International Daily Mirror Trophy
All Classes

Track: Snetterton 1964

Car restrictions: Drivers are limited to a maximum number of drives per Class. For more information please click HERE

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins) Drivers must not leave qualifying to change car make.
Race: 20:40 (30 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: There are no start lights. Suggest the start countdown feature be turned on.

We are trying to recreate the scoring used in the 1964 BSCC. This means that points are scored for finishing class positions but not for overall final race position. Points are 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.

I'm a bit confused - Minis and Cortinas are the stock ones as they were not included in the download ?

Daz and Geoffers, I watched the replay several times but I can't decide if it was my mistake or a racing incident. Apologies anyway and please shed your light on it
If it was my fault the game gods punished me with an exploding engine some laps later after a very entertaining battle with Fulvio. Thanks for that Fulvio.
Great series this is going to be.

That sounds like you had a conflict with another car type. It may never happen again.

Results and replay now posted.

A few teething troubles with the scoring system but nothing as bad as it could have been  sweatdrop

BTW most races in this series allow all classes. But Crystal Palace has one race for Class A cars only. Make sure you have a car reserved for this event.

Sent you a PM Dan.

Not a good night. First I had a similar problem to the Xmas race, the cars did not show up when joining the server, only cars selectable were GTC76 default ones. I was using the same GTL install I used for that race so thinking that was a coincidence I installed the cars in a different GTL install & it worked. So something is clearly wrong with that other install, will have to delete it & create a new one.

The race started badly with an incident at T1 which dropped me to the tail of the field. Gradually passed all the slower cars & caught up with the battle between Erling & Micha. Took a couple of laps to find a way past only to have a 3s game freeze moments later  Roll Eyes sorry guys. A couple of corners later I went up the bank & stalled the car losing around 20s. With only a few laps left there was no chance of catching back up, so came home a distant 7th.

Congrats to Hristo on the win & to Paddler, Micha & Matt on the class wins.  clap clap clap

Quite enjoyed that, though it got a bit lonely at times.
I tried a few cars, but liked the Mini here, I thought it would do the fast turns better than the Anglebox
but surprisingly it was actually a bit faster on the straights.

Managed to pull out a lead over Ziu, then was so busy watching the Battling Bulgarians when they lapped me
I forgot to brake for the hairpin, and went straight on into the farmyard....which let Ziu in front.
Managed to get back on track and then slowly caught and passed Ziu (not often I get the say that  Roll Eyes )
then held a few seconds lead up to the finish.

I added these cars to my main, mostly standard install. (new system, some newish installs) and I saw no issues
at all. No invisible cars, or anyone in the pace car etc.

Grats to Hristo, Andy and Paddler.

For my second comeback race of the new SROUK GTL Season at 64 Snetterton I chose the Anglia. Probably the slowest car to drive for me being the slowest driver but good practice. I once owed an Anglia that was prepared (almost) for racing. I also drove round Snetterton in about 1964. Strangely I cant recall the circuit at all well and don't remember the bridge. It was only one lap.

I decided to hang back at the start, get into the race and see how things went. My main aim was to finish the race and see what lap time I could achieve.

For the first couple of laps I was just behind Eifelblitz until at the sharp right-hand corner at the end of the long straight I managed to mess up my gear change, changing from fourth to third and then to fourth (instead of second) I managed to replicate this again later at the same corner. I got round the corner safely but instead of being in E's boot I was about fifty yards behind by the time I got back up to speed. I put in a few steady laps the came across E again picking up speed. I guess he had had a moment. For a few laps I was on his tail, at times trying to work out where I might pass him but also at times wondering if I could keep up with him. Unfortunately the fun ended when he went a bit wide, hit a bank and decided to perform aerobatics. I just managed to miss him when he landed but I think I actually ducked.

The rest of the race was lonely. Tony was too fast and too far ahead of me and it seemed every time I was on my fastest lap I had to slow to let Falcons past, then Jags and then Alfa's. I did manage to keep on the track and not hit anything and I think my pace was a little better than my previous race so if this rate of progress continues by the end of the year....

As there is no Golf to play or practice for, no Classic Car Meets or Runs, Meetings or Events to go to, Restaurants or Pubs to visit during lockdown it occurs to me I could do a little GTL practice.

Grats to winner and podiums and all. BTW I really like the 1964 TC and VW Sirocco formats. thumbup1
