No much to report from a short race.  Generally didn't have stability problems with the car, at least as long as the tyres weren't too worn and found it a blast to drive here. Classic mistake meant early exit; got too close to Manfred into the first, fast left hander. Had to lift off, lost the rear and went into the barrier. With these fragile cars, that meant game over.

Grats to Micha & podium and all finishers

Wasn't thinking I was going to be too competitive here, the car didn't really want to behave.

My fears were confirmed in quali when Dimitar did a stunning 2.03.2 lap, which I was miles away from. But, I had chipped away at the setup little by little, and the car now felt better, more planted and less willing to over-rotate mid corner. This meant I was able to push a little harder as quali went on, and I was actually over a second up on my best lap 2 or 3 times, but never managed to finish it off. This meant I knew I had some race pace, because my setup in quali was my race setup.

Got off the line OK this time, unlike Monday, and slotted in behind the front group. Made it through the horrible hairpin intact, and looked to stay in the tow on the drive up the hill. I could see the front 3 were very close together coming into that big braking zone for the penultimate turn, and sure enough where 3 went in together, only 1 came out ahead of me. But, I was right on the tail of Ziu in the lead now, and I was quicker than him I felt, as I was backing off to stay behind in the run down to the hairpin. Sure enough, I was able to go past on the long run up the hill, finding myself in first place.

Now, I was sure Dimitar and Manfred would be zooming up behind after the small off they had on lap 1. So tried to build a gap to the chasers, and I was surprised to pull away gently throughout the first 5 laps or so, building a nice gap as we got to the window for the stops. And was comfortable with this, setting the fastest lap of the race at this point.....

Went for the pits on lap 16 or so, hit the limiter, took fuel and tyres, and exited, all nice and neat, no dramas. Nope! Greeted with the speeding in the pitlane stop and go message....Rats, so stayed out for 3 laps, then went for the s and g, came out 6th. Was now too far from the lead, but over the next lap it became clear that 4th was possible, which Geoffers was holding. As he said, caught him and passed, and now was closing fast on Micha for 3rd. Then Ziu and Manfred had an incident taking them both out of the running, and I'm close to Micha going onto the last lap for the lead. Caught him, got past, but he held a great tow and went back past on the brakes into the penultimate turn. I felt I could get back through before the line though, so concentrated on good drive, and had a great tow, but got just a little too close and touched Micha, robbing me of my extra speed, and he was able to hold first by a small margin.

Great fun race, grats to all that finished as these cars didn't take much to break.

Found the problem with the limiter, new pc and the button wasn't mapped!

Came across this video showing what the track is like now.

https://youtu.be/L6X16nc1EiQ

Interesting to compare with the VLM version that we raced on. Obviously the top part of the track no longer exists but most of the wooded part does & the VLM track is actually quite accurate. Only parts I think are a little different are T1 which in reality is a little further on from where the track starts to go downhill & is maybe sharper & the run from the hairpin up to the Sanson LHer which has a little more curve to it. Also noticed the chicane at T3 on the later layout of the track is actually a little way around the turn whereas on the VLM track the entrance to it is direct from the previous straight.

Thanks Geoff. Nice to see the track in real life. BTW i watch videos from this channel in the past it has more circuits and how they look now. I still feel so bad for the old Hockenheim, being now just a forest. Sad
