A quick bit of fun in the GPL67 F1 monsters - another series that may well make an appearance in the future..
No ballasting or modding of performance here - so just pick your favourite and man/woman up, or be a glory seeker and pick the Lotus....

Password: see above

Practice: 19:30 (45 mins)
Qual: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30  (30 Laps)

Cars allowed:
3l 1967 F1 from the GPL67 mod.
I've put them on dropbox for now as the original download was apparently VERY slow:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o719sdx2kohk668/AC%20GPL67%20V2.20.rar?dl=0

You MUST follow these instructions in order to install the mod:

Packs needed:
Dream pack 3 from Steam for the Lotus 33 to work (we're not using it in this series though)
Ferrari DLC from Steam

Installing the Lotus 49 =

You need the original Kunos Lotus 49 install file:

Extract folders content and texture to your AC install: …\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\
    Goto …\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars\lotus_49
In this folder: Copy the lotus_49.kn5 file
    Within \cars folder, goto \ gpl67_lotus_49
    Paste lotus_49.kn5 here!

Installing the Ferrari 312 =

You need the Ferrari DLC pack from steam:)

Extract folders content and texture to your AC install: …\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\
    Goto:
    ..\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars\ ks_ferrari_312_67
In this folder: Copy the ferrari_312_67.kn5 file
    Within \cars folder, goto \ gpl67_ferrari_312
    Paste ferrari_312_67.kn5 here!

I'll try to join this one, but not sure I can.

I mentioned this event in VDA forum, so if I won't be there at least I'll try to send you some old GPL drivers like our granpa Lalethor to race with  Grin Grin

Do we need to choose a car so they can be allocated on server or do we just pick what's left when we join?

As this is a fun race I'm not going to do assigned cars - if people can give me an idea before Tuesday of what they are going to drive I can try and ensure there are enough of the relevant cars on the server for the race. No guarantees it'll work though.

Hey Tim, I tried the Eagle yesterday and would like to drive this for tonights race. Can you make sure these are available then please? Tnx

Sorry to Jos, Syd and Maxime for not reacting on your message. It is a bitch typing in VR, sorry.  Tongue

If all of the other cars are anyting like the one car I tried yesterday, then I am all for a series with them. Couldn't stop driving! Jolly good fun.

I'll be able to have a minimum of 3 of each - but obviously I only need to know if 4 or 5 people want to drive the same car as 2 of them will be dissapointed.

As for driving characteristics - they are al different but behave much like the Eagle.
The mod has it's Physics based on replicating GPL = so it's a 4 wheel drift mod Cheesy

That was frankly brilliant! Grin
Glad we did it, as I realised while sitting on the grid that I can 'fix' the BRM simply by disabling tire wear - so it matches the other cars.

It's still slow, but with equal tires and some seriously angry driving it will then have a chance of actually competing Cool

WD to Fabri and Maxime on filling the podium, and al others who finished.

Hopefully there is some interest in running these after the DTMs?
I think they could be great fun if I can have a rummage for suitably old GPL circuits (That aren't carp conversions).

I joined late with only a few laps practise. Had intended to just follow the pack and build up speed as the race went on. That lasted about 5 corners before I was wiped out by Kimi and Stefan having an accident  whilst at full chat  Sad My car was totalled, dragged its crabbing carcass to the pits but couldn’t see where to stop due to all the people standing in the pit Lane  Tongue Huh
Spent rest of session trying various ffb settings to get better feel for these cars.

Unfortunately I had fps issues throughout the race, this reduced a lot the fun.

Nice track, nice cars. I am a fan of the F1 '60s.  Smiley
Congratulations to everyone for the race.

I'm more interested in a championship with these than with the DTM.  angel

Was looking forward to this one. At the start managed to out drag Tim, but Matteo was even faster of the line and overtook us both into T1. When Matteo crossed my line I had to brake a little harder then expected and had to recover a sliding car. That put me back some places.

Then had an accident with Kimi and that was it really. That is what GPL is I guess. @Kimi, did you just not see me at your right? Or where you trying to toughen it out with me? Just curious, as you had the better line for the next left hander over the hill and could have left a little more space..
After waiting for an eternity in the pits I went out for the remaining of the race. Car felt great, just have to get used to the brake power and balance as that is all over the place with these cars.

Defenately should do a series with these cars.

Found out after the race it actually looks better in VR without PP enabled, but you miss brake ligths. So that is not usable for online sadly.

Enjoyed that one. Would have been happy driving any of these cars but concentrated on setting up the Ferrari to a point where it wasn't trying to kill me. Ferrari also has the prettiest cockpit which if I'm going to have to look at it for 45 minutes is important to me.

Decided to give quali a chance this time but once again start was almost a disaster as I had to get out of the throttle to avoid tail ending Tim who was slower off the line than I had expected (or maybe in that unique instant I was faster than Tim  Cheesy) Unfortunately I was then side swiped into the pit wall by Maxime as he passed me, who in fairness seemed to be avoiding a car to his left but I lost more places. Do you guys use Helicorsa?

Race settled down and I gave chase to Syd who I eventually passed after a nice battle and then caught up with Frex who made a small mistake at the last chicane which let me through. My tyre app was showing no wear at the end of the race with an estimated 3000 ish laps of medium grip available so I'm sure disabling tyre wear won't have any adverse affects.

Only tried a couple of the cars so far but already liking these - certainly brings back the GPL memories..

Started well but a couple of small errors lost me the places I had gained. Then had a decent fight with GT for some laps - he was much quicker but I could get good exits in all the right places to just about fend him off for awhile, until I put a wheel on the dirt just before the final chicane and he got by. Good fun though, would definitely be up for a series with these.

Congrats Fabri and podium.

Tried the Honda after I saw that McLaren was easily on 25's with some tweaks, so I went for the car I hate more in this mod.

The result is that I will never drive that car again. No confidence in brakes, understeer everywhere. Simply not funny at all for my taste.

My race ended up with my XXX Honda doggy styling a catarifrangant at the exit of last corner for at least 30 seconds of pure lust. Then I pressed esc and watched a bit the lonely drifter Muttram Cool, that was surely more fun than driving the Honda.

Bravo Fabri on that shitbox, aswell as Tim on his 500 bhp shopping cart, and Maxime.

See you for the next.
