Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: There are no start lights. Suggest the start countdown feature be turned on.

Mmmm, just went to test the Jag out around here for next weeks race &............. I cannot get it around St Marys without it flipping over. Anyone else tried it yet & having the same problem. Looks like I will have to try another car & save the Jag for somewhere else. Undecided

I can confirm Geoffer's issue.
I think Tony uses the wonderful skins & the physics of ervin58's "GTL Jaguar Mk. II. real mod 1.0"
which in fact has this particuler issue.
I did offline races with 30 cars or so and in the first corner about 10 cars flipping over.
Maybe combining the skins with the original physics or just using the original tyres could solve the problem.

edit: @Tony - totally forgot about that. I worked on solving the issue during summer 2019 for my private pleasure and wrote in a.m. thread:

Indeed - lowering the center of gravity is a possibility to eliminate or at least reduce the issue described above.

But the center of gravity is not it's cause.

As I was motivated to find the cause of the issue I played around a bit this afternoon:

I tried to replace step by step single lines in the 'general' section of the hdc by data from the original GTL MKII
and then replaced the tyres without any change.
Then I looked at the 'suspension' section of the hdc and compared it with the original GTL MKII and found
significant differences.

I'm not really deep in this topic so I decided to go back to ervin58's hdc file for keeping most of his changes ('high pressured tyre' and the complete 'general' section) and simply but completey replaced the 'suspension' section in the hdc by the original GTL specs and added the original GTL MKII sp file to the car.

That obviously solved the problem. Cars running fine now. I made this change first for the 3.8 only
and left the 4.2 as it was with the effect that only the 4.2 still had that issue.

I don't know, what exactly causes the problem but it was definitely in the 'suspension' section of the car and/or in the sp file.

edit2: Replacing of sp and tyr files with the original ones is necessary!

Thanks Kurt (although no one need to know about your private pleasure  Wink )

I'll have a test tomorrow and report back.

EDIT: I have now tested the car using original MkII tyres and suspension. No great improvement in pace but the car no longer tries to turn turtle at anything resembling a tight turn, although it does still lean a lot. But this can be offset by some setup tweaking I fancy.

I will pm a patch later this afternoon.

Thanks to Kurt for his detective work  detective

Does this explain why the Jag was such an ox-cart at Snetterton? The handling was IMHO woeful and the body lean was closer to  Citroen 2CV than a classic British performance saloon.

I had decided to use it and "get it out of the way" after trying  the Jag and 3 other cars during the afternoon prior to the race.

I didn't find it too bad at Snetterton after some setup tweaks. I certainly didn't roll it like at Goodwood.

It's still an Ox cart tho  Roll Eyes

I think the problem with Goodwood is it has quite a high grip level. I had a similar, although not quite as bad, problem with the Toyota Corolla we used in last year's 83ETCC series when I tested it at Goodwood. That would sometimes flip over if I took St Mary's too quick.

The Jag seemed fine at Snetterton & was fairly quick there, it isn't so competitive at Goodwood, I can get the Mini around nearly 2s faster.

No, It's your choice to change or stick. As long as your car roster has free cars your good to go.

Well, Race 1 was a little bit boring. The Sprints were too fast in front of me and the other cars behind me slower. So i finish in P3 without having a chance for something more.

For Race 2 i decided to save the Cortina for the later stages of the tournament in the last moment and decided to drive the Mini without having a single lap twith it on Goodwood.

I had great pace but, boy, the car had so much oversteer on braking. I was unable to control the car there and made at least 4 big mistakes that at the end let to P14.

Congrats to Clive nad Coyote on their wins and to Coyote, Clive and Micha on their podium finishes.

I decided on the Lotus for race 1 as it was pretty predictable to drive.

My race went well until the last lap at St Marys. I was being pressured by Micha, I think it was, driving a Mini very quickly though the twisty parts of the circuit. I was determined not to make a mistake as I could hold him on the straights if I got a good exit from the corners. I spent a microsecond too long checking my mirror to cover a possible dive down the inside and out-braked myself. Driving about fifty plus yards on grass slows you down and I lost two places trying to defend one. Apart from that moment I enjoyed the race.

I decided to take the Lotus again for race 2 to see if I could do it a bit more justice. I made a slight setup tweak. I don't know if it was that or if I just drove it better but I was a little quicker in the second race. Early in the race I had a Mini and another Lotus just behind me coming out from the chicane. Half way down the straight I was about to pull over to line up for turn one but on checking my mirror couldn't see the Mini so checked left and was surprised to see it along side me so I had to slow more than usual to take the inside line keeping the fast Mini on my outside (I think it was Dimitar). He went wide onto the grass and Fulvio in the other Lotus got a faster exit and passed me. I followed him comfortably for a lap or so but just when I was thinking about a possible passing stratergy I think he must have picked up his pace and I was struggling to hang on. Then his car suddenly froze on the track in front of me I lifted but he disappeared momntarily only to reappear on the grass. Very strange, a computer glitch I guess. That was the end of any intense racing. I had enough of a margin to maintain a good pace and bring the car home behind two Alfa's who were just a bit too quick for me. I would have liked a bit more racing with flavio or someone but nevertheless an enjoyable race.

Congrats to winners, podiums and all. clap clap clap

After sorting my pedal problem I was hoping for a couple of competitive outings in the Jag, however it didn't all go as planned. Joined practice & had just completed a couple of laps when the game froze & my PC shut down & restarted all by itself.  Undecided

OK, try again. All seemed fine during the rest of practice & qually, quite happy with my qually although Daz was around half a second faster in his Jag. Race started & was in the hunt on lap 1 but ran wide at Madgwick on lap 2 & went off again at St Mary's, so now right at the back. Picked off one or two cars before both Dan & Matt threw their Jags off the road elevating me to 2nd in class but way behind Daz. Then the game froze again & my computer again restarted itself. I had a Win10 update in the afternoon, coincidence Huh

I was then a bit wary of rejoining for race 2 in case it did it again & ruined someone else's race. Decided to see how qually went, if it happened again during that, then I would skip the race. Qually though went OK, still half a second slower than Daz Roll Eyes. Race started quite well, after disputing the class lead with Tony (where did Daz go?), I managed to get ahead & then Daz appeared behind me! Held him off for 3-4 laps until I ran a little wide at St Mary's & let him through. Resigned myself to class runner-up spot, but then Daz went off at Woodcote & I was back in front with a 9s cushion, so just had to keep it on track & hope the PC held up to take the class win, luckily it all worked out. Grin

Congrats to Clive & Erling on their victories & to all the other class winners.  clap clap clap
