What do you think of the new tracks in GTR2? My thoughts below:

Zhuhai: Nice simple track to learn and drive, not much in the way of corner combinations. The 1st gear corners would be a pain in GTR1 but aren't a problem now. Should produce some good racing.

Valencia: A much more technical track, but probably more interesting in the long run. I'm struggling for consistancy around here, it's very easy to make a mistake. The last corner before the straight is particularly challenging.

Dubai: Horrible track, no flow to it at all.

Hockenheim: I like it, good mix of fast and slow corners.

Imola: Great flow, very enjoyable to drive.

I really like Hockenheim. Imola is as tricky as ever but a great track. Zhuhai, i need more time on to decide. Not had a chance to try the others yet.

PS...over at No-grip site there is a brand new Le Mans track for GTR2 Cool Most comments so far, say its the best incarnation yet for it.  Kiss
Can we have a race here some time please?  angel

Dubai: Horrible track, no flow to it at all.

I had a quick look last night whilst doing some skin testing and I quite like it, very technical in places, reminds me of Istanbul (both are Herman Tilke tracks I think). There're some really stunning fast sections.

Zuhai:
Great track, with a great flow. There are quite a few overtaking/outbraking places.

Valencia:
Great track. Very twisty, so it will probably give close racing with very few overtaking places.

Dubai:
Horrible track. Left right left right left right, every bloody time you want to accelerate, there is another stupid, HUGE corner. Up there with Estoril for me...better say, down there.

Hockenheim:
Average track. Have driven it alot in GTL, so no big surprises there. Could give good racing.

Imola:
Don't get me started here. I already had some great races with Alex Dremko and Fab Logan. One of the best tracks ever.

I tell you what - even though Estoril is a hateful little place - it's a lot more driveable in GTR2. The hairpin is still nasty, but I can actually get around it without spinning off *EVERY SINGLE TIME* ! Cheesy

Zuhai: Not bad, quite like it.

Valencia: Very twisty, not sure how good this will be for racing battles.

Dubai: Ug. Something wrong with sky textures in mirrors too.

Hockenheim: Don't like it. Bad track in real life, bad track in GTR2.

Imola: Not great for battles, not many overtaking places. Lack of high speed corners, too much using curbs, but somehow I still quite like it.

I'm clearly in the minority. I've always liked Estoril.  Smiley

The only thing good about Dubai is that the track is so wide you can take the corners alot faster than a regular European track.  Other than that...the problem with it is that for such a long track it's just not epic.  Spa is epic, Dubai is just...it's just a flat track in the desert.

Zhuhai is okay, not hard to drive, I like the Mountains, that's about it.

Valencia and Hockenheim are pretty good.  I'm horrible on Imola.  Horrible in GTR, horrible in GTL, I'll be slow and it will be horrible in GTR2 when I get around to driving it.

I do like the short tracks that they included.  These will be good for single make series, especially with the G3 cars.  Except for Anderstorp South, it's awful.

Mugello is up at no-grip.net as well as that LeMans track.  I really like that track, it's a keeper for future races.

Does anyone know how much slower a lap at Spa 04 should be due to the new bus stop section?

Looking at GTR2 rank, the fastest lap2 are:

2003 => 2:05.149
2004 => 2:08.634

So say, 3,5 to 4 seconds.

Finally got the game this morning, and tried a few of the new tracks out:

Zhuhai - a boring set of straights linked by tight corners. The only interesting corner on the whole track is the last one.

Valencia - basically a bike track and much too tight for these cars. With the last corner being so slow it doesn't bode well for much overtaking or good racing.

Hockenheim - I like this, as it has been designed to create passing oportunities. Rather too many slow corners for me, but the fast middle section is a real corker and should make for great racing.

Imola - I enjoy driving this but as other have said, there are too few places to pass. Luckily there are quite a few corners which can catch you out, so a fast driver should be able to put on pressure and force a mistake.

Dubai - I don't understand why this hasn't had more positive comments? Yes, it's flat, but then again so are many other tracks. The mix of corners and especially the combinations make this a fantastic challenge, and the long straights also give plenty of chances to overtake. I can't wait to race there.
