still can hardly imagine to do this for 1.5h. But now I am thinking about trying a long GP for one of the next events...

One other thing I do not like so much about the Long GP Series is that they abandoned the token system and assigned cars to each driver so that you always drive with the same car. I am wondering which car the admins would choose for me.

Markus,
You are more than welcome to compete in the Sprint series this season.
Usually we have 2 grids for the 67 series - split between the faster & slower drivers.
This year we have a 90 minute race on full GP settings & a 50 minute race. Most of the faster drivers are in the GP group but there are a few - Doni, Barb & Arf that prefer the shorter distance. That's fine.
It's really your choice.

Hi Fran,
I am still getting used to the pedals & using my old G27 wheel.
When my wife has forgotten about how much I spent on the pedals I might think about upgrading the wheel. Thanks for the tip about the wheel rotation.
