Was enjoying that for a while, but 3 s/g in minutes was too much.

My second race in my attempted comeback to SIM RACING turned out somewhat better than last weeks attempt. My goal was to finish the race, not finish last and not be the slowest driver. I managed two out of three so I was fairly satisfied. I still needed to knock just over a second a lap off my lap times on this track to be able to race with someone but it was closer than last week.

I think I had a good setup to make the car drivable but got the gearing wrong. However I managed to keep the car facing in the right direction and apart from one controlled excursion into the gravel in order to avoid a possible “track cut” I managed to stay on the tarmac.

I checked out my times of about ten years ago and was surprised to see how much slower I am now. It must be down to lack of practice and something to do with my reason for picking car No 81 no doubt.

A few more races and I think I will get a bit quicker so back markers watch out.

Usual congrats to winner and podiums  and all. It looked like there was some good racing going on in the midfield.

I hope to join again on Wednesday.

It was nice racing last night. I was really happy to see such a big grid again.

I was able to steal the qualy from Daz, Ziu and Geoff, but i knew the race is going to be tougher.

I started OK but Daz was just faster and took the lead. We started great chase, as i was faster on the corners, byt he was faster on the straight. Little by little i saw that my setup is not working well as the front tires were wearing much faster than the rear ones and i had more and more understeer as the race progressed. Daz was keeping great pace and was able to pull away from me as i was able to keep 2-3 seconds ahead of Ziu.

Unfortunately as i expected i made 3 cuts and had to go to the pits. This is how i drive though - if there is a gap to take i am going for it, i just can't drive slower when there is a danger of cut and this was my problem.

At the end i finish in P4 like round 1 which is a bad result as i am down on the standings now. I guess i must attack on the next rounds.  Roll Eyes

Quite like both car & track, but apart from the very early laps, this was a completely lonely & very nondescript race.  Dan kindly, but unnecessarily waved me through early on, and with the leaders pulling away up front, I was soon all alone.  Had passed one of the fast guys when he spun towards the end of L1.  Couldn't identify the car/driver amidst all the smoke and the focus on avoiding a collision, but fully expected him to come charging through the field and close the gap, so kept pushing as hard as I could.  With about 10 laps left, I was gifted 3rd, guessing one of the leaders had gotten a S/G.  While DD, as it turned out to be, closed the gap a liittle in the final part of the race, it was not enough as long as I could avoid any screw-ups, which I thankfully did.

Grats to Daz & Ziu.

Like Erling, I like the car & the track, but I didn't really like the combination of the two, just could not get a setup which made the car turn nicely into the slower corners but was stable through the fast turn at the end of the back straight.

The race. Basically just was not fast enough to challenge the leaders, but when I went off on the first lap it didn't really matter. After that it was just a case of getting as far up the rankings as possible & another off when I had to avoid running into Rog didn't help. Without the second error I may have nabbed 4th with DD getting an S/G, but realistically with the time lost on lap 1, my final position was the best I could expect.

Grats to Daz, Ziu & Erling.  clap clap clap

Yep - used your setup found in the online database for Monza (thxs  thumbup1 ), which was fine but didn't really work for this one.
Fortunately I found another one in the Salzburgring folder (by a guy named "... Leopardi" or so) which suits me better after some
time of settling in. Could improve by about half a second before I mixed up the gears while battling with Tony.
