MY sympathy to Geoffers and his probable Win10 update glitches. Over in GPL, I have experienced updates that totally screwed my install and I have had to start again from scratch, losing all my setups in the process!! Now I have an external hard drive where all my important simracing folders are stored and updated every week. Worryingly there is a Win10 update lurking on my PC that I have postponed since early January and it keeps offering to do it's thing.............I am not letting that happen until I am 200% sure that I have ALL files and folders backed up, with a successful trial retrieval under my belt. I hope you get your PC woes sorted Geoffers it is disconcerting finding you slumming it with mere mortals in the midfield  Roll Eyes.

I think maybe I was seduced by the easy option for both races, and my liking for big American V8s. So it had to be the Falcon.

I have watched these cars at the Goodwood Revival several times in years past and they are hugely entertaining.

For a while I thought that I was going to be in a lone Falcon for Race 1, the Erling joined the battle and things were very close on the front of the grid. My biggest problem in qually was the immense speed difference between the Falcon and the rest and finding a clear lap where I could exploit all that power. I suspect that Erling had similar issues. I am not complaining at all about the driving of the other cars. As far as I am concerned, if you are on a qualifying lap in a slower car and you are giving 101%, you are entitled to hold your line and complete the lap. Only out laps and spoiled laps require drivers to clear a path.
Race 1 was all about small errors between Erlingand myself. I did fluff a couple of gearchanges which resulted in some buttock clenching moments on the grass in a large piece of Yankee iron, travelling very sideways and tearing up the Goodwood lawns. The mistake score ended in my favour by a single digit and I was fortunate to take the win.
Race 2
Falcon again because I was feeling comfortable with the gearshifts and where they needed to be done ( very important when you are inept with an H shift!!) Although I squeaked pole by the narrowest of margins, Erling was too quick off the line and I was back in 2nd spot before Madgewick.........not part of my script!!
The rest of the race was a re-run of Race 1, but this time my error score was higher than Erlings.

There were a lot of Jag 3.8MKII s in last nights races and some of you might have picked up that I am having an issue with this car. Basically, GTL refuses to let me select it  Undecided
I have all of the files for the Jag in my Gamedata/Teams/TC-64 directory. #'s 7,9,32,39,71,81 & 87. Tony was kind enough to send me a copy of his own Jaguar 3.8 MK II folder which obviously works on his PC, and I have overwritten my install, just in case mine was corrupted.
On the server I can see all of you guys in your shiny Jags on track.
I can switch CARS and view the internals of your Jag as you drive around.
All of the above suggests that GTL can see and read those files to create the Jag graphics on the track?

However, when I go to My Garage, and select the Jaguar 3.8 MK II car set, I get 7 greyed out icons each with a padlock and no small pics of the various skins. The main pic has defaulted to the Cobra ( which to me suggests that GTL is NOT reading the graphics files?), and I cannot SELECT or BUY.
Weirdly, if I click on the SHOWROOM button, I get a nice rotating picture of the respective Jag in any of it's optional skins. I have clicked on all 7 greyed out icons and all come up with the correct number and colour scheme.
I have reviewed the Snetterton race where AFAIK I was using one of these Jags, but I now think that I must have selected one of the 2 available GTL standard Jaguar MK IIs?

I was relieved that my probs with the Jag did not interfere with anyone else's racing and if there had been any suspicion of an issue I would have quit the race. But at some point I will have to use the Jaguar, so I would appreciate any suggestions as to how I can get me a Jag ( Tony is suffering from a nasty headache ATM  Wink )

Two tough, frustrating, rewarding and entertaining races.  Goodwood seemed very well suited for the Falcon. I had very little time to practice, but also tried the Alfa as a backup solution.  Absolutely loved the car, but would like to save it for more twisty tracks, so Falcon remained 1st choice.  Surprised to find myself the only one in this car when I joined (were you on the server already Clive?).  That Clive would use it too came as no surprise though  Cool

Got a start in race 1 that Dan would have appreciated, and kept the lead.  Clive went off at St.Mary's early on, giving me a small gap, but he slowly clawed his way back, aided by small mistakes from me.  Then at one point, his car disappeared after we passed St.Mary's, and I thought he had gone off good and proper.  Later that lap, while approahcing Woodcote, he suddenly reappeard right behind me out of the blue!!  Found myself wondering if he had taken a shortcut accoss the infield after going off, but replay suggests computer glitch, with his car frozen at St.Mary's for a long time - you can see it in Dimitar's video as well.

Late in the race, I ran a tiny bit wide at Woodcote, but enough to let Clive position himself on the inside line into the chicane.  No other option than to brake and let him through - otherwise we would probably both have gotten jammed solid in the chicane; sure the rest of the field would have appreciated that...  Cheesy   Next lost time in traffic and then went off at St.Mary's two laps in a row, ending any chances of a comeback.

Clive on pole for race 2, but a repeat of the start secured me the lead again.  This time I did a mistake early on, coming out of the chicane fishtailing, which let Clive grab the lead. Not bl.... again!!!  Cursing myself and determined to fight until the last drop of blood, I tossed the anchor chain after Clive's car.  After a couple of harassment laps, he took the hint and went off at St.Mary's  Cheesy  Back in the lead then, and this time managed to keep it till the end.

Grats to Clive, Dimitar & Micha for win & podiums

Clive, no idea what your Jag problem is, but the 'Cobra graphics' is something I frequently see myself with custom cars. I think it gets shown when the modders haven't bothered making the necessary graphics for the car.

Yes, I have

Jaguar 3.8 MK II
   Wt         1305kg
  power      187kw
  Max rpm  6500
  Class        FIA TC-65

and a pretty picture of a Jag rotating with the correct number on the door.

Erling is correct. The cobra shows when a modder hasn't bothered to create a BIK file (moving or still image of the car).

So the BSCC Jags show as a Cobra. Same for everyone and not part of Clive's problem.

So the BSCC Jags show as a Cobra. Same for everyone and not part of Clive's problem.

I sort of understood that the Cobra graphic is a default when there is no dedicated pic of the relevant car, but I thought that I would try and paint the whole picture of my issue.

BTW Tony suggested that I create a new profile as a possible way around the problem, but the result was exactly the same.

What I cannot get my head around is that GTL is obviously accessing the files in order to "draw" the cars on track, and to put them in the showroom. So, why are they greyed out and locked to prevent me driving them??  I am racking my mind to find reasons why any cars would NOT be available?

It won't let you purchase one at all Clive?

If you don't purchase it you can't use it from memory....I'm saying this presuming it is much too simple a solution, but you never know....

Have you installed the 'unlock everything' file Clive, not having that is the only reason I can think of to still have things locked. You need to install it before you create a new profile if I remember correctly. Just a thought, but if you can access the other cars I guess that is not the problem.

Decided to just get the Jag out of the way, it's a bit of fun I know, but is all a bit unwieldy.....

Race 1, not a bad effort in Quali (sorry Geoff) and then a half decent start to get away from some of the smaller cars......But, I knew all they needed to do was sort themselves out and they would be hareing after me for sure. And the emerging force from the pack was Tony, and he proceeded to drive with great consistency, just a little bit quicker than I could really go with the Jaaaaag. Then I had a little too much enthusiasm with the right foot exiting the chicane, losing most of the 2 second lead I had, which gave him a lovely slipstream to tuck into from the fat bottomed Mk2. I held him at bay for a couple of laps whilst he looked at where to go through, he had obviously spotted how much speed I was having to scrub off at Madgwick, and he whooshed past in a daring move and just drove away. Was a good dice though, and a cracking overtake thumbup2.

Race 2, went a touch faster in quali again (sorry Geoff), but with more faster cars this time was much further back. Made a good jump from the line, but then the traditional Goodwood scenario that you see so often at the Revival and Members Meeting happened, and I just couldn't get across to take the corner, there was a car in the way all the time, and I had no option but to try the outside run, inevitably ending up by being sent too wide and onto the grass. Managed a bunch of decent laps to catch up to Geoffers, and then just made a nuisance of myself in his mirrors (sorry Geoff) until he wobbled at St.Marys, and I drove though and away. Did two quick laps, pulled a gap, then was content I wasn't going to go much further so stayed at a good pace without being daft.....But, in contrast to race 1, things didn't remain this way, as the last few laps were punctuated with 4 or 5 run of the circuit moments, all of which on the brakes where the car just wouldn't stop for all the pressing I had been doing before. I did tweak the setup between races, so I am putting it down to that. Lost a load of places and time for what were very simple mistakes, but that's racing.

Glad to have the fat cat done to be honest!

Grats to all the winners, Falcons in a total class of their own here......

@ Daz

It is just not possible for me to purchase any of these Jags.
The car list has an entry for "Jaguar 3.8 MK II" in the left hand list. Selecting that car brings up the animation of the Cobra ( we know why that is there ) and a column of greyed out icons on the right hand side of the screen, each with a small padlock symbol. There are 7 icons which matches the number of skin options in the 64 folder. Clicking on an icon and then selecting the SHOWROOM button brings up a lovely graphic of the correctly numbered car, in it's specific livery, in the showroom complete with all the performance stats, but the SELL button is greyed out and there is no option to BUY.

and Geoffers
The unlock everything tag is active as is proved by being able to get at all the other '64 cars for this series...except the Jag. I cannot see that it can be switched on or off for specific cars? it is either working or it is not?

From where are you trying to buy the car Clive ?

Is it from the car dealer, or after going for practice or similar event, and then trying to buy a car you don't have already?

From the car dealer, I also get the padlock symbol on some cars, including the Jag 3.8, but selecting the car and getting the rotating showroom animation lets me buy it no problem.  The sell button I only see if I go to my own garage, and it's greyed out for many cars - seemingly those with value '0'.

Just did a short offline race at Goodwood with MKIIs only, using a stock one for myself.

Curiously enough all seven (!) '64 MKIIs (AI) were out after flipping over after less than half a lap Huh .
So the problem still persists, at least it's gone when you drive the car yourself.

There still seem to be some GTL secrets as I'm working at the moment at a physics update for the Skoda 130RS
which was obviously designed for GTL as a front-engined vehicle by mistake. The stock variants all turn from
the track within a short period of time (Goodwood too - or is it possibly a track issue? Will try other track for
evaluation purposes)

Apologies, I should have been clearer as Erling was, the Car Dealer is the option to go and buy from of course.
