I could be mistaken, but I think I had my G25 working on Win 10 before it broke, and I replaced it with a TM wheel
The internet is quite sure that the G29 works on Win 10.

FWIW I run a G25 wheel on Win10, I only used the Logitech Profiler that came with the wheel to set things up. ( Current experiments with Bodnar cables and Linux are a totally separate dilemma).

About 2 yrs ago I actually purchased a shiny new G29 wheel and pedals and despite hours of fumbling around and d/loading Logitech drivers etc., I had zero luck in getting Win10 to "see" it. After 3 or 4 days I actually returned the wheel for a refund and struggled on with my increasingly worn G25.

After my abysmal pace in last night's race I found the time today to watch Dimitar's video in the hope of seeing where that shortcut is hiding. My thanks to Hristo who tried to offer me some coaching pre race. I tried both DD's and Hristo's setups and opted for H's revised version that I found slightly more stable.

I was around 8-9 secs per lap off the leader's pace and did not post a sub 2:00 lap, even in qualifying. My fragile ego can live with not being able to run at alien pace, but the time difference was huge!!  blink

Well, the first thing that stood out was how much later DD was braking  Shocked Shocked. From what I could see he was applying the brakes as he passed under the 150mtr board? When I tried that ( on multiple occasions with the same setup) we went straight to the scene of the accident and implanted a Mustang into the concrete wall!! I can say now that I had zero hope of stopping the car before I hit the outer wall even if I made no attempt to take the corner. Exactly how he had the grip to slow down and turn in ( apparently under complete control) 25 mtrs before I could even contemplate turning the wheel  I have no idea. The later braking must account for maybe 0.5 secs per major corner? I had to start braking 50mtrs BEFORE that board and still wrestled with the beast to avoid hitting the outer wall!!
What was also a little hard to take was that when he stood on the gas at the exit, the car went where he was pointing it!! My Mustang objected strongly to being "muscled" and would rotate the rear end around and send me into the barriers. I had to treat the GO pedal with the utmost respect to avoid slamming into the walls. Hristo's v2 setup was certainly better when the power went down, but did not improve my pace.

So my first question to DD is,  "Are you trail braking? i.e. keeping 20% throttle on until you turn in? ( I tried that but could not see any benefit ).

I watched DD through those ESSES. The first 3 elements are almost a straight line, so I think that it all comes down to getting the line and the speed right for the last section and to avoid hitting the concrete wall at the exit.  All about carrying speed out of that complex? Again, even with the same setup, I had to be slower or the car just would not make that last flick to the left without sliding into the wall.

I have deduced that it is not me, but my wheel and pedals that are faulty  Roll Eyes. Just a thought though guys, what settings are people running from the GTL/CONTROLS/SENSITIVITY menu?? I run all settings at 100% for Wheel/ Accelerator/brake/clutch, but maybe that makes things too twitchy??

I guess it is a lot of things here Clive for such a big gap. Did you watch my new Brake/Acceleration information on the left down side of my screen. You can see that i am using throttle while downshifting to keep the car stable. And i had those problems with less fuel as well - the car was oversteering on braking. And i use a lot of engine braking as well, since my early Formula 1 days around 2007, 2008 Cheesy

And from what i see most of the drivers were loosing ton of pace on the first 2 corners, not daring to risk there, but maybe this was the right strategy as i hit the barrier on turn 1 at the beginning of the race.

Don't forget that this setup is for MY drivng style, so it's totally normal that i am more comfortable with it.

My wheel settings: https://ibb.co/bLYftXY

I drive with different Force feedback setting. I think i uploaded them here, but nobody liked them.

Feel free to ask more questions Clive. I hope i can help.

Clive, I can't brake as late as Dimitar either, but you're wrong to think he gains 0.5 sec per corner by doing that. In fact I think he's losing a bit of time overall by braking too late for most of the corners, because it compromises how early he can put the throttle on. I've been trying to convince him about it for a year now  Cheesy I managed a 51.5 twice during practice, so he was still half a second or more slower. It's just that I couldn't repeat any of that during qualifying.

When I was watching you drive in practice, I noticed that you use WAY too much throttle under braking, which prolongs your braking distance, and you also carry too little speed through most turns, especially the chicanes, taking them at cruise speed rather than at controlled deceleration or acceleration.

As a whole, with this car, it's imperative to really keep it going, because it is so heavy that it doesn't turn well on its own and it tends to lose a lot of speed, especially when the revs drop. It's a constant dancing with the throttle to keep it rotating, but it has to be delicate and just enough, with the steering wheel giving secondary inputs to correct the direction of travel.

It's difficult to give exact tips by chat alone, without being physically present to see the actual inputs you're doing with your wheel and pedals, and talking with each other. I'm pretty sure just about anyone here can improve massively if they can be shown certain aspects of how to do things.

Dimitar's style is very particular in that he likes an understeery car and compensates for it by turning in sharply, so it doesn't work for anyone. I can rarely drive his setups and usually opt to go for more neutral or oversteering settings, as I'm used to less steering input from my GPL years. If that's what you also tend to do, then you really have to focus more on exploiting the way the car reacts under braking and acceleration, with modulation of both pedals. It's where the key is, in my opinion.

Most of you guys, from what I could see, were driving this like a road car and not a racing car. You just let it roll too much on its own and don't force it into turning faster and keeping the speed through the turns. I wish I could record some videos where I could explain and demonstrate all these things, but I'm really bad at doing such things verbally, plus my room is a mess  Grin

The internet is quite sure that the G29 works on Win 10.

Yes it does, or did until the latest GHub update & it is only GTL that it has cocked up, RRE & AC still run fine.

By the way, congrats to Hristo on some amazing pace & to Manfred & Daz on the podium.  clap clap clap

Silly me, I did no practise for this, but it seemed the setup from Sandown was good enough to get reasonably competitive, so just stuck with what I had. That got me a low 55, so miles off the pace at the front. Got me thinking maybe there was something in the setup after all. Tried Dimitars after the race, immediately put me on a high 53, but that was your lot. Any attempt to go quicker just resulted in a Mustang/wall interface of fairly extreme proportions. I should go and try Hristos setup given his commentary on the style of Dimitar, as understeer is kryptonite as far I am concerned, but probably won't until the next outing in the car as I'm not that big a fan of it...

As for the race, went both better and exactly as I thought it might. Ran hard early on, taking 3rd initially, and then 2nd when DD had the incident at the first chicane. Was nice and steady, Manfred was behind but not a big threat as he couldn't get close enough, with Hristo pulling away with ease.....but then hit the wall letting Manfred through, and then hit various other walls at least another 3 times when pressuring him, the last of which just ruined the car. At that point I gave up the chase and just brought it home. Still hit the wall another 3 times without trying.

Tough combo, grats to the finishers one and all.

Sorry for my bad entry at the first chicane hitting Matt and Erling, I hadn't pressed in time the right pedal... Embarrassed
Luckily not too much damage for you and a cut for me.
I was lucky to avoid many stationary cars crashed on the chicanes and ended ahead of Christian even if my pace was way slower.
Clive what did you put in the tank that your car was smoking so bad on the straights that I couldn't see a thing in the esses?  Grin
