Season 37 F1 Full Grand Prix – Round 7 –  Solitude

The 7th race in the 1967 F1 Grand Prix series takes us to Solitude track near Stuttgart in Germany.
The Solitude race track was used predominantly for motorcycle racing. Not as daunting as the Nurburgring, but it’s quite a challenge with a deceptively fast back section. Remember this is a left handed circuit.

This season we are experimenting with some Grand Prix length races which we estimate should take 90 mins to complete.
This change to our normal format has required some changes to our rules and etiquette, so please read everything carefully to ensure that you understand.

Server = UKGPL_8
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 25-10-2020
Time = 20:30 UK time (21:00 GMT) RACE WILL START AT APPROX 21:00 UK LOCAL TIME
Track = Solitude
Race length = 24 Laps (90 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes
Password: see above
Replay = here

Please check the Season 37 details regarding rules.

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AND BE SURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND.

QUALIFYING
During qualifying drivers are expected to drive back to the pits after each qualifying run. It is not permissible to return to the pits using the "Esc" key. If a driver crashes his car in qualifying and cannot return to the pits safely under his own power, he must not participate in the remaining qualifying period. The driver will allocated the grid slot achieved at that point.
REFUELLING
On some tracks it may not be possible to complete the full race distance on one tank of fuel. To avoid having to drive conservatively in order to save fuel, it is recommended that drivers make use of the Pit Stop patch which allows refuelling. Details are on the UKGPL web site on the Game page under the rules section.

We are using Lee Bowden's pit stop patch V 1.0 available here
http://srmz.net/index.php?s=2f2b26bfa1b153fa8e44e9fc470d61a9&app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=28268

This patch allows cars to refuel in the pits to the same level as when they started the race and does NOT allow for tyres to be changed.
 You do not have to make a pitstop and may choose to run the whole race by filling your tanks from the start.

For Season 37 we are promoting the use of TEAMSPEAK for those who wish to use it. Details can be found here
This allows drivers to speak to each other if they wish, IT IS NOT COMPULSORY.

Important!!!
RED FLAG RESTARTS
We hope that drivers will be cautious on Lap 1 and avoid any moves that might cause a crash.
However, because this is racing there might be an occasion where several cars are eliminated, or badly damaged, by an incident on lap 1 and we could be left with 4 cars that have a lonely 90 minute race ahead of them.
If the moderator decides that any such incident on Lap 1, has removed too many cars from the race, he is able to order a RESTART, and he will announce this on Teamspeak and then through GPL CHAT.
The server will be shut down and restarted. There will then be a SINGLE lap qualifying session to determine the grid placings. Drivers will be allowed a single outlap followed by ONE flying lap to set a grid time. After completing your flying lap please pull off the track and ESC to pits to keep the track clear.
A Restart will only be called ONCE for each race and will only apply to Lap 1 incidents. If there is a multi car incident on Lap 2 then tough luck!! These are long races and a certain amount of caution should be used.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Yes, in countries that don't change their daylight hours, the server will be started an hour later.

I always put the time zone in the tables in the registration threads so the drivers know when the UK changes time zone (along with most of Europe). Hopefully that helps drivers plan ahead but for non European drivers we do need to make it obvious in the race post.

  A very tough race!
  Congratulations to Uli and Tristan !!!
  My race had two phases, the first in leaving a space at the beginning to save energy for the end of the race, 24 laps in Solitude is a huge challenge to finish the race, and making a strong pace throughout the race would be almost impossible for me, I managed winning a position after Alain's mistake and after half the race I started to lower the times and try to get closer to Farina, but he also had a steady pace, we switched positions in the thin team twice, both in driver errors, but missing 3 laps Farina had a problem and got stuck in the hay, I'm sorry Farina, it was a clean and tense fight !!!

  This time Uli had no problem and was alone at the front and won all the trophies available for the Solitude race.

If you want finish first you have to finish first.

Congratulation Tristan, Johnny and all finishers,
in the end I had 8 litres fuel too much, because I handle the Maserati engine this time very carefully – and she stands it.
THX to Dave and Eric for your perfect job when I was lapping you.
Nothing more to tell.
I like such tracks! 3rd win here, never so cmfortable ...
2014 (GPL65) with only +0,7 sec. in front of Tristan. Never forget your great closing up then!
Next race I hope for a much bigger grid.
THX to our admins.
