Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h00m04s

Dave Curtis was overtaking Francesco but there was a side by side contact between the 2 cars.
The two drivers made no mistake but were very close and the GPL collision box or a little warp made the contact.

Dave Curtis has no place to go to the right and Francesco could not go to the left because there was Andreas.

Racing incident for me

Server replay time: 0h14m57s

Side by side contact between Arf Arf Arf and Francesco.

Very similar to previous accident ...ArfX3 just overtook Francesco but Francesco made a very late braking (not sure he could have correctly taken the next turn !) to take his position again.

Moreover he had enough place on the right (that was not the case for DaveC. in the previous incident).

Arf Arf Arf didn't report this incident so I will consider it with much indulgence as a racing incident.

Hi Billy,
Quite interested in your hardware/controls upgrade as my G25 wheel and pedals have done many years of hard service and eventually they are going to need a replacement. Christmas is not too far away and as I consider that I have been a good boy this year  Roll Eyes, Santa might be persuaded to bring me something nice  Wink

Keep us informed on your progress and acclimatisation with the pedals, and certainly if you manage to smuggle in a wheel as well. Other than Logitech G29's etc the only other viable option does seem to be Fanatec, but I have never touched one of those devices so any info/feedback is good. BTW, is there a Fanatec shifter? or do you know if the G25 shifter would still function with Fanatec pedals and wheel?

Unrelated, but sort of relevant  wacko, if you have a little spare cash???

Clive the G25 shifter and pedals can be used as separate devices with diy solutions or with a dongle by Leo Bodnar.

I myself use the fanatec CSL V1 pedals with the G27 and its shifter.
The fanatec pedals have an USB connection to the PC and are recognized by Wdoze with driver and by Linux out of the box.

Yes there are other shifters, but the problems with GPL are well known. GPLShift does not know it - Fairshift forgets the top gears..

This is at least the third time so far this season that I've managed to get in front of some poor guy and keep him behind me for what must seem like three eternities. Today it was Andreas' turn to experience frustration at a level that would make a laboratory animal howl for mercy. For the last 15 laps he was never more than 0.25 seconds behind me. Although I was making a bunch of little mistakes and taking lines that are not described in any How to Drive a Car manual, my errors were never quite grim enough to let him through. The replay, seen even at 3x speed, is just embarrassing to me. I look like someone who warmed up for the race by drinking four liters of beer in the bar across the street from the track.

I pledge on all that I hold holy and dear that this winter I will really learn how to drive an F1 sim car. And this time I mean it. But now I think I'll have those four liters of beer. I'm exhausted.

Worry not to much Pepe.  Wink My health was not good that evening, so my goal was just to finish and get some Points. Markus was just going to destroy this plan towards the first chicane when he hit me from the back.  Sad
Your driving was just okay for me, Pepe.  thumbup1

@ AnGex
I am very sorry I did so and it was completely my fault. I just lifted my brake too early... I should have been more cautious. Apology for that.
Unfortunately I ended up behind you in this situation as I was pushed onto the grass (including a contact) directly at the start. Not that this excuses my mistake.

You all are right that my pace is better suited to the Long GP Series. I think it is the same for Baab/Bob Whitwell.

Yeah I understand that this was the expectation, I didn't opt for that series because the Sprint races are already on the long side for me, don't want to stress my eyes more than necessary and living in Germany the races finish around 11:15pm...which is late enough for a school night!  Doni seems to be doing a full season in the BRM...unless he's harvesting tokens!  I am also happy to drive the tank to make the racing a bit closer.

Regarding the race, I haven't seen a replay yet but Arf mentioned he came together with Markus into the first corner as Markus avoided me, I wasn't aware that I'd caused anything but assumed there must have been an incident as I immediately had a small lead.  After a few laps I stretched my lead to 12 secs, but then Markus passed Doni and hunted my down in no time!  I thought I was going pretty well lapping in 25/6s but Markus seemed to be down in the 23/4s.  Markus halved my lead then I spun and handed him the lead.  After that he drove away, nothing I could do, then for good measure I had another spin or two!!  One of those spins was when I hit someone who had crashed and was at the side of the track on the exit of the last turn.  Apologies to whoever that was, couldn't avoid you on the line I took.

Thanks for the racing/hosting/modding,

Bob.

@ Bob
I watched the replay again and it was Arf turning to the left in the first bend when you came a bit closer to the middle of the track. So I think he did that in order to avoid contact with you. The problem was we were three-wide into the bend and I was at the very left of the track. So when Arf started to turn to the left he turned into me. However, from your cockpit view you could not even see that Arf was having such a good start and that he was there. And you easily left enough space for one other car into the bend. But a three-wide was another story.
From my cockpit view I also could not really see where you were. I also did not really know if it was a three-wide. I only knew Arf was to my right side and when he left my blind spot he already was very close and coming even closer. I tried to stick closer to the left, but then there was already a contact. I was not aware that he did this to avoid a potential contact to another car on his right side.

One other thing I do not like so much about the Long GP Series is that they abandoned the token system and assigned cars to each driver so that you always drive with the same car. I am wondering which car the admins would choose for me.

Markus, the way you've driven in the first couple of races, I'd say that you'd probably be assigned to a 1962 MGB.  Smiley

You see what happened, so you can learn from it.
I wanted to make a report first, but you will pay more attention in the future. At least I hope so.
Because of our situation I ended up behind Pepe, for example, just like you ended up behind Bob. That's how it is sometimes in racing.

See you next time.

Moderation posted.

Thank you very much Francesco to add replays when you report an incident !
It is very useful ...but could you create replays > 2 seconds  Wink
10 sec before contact + 10 sec after contact would be great !

Belated thanks (for the mod review, exactly as I saw it) and apols to Markus for L1 bump, I think I had more room that I realised.

I'm amazed I made it to the end of this race, as, never mind a couple of self induced spins, I got collected by a few others, esp. in the last left hander. ANy one of those incidents would have ended my race any other day. Not so much space at the side of the track at Rouen...
