Season 37 - SC67 - Alfa vs Porsche Cup – Round 4 - Road America

For round 4 we will be at Road America in the USA. The track covers 640 acres (2.6 km2) within Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine. It is near the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive and has hosted races since September 1955. It currently hosts over 400 events a year. Road America has not been modified and retains its original configuration of 4.048 miles (6.515 km) in length and consisting of 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph (320 km/h) may be reached. One of the best known features of this course is a demanding right hand turn known as "the kink." Road America's open seating allows spectators to venture throughout the grounds. Grandstands are available in several locations, as well as permanent hillside seating where crowds of more than 150,000 can be accommodated.

Please check the Season 37 details regarding rules and the Alfa vs Porsche Cup pages in particular.

Handicapping
"Works" drivers will carry extra weight in form of 10 gallons of fuel (to remain in the tank after the race).
Drivers are expected to behave in a fair and gentlemanly fashion and declare how much fuel they have left after the race.

In order to ensure there will be 10 gallons of fuel left after the race, the minimum race fuel load for Works is expected to be:
  • Alfa T33 = 23 gallons (87 litres)
  • Porsche = 24 gallons (91 litres)

Two resets will be allowed (there is no need to carry out a Stop and Go in the pit lane if you make a Shift-R).
Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.
Only reported incidents will be moderated.

I need to learn to be a bit more patient in the early stages. A few silly mistakes dropped me to the back and I had to work hard to catch up. Don't worry about the contact on the rejoin David, I was miles off line. It wasn't your fault. I had a good battle with Doni over the last couple of laps. He must have been holding something in reserve to be able to pass me on the last lap. Luckily for me he made a mistake and I managed to grab the place back. I've no idea how Tris and Alain managed to get the Alfas around so fast, brilliant driving  I Am Not Worthy.

I choose the Alfe because it has 6 gears what is an advantage here, but the Porky is faster in a straight line...

I had a great training, but 60fps online was horror. I switched off objects as a solution, but brake markers disappeared too Cheesy

Congrats to winner and podium!
Next time maybe.

Some good fun and some blistering lap times by the leaders marked this run on what has to be considered as just about the finest circuit in America.  I started well back qualifying on full fuel...isn't everyone one?  why not?...but picked up places fast and early as people fell off the road with great regularity.  Ricky caught me up and I must apologize for our collision on the Kettle Bottoms straight as I lost track of where he was.  Lucky that we both could continue.

Late on, Phil challenged and passed but on the last lap, I wangle a pass on the run down the Moraine Sweep.  That was thanks to the slipstream, Phil.  It was looking good for P7 finish but I just barely touched the grass verge on braking for T8, the Porsche slewed slideways and by the time I got a handle on it again, Phil was by for keeps.  Good run there, Phil.

Finish line fuel was 13.9 USG.
