Thanks Tim. It’s just that ffb clip has a setting ‘target torque’ when you tick the DD option and it can be done for each car, so something light with power steering like an MX5 would be 12Nm, whereas a full blown GT racer like a F488 might be 30Nm. A Porsche cup car is 20Nm. Guessing a 540kg single seater of that era may be about 15-20? (As the weights at the back anyway)  Undecided

I too have always been curious to know how strong the steering wheel of an old F1 was.

I have never set the degrees from my steering wheel: AC adapts it car to car so that it matches the virtual one in the movements. There is a bit of an approximation in cars with many degrees of steering (like road car), it seems to me, because my G27 has not all those degrees.

Low ratio manual racks are always heavy - but you have to bear in mind that these cars were 4 wheel drifted, most of the steering effort was done by foot - all the driver really had to contend with were low speed hairpins and the start & finish of any fast corner.
The middle bit involves pretty much minimal input if you're going fast enough/sliding correctly.

Admittedly the above is based on driving my old 7, but steering loads should still be similar from watching how they used to drive old 50/60's F1

Found out that a Formula Renault 2.0L is 19Nm so these old cigars must be similar.  Smiley

One thing that really stands out to me with the direct drive wheel is how superior the track surfaces are for Kunos tracks. The two mod tracks I’ve tried so far give really poor feedback in comparison.  Undecided

oh i went to town to cheer myself up after a sh*tty year, bought Heuskinkveld Sprint pedals, VRS DD Wheel (20Nm) and a TrackRacer TR180 sim-rig Smiley Hardly used my real cars this year so money i've saved on them i used towards my sim fun to make it feel more realistic, plus i can sell/have sold some of my Fanatec gear for decent money to recover some dosh. My triceps and lats are getting a damn good workout with this DD wheel  Tongue

I should add, i've been using a playseat evolution for about 10yrs and my ageing back was beginning to suffer as you nearly sit on the floor and it wobbled about with the ever improving-strength hardware, hardly ideal.
All the kit i bought is an improvement, but biggest surprise was the pedals. My Fanatec V3's made all my previous Logitech/Thrustmaster stuff feel like toys. The Heusinkvelds make my Fanatecs feel like a toy!
Hence why i needed a proper rig as i now have 20N torque in the steering and upto 58kg braking pedal pressure!  Shocked  Been two weeks of pain configuring it all though and getting the ideal cockpit position...nearly there  Smiley

How big is the wheel in them?
Without knowing that and then calculating the force to match your own wheel size the value itself will be irrelevant - you'll be feeling more or less force than the real thing unless it just happens to be the same.

The Standard wheel in my 180 is only 10-20mm larger diameter compared to the Momo I fitted about 10 years back, but you can feel the difference easily - and when I have the wider wheels on the car and/or the 2-way fitted, it mounts up again Cheesy

The trouble is that I haven't heard of any wheel software that configures force based on the above factors, so you may as well just go with something that feels authentic because it'll be pure luck otherwise Smiley
