After what seems to have been a very well balanced field at the 'Ring we move to Zandvoort for a test race next - this allows us to see if the restrictor used on the Ford applies equally at sea-level. Same as last time it will be a 30 minute sprint, use what ever tires you fancy! Anyone that can practice with all 4 cars will be appreciated, I'll be doing all 4 myself, but know I have strong favourites that I'm better in so that will likely skew the times. The hope is that I can come up with a suitable handicapping baseline to allow a series to be run - that will then have some further success ballast added depending on championship position (In order to smooth out the changes smoothly across the season). Password: see above Practice: 19:30 (45 mins) Qual: 20:15 (15 mins) Race: 20:30 (30 mins + 1 lap) Cars allowed: Alfa 155 (+11Kg ballast, 10% (-42Hp) restrictor) BMW M3 DTM (no handicap) Ford Sierra R500 V3.03 (+20Kg Ballast, 50% restrictor (turbos don't respond the same as N/A before you ask!) https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/ford-sierra-cosworth-rs500-pack.24027/Mercedes 190E DTM (+6Kg ballast, 1% (-6.3Hp) restrictor. The above handicapping brings everything to roughly 2.7Kg/Hp apart from the Ford - as it's Turbocharged, it has epic torque and is faster than it should be - providing the mod team got their figures right. Track: Zandvoort (Kunos stock version) Live Timing: hereTime of Day Setting: 15:00 Weather: Mid-clear Start: Standing Tyre wear: Normal Fuel consumption: Normal Pit-stops: Not required Server track settings: SESSION_START=100 RANDOMNESS=0 LAP_GAIN=0 SESSION_TRANSFER=N/a Damage: 80% Password: see above PLP App - Not used in this series. Cutting will be monitored on replay and penalties issued for excessive cutting.

Forgive my stupidity but is this a new series or fun/test races prior to the series?

Fun/test race while checking suitability for a future series. These have always been popular to drive, but a nightmare to balance - I've spent 3 or 4 hours on them to get the BOP we used at Nurby last night and it seems to have worked a lot better than last time (It's in the first line of the description )

Hopefully we get series up, these cars offer good fun and excitement. Getting these totally balanced is maybe impossible, I think what is important that every cars pros & cons are in balance.

Cool. I will hop into the Sierra again for the race. If I can make time I will test the other cars too.

I too think we don't need too much balancing. I think I would prefer there would be a difference between cars, I much prefer that to a spec series.

Unbalanced and it's just 4 separate spec races at the same time though. Merc is a second faster than the BMW, Alfa is 2 seconds faster than the Merc. Ford is possibly faster again than the Alfa.
With a spot of balancing the cars will all have strengths and weaknesses still. Merc has top speed, alfa has grip, BMW has agility, Ford has low down grunt and amazing brakes. All I need is to get them close. Trying to do this based on a single circuit at an altitude of ~500 meters altitude when one car is Turbo and the other 3 aren't simply won't work.

I did little editing your post and series is ready to go, you're welcome.

I'm also 2+ seconds a lap slower than you in the same car, and it's not just me. So differences between cars could bring the difference between the drivers closer (or further of course) apart.

I commend Tim’s efforts to bring some balance to this great car set. We all know what happens if there is a clear advantage for one car. Doesn’t need to be spot on as us regulars will choose the car that we like the most anyway and I certainly don’t mind if different cars are stronger at different tracks, that’s racing life. @matteo, can only be the Sierra causing you issues. Did you update it rather than fresh install? Maybe delete it and reinstall? The rest are stock kunos

It could also be the Merc, the file on the server was out of date when I first tried running the Nurburgring round - Do the integrity check for your local files in AC (might be worth deleting (Back up first!) some of the physics files before doing it? Just be aware it will over write any sound packs you have installed)
But otherwise I have to assume the Sierra - you're certain you have version 3.03 and not the other Sierra on RD?

All I'm saying I prefer cars to be driven as they are, rather than butchering them to make them artificially the same. Then you're not driving the dtm mercedes, or dtm alfa, or dtm bmw, but some mixed up general car. And if you're worried about everyone taking the fastest car, there are other way to moderate that. Right here in GPL section you have tokens. Or a simple rule saying you can drive any car only once or twice a season. I'm sure there are other examples as well. I'll drive anyway, just it doesn't feel very realistic to change cars like this, and we are supposed to be sim enthusiast.

@syd I’m all for realism for sure, but using air restrictors and ballast is fair game in racing in my book. Are you saying a BoP’d Ferrari in gt3 isn’t a Ferrari ?

I don't get probably what you're trying to say Tim. I have the Sierra 3.03 downloaded from Race Department by the link of 1st post. Is there another file I have to download? Did the integrity check of local files and all was good. You're mentioning another Mercedes files that could be the trouble, but I don't get what trouble could be by my side Tried again to delete the cars from "cars" folder, downloaded and unzipped them again in cars folder, but nothing happens. I always get the same message. As I'm not even sure I will have the chance to compete during wednesdays, I guess it's better for me to give up. I have no answer to this, and I won't bother again to reinstall this fuxxing game. Have fun chaps
