Welcome to round 6 of the Porsche RSR Challenge - This week we head down under for the series finale!
Barbagallo is a short and fast circuit, it's fairly technical but good fun once learnt.

This season is loosely based on our first outing in these cars several years ago, so expect very short qualifying sessions.
The 1st series featured single lap qualifying which was a bit awkward to monitor, so I will be reducing the qualifying sessions to only allow time for 2 flying laps.
So make sure you have space around you and get a good 'banker' in before you go nuts Wink

Unlucky Stefan, you had good pace too and enjoyed the early battle. Sounds like a heat issue possibly? or psu not powerful enough?

My race was pretty pants with an ill handling car. Sadly I hadn’t found time for any practise so meant my setup was being tweaked on the go. Qualified 5th surprisingly.
By the first few laps of the race I realised my third gear was just one notch too long and it cost me in the quickest corners. It also felt like I had no grip despite softening the suspension down.  Huh
After a good early spell v Stefan , I fell backwards and was doomed to a dull race until GT caught me and we had a good scrap until the chequered flag  Smiley
No idea where I finished as stracker and crew chief went haywire within a few laps  Undecided

Yep, I must admit I quite enjoyed racing these 911's.  Grin

No I monitor my temps, nothing beyond 60 degrees C. First blue screens indicated GPU related, so I updated and reinstalled drivers and settings.
Might have something to do with USB usage and the Rift. Will be trying some settings and different USB ports now...

are you on USB 3.0 for the Rift? think it needs it. I bought a little USB 3.0 card that plugs in to one of your pci-e slots. Gives you 4 extra USB slots too. What power is your psu?

Yup, both the head set and the sensors are all in 3.0 USB slots. I do have an 3.1 slot which I might try for the headset as it might be on a different controller perhaps. Will also try one sensor on a 2.0 USB..

Did just found a suggestion about Usb Selective Suspend (low power management for Usb from Windows) in the Oculus Tray tool. Will try that one first.

I have a 550W power supply. The XFX Pro 550 Core Edition. Might be a simple and older model, but shouldn't that be sufficient?
I also didn't had any problems during the first months with this setup..

hmm, i think that may be a little on the low side but no pc-tech expert. isnt it a 600w min recommended psu once you start adding s/wheels etc,  higher end gfx cards, faster cpu and/or Rifts? Might be worth searching on the internet or looking at min psu specs for Rift and or gfx card.

I'll be honest - BSOD in Win10 is nearly always hardware nowadays. Driver and software errors normally get recovered to the desktop.
In fact the only BSOD instances I've had on my Win7 and 10 rigs in the last 6 or 7 years have been hardware.
A dodgy SATA cable for a HDD on the old Win7/10 gaming rig, and a dodgy stick of Ram on my new media PC.
Have you been able to get the fault codes off before the PC shuts down/restarts?

If the PSU is old then it might be struggling to provide the power it once did, but unlikely as that's normally the point when they make a mushroom cloud.
I've seen some silly recommendations for PSU's against some modern GFX cards with VR, although can't say I understand why as the maximum draw I've had from my own pc (Ryzen 7 3700X and 1070GTX) is about 220Watts. That has a 750W supply on it doing bugger all most of the time Grin
For efficiency you normally aim for a supply with twice the rating your system actually draws.
Whack a power meter on it before you blow some cash on a new one, XFX make pretty good PSU's so it should be capable pretty much till it goes bang.

For reference I have my Rift and one sensor on USB3.2 (lowest 3 my pc has, it was a normal 3 on the old MoBo) and one sensor on a USB2. Originaly the Rift ran fine on 3 USB3's, then after a few updates they improved it to the point it couldn't see them as USB3's anymore when they were all plugged in due to their utterly carp software (I WILL be going to a Vive Pro when I have excessive cash, just to get away from Oculus' rubbish drivers).

On a different note, despite Team Italy's attempt to scupper my race ( Wink )... for the 2nd season running I've managed to beat Fabri by 1 solitary point Shocked

I need to stop inspecting lamp posts and pit lanes and pull my finger out!

I'm not a pc or hardware expert, but I had similar issues recently, and 2 culprit that made my pc restart when I was driving on a Sim, or playing at Ghost Recon:

1) GPU termperatures (after some 20 minutes the temps went to 100° celsius, so the Graphic card will go in protection mode, and the pc will restart). When I did some tests to check my temperatures I used a free software (TechPowerUp GPU-Z). So you can download it and run. Go in the second folder "Sensors", and at the bottom of the page flag the box "Log to file". Than go driving as you usually do, until you have a restart. Open log file (is a .txt) and check the temperature column. If you'll notice that temps go at 99° celsius, that is surely an issue, cause your pc will restart. I had a situation like this, so I had to unmount my graphic card, put one small drop of thermal paste on the processor, and temps went a lot better, never going over 70-75° celsius.

At this point I thought that I had solved the issue, but I was wrong. After I put thermal paste on the GPU, I only prolonged a bit the time before the pc restarted, so temperatures were not the only culprit. I checked the CPU temp with a twin software (CPU-Z), and temps were fine. So, the issue was definitely in my 6 years old PSU (600 W). So, if you haven't temps issues after you'll do some tests with the software I suggested, you have a couple of options:

1) test the PSU with a tester (if you know someone that can do it for you without wasting money and time);

2) Buy a new PSU on Amazon (a modular PSU is much expensive but easier to connect). For the future, a 650W PSU should be ok. Install and connect it, than try again to do a long stint, and see if you have the same issue. If the pc won't restart when you're driving, you have solved the issue. If the pc will have the same issue, PSU it's not the problem, and you can return it to Amazon and have your money back. That's the "italian way" I adopted  Grin
