I think this is a prime example of how not to design a race track. I guess someone thought it a good idea to string a a shed load of 2nd gear corners together. All in all not the most exciting race on a dire track

Congrats to Matt & Toni on the podium  clap clap & well done to Stephen & Bill for staying to the finish.

Yes finished just, Stephen passed me on the entry to the last corner and on my next lap I successfully tried taking corner in third gear instead of second. So I tried to use third in a couple of other corners, without success but cracked the windscreen with an off. Got too confident on last corner and ran onto all the rubber debris and went straight on into crash barrier! The windscreen was very badly cracked, appeared to be sagging and I found the car handling almost ruined so I slowed down for the corners. Fortunately I only had a few minutes of racing left and made it to end of the last lap.

An interesting and enjoyable night’s racing with a new PB!

The tyre model for these cars isn't doing any favours either. All my tyres were red starting from lap 3 until the end. Makes racing kind of unpleasant. At least Mid-Ohio should be a breath of fresh air.

I will try to see if I can recruit some people into these events so they don't become hot lapping exercises in the future.

I can't remember a cracked screen in this  Shocked Well done Bill  Grin
Is like the other Chinese track we used. Works ok for these, and I quite enjoyed it, but it does seem a bit "regional"

I agree it wasn't the most interesting track, I thought I would give it ago as it is part of the new breed of tracks in China. My race was a bit of a hotlapping session. I definitely prefer the Lotus to the BMW but was still way off the pace and just drifted back.

Out of interest I was using the default setup, were the other Lotus drivers in this race running default or modified setups?

I ran Lotus at the previous event, and increased front grip quite a bit.
I have always rather liked the X-Box from previous seasons, so was keen to run that, and I reduced front roll bar, and one clickoff
the rear wing so it would be less disadvantaged on the straight. Ialways swap the TC round as to me it's more intuitive
to add from non, than reduce from max.

Modified quite a bit & different to what I had used previously too. I find the default understeers quite a bit & all those slow corners magnified it, so I softened the front to try to gain grip there & stiffened the rear to try to loosen it on turn in. Also did not run too much rear wing, corners are quite slow here so mechanical grip more important than aero & hoped it would gain a bit of straight line speed on the fast bit.

Usually the Lotus does not like kerbs & can lose the rear quite easily over them, so rear grip is important, but here the kerbs are quite flat so I could get away with loosening the rear somewhat.

Toni mentioned the tyres getting rather hot, yes they did but did not really notice much loss of grip in the later stages.

I tried to change the Lotus to reduce the understeer by softening the front and stiffening the rear but my times were no better than when i ran default! There was no fun driving that combo so decided to give it a miss; The Lotus was ok but the front just kept plowing on, getting on the power just made it worse..
