Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: There are no start lights. Suggest the start countdown feature be turned on. Avoid going off at Knickerbrook. There is a hole in the surface that you may fall into. Also avoid the RH side of the track by the first tree on the RH side after the pit lane exit. There is an invisible obstacle there.

Did a few laps in the Jaguar, using my Brands setup and making it stiffer all around helped a lot. Best so far - 1:49.578. Uploaded the setup (v2) to the online DB.

Bit of a farce that. Went off and got stuck in a lake race 1, hung around for race 2, at the start Erling and I were put on the grass at pit exit  Shocked
Erling had stopped so got to start in pole  Grin I was still moving on the grass so got a jump start...

Same here Matt; served the jump start S/G and completed the race, but rather pointless  Undecided

Congrats, Daz! I should have taken the Giulia in race 1 and the Jag in race 2, to have any chance for the final standings  Roll Eyes

Sorry to Clive for the tap at T1 in race 1, I just did not expect such a speed differential on the exit of the corner, plus you had a wobble which made things worse. A nice chase afterwards when you recovered though, hope you enjoyed that one.  Grin

Race 2 was rather lonely, though I enjoyed pushed the Giulia to its limits, especially on worn out tyres when I suddenly found a way to extract another second out of it, putting in personal best times for 5 laps in a row! It still wasn't enough to compete with Daz's Cortina though, despite him losing more than 10 seconds at one point.

Congrats to Geoffers for the double win and for taking the title in the other 2 classes! Grats to Andy for the podium as well!

Apologies for taking the easy option of the Falcon, but I thought that if I could win both races I could just nick the class win in the championship.

So basically not the most exciting of races, although driving the Falcon around Oulton is far from boring. Andy kept up a good pace behind me in the first race so I could not afford any major mistakes but unfortunately he failed to make the start in the second race after improving his time in qually.

Congrats to Hristo, Andy & Daz on their podiums.  clap clap clap

And congrats to Daz on winning the championship & Class B & to Hristo on winning Class C.  clap clap

I was returned to the desktop as I went to the grid in race 2. Maybe this was all part of the same glitch as Matt and Erling's weirdness and Dan's non start too.

In race 1 I squeaked ahead of Clive and Dan in the Falcon formation on the grid. Dan's start put him ahead, but was wagging his tail a lot. After one wag too many, he was off and with Clive off on lap1, the race was decided by the end of lap2. I didn't know if the tyres would last, so I was careful to be clean, not expecting an unexpected error from Geoffers, or a change in position.

Grats to Geoffers on the wins and class wins and to Daz and Hristo for the other class wins. It was an interesting series with oddly mismatched cars. I enjoyed using some car choice strategy to score points to make up for my lack of skill. That's enough for me for now. The wheel is off the desk and packed away. Thanks to Tony for organisation.

I think I've took the title mainly by missing less races by the looks of it. Only on one individual class podium but winner outright, doesn't seem right somehow! Grin

Had to use up a Cortina drive, and then had the choice of the Mini or the Anglia, and given choice it'll always be RWD for me.

Fun race in race 1 pestering some quicker cars whilst pedalling the Anglia, with some successes and some failures along the way. Race 2 was set to be a little more competitive when Hristo arrived in the Alfa, but the Cortina was just a little quicker on punch out of the corners judging by the way the gap would open a touch on the straights, so a pass for him on me would have been tricky I think. I had been on it in the early part of the race to pull a nice gap, but then lost it at Cascades with a little touch on the gravel on the inside, and was lucky to get away in front still. Forced me to focus more, and I brought it home for the win eventually.

Series was good fun, nice to have a mix of cars on some of the tracks, although the Falcon was so dominant there was rarely the chance for a lower class car to take the outright win. Ended up being all quite close, so kept the interest all the way to the end. Great stuff Tony.

I could blame you H, but that would be a little unfair  Roll Eyes. The FF gremlin decided to make an appearance as we left the grid for Race1 and I was trying to hold the mighty Falcon straight with a steering wheel that was totally without feel and avoid ploughing into anyone else. At the same time I was reaching over the wheel on my rig ( in the dark!!) to hit Alt/F and restore the FF, so I was probably wobbling around and a bit slow??!
The resultant "OFF" parked my Falcon behind a tree, facing the wrong way and stalled the engine  Undecided., frantic searching for neutral and the correct START button on the wheel lost another few seconds Undecided.

Once we got moving in the correct direction I was at least half a lap down. Sad
It was fun hurling that aircraft carrier through the bends and stomping on the gas down the straights. One by one I slipped, almost unnoticed I think, past a numjber of cars and slowly I was closing on Hristo and hoping to at least claim 3rd spot. At least twice it was H's lack of speed that caught me out through corners ( it is not very often I get to say that!!  Grin) and I was forced to abort to the grass, before closing him down again.
Once I was past I had a warm glow until I looked at the fuel??? 8 laps to go and only 2 galls of fuel ...WTF???!!! I know that I spent most of qually on race fuel level and the projected laps I had "in tank" were consistently 23 laps worth. So where the fuel went I have no idea??  Undecided
So I opted for a pit stop....which I totally screwed up and emerged with nice shiny tyres but no fuel! Now I was so far behind that I could not hope to regain any places ...so I quit.

Race 2
I totally forgot that there was a race 2 Huh

Grats to the class winners and thanks to Tony for putting this series together. As has been said, the mixture of cars was great and the temptation to take a smaller class of car and do some giant killing was always there....except against the Falcons lol.

A somewhat fizzled end to this series last night.  Race 1 was ok, especially the first half.  Got to a lofty, but unsustainable 3rd overall, when Hristo & Clive had their argument on L1.  Held it for a while, but eventually Hristo & Clive caught up and passed.  At this point, I had a fair gap to my true opponents, so 2nd half of the race was a little lonely. Mostly a matter of maintaining focus and avoid giving the Cortina any opportunities to mug me! (It likes to do that...)

Race two was spoiled by that bug, which placed Matt & myself on the grass in the pit area.  Tried escape & rejoin repeatedly, to no avail.  Very weird and one would think it was related to the car or car class, as we were both in Anglias, but then, why wasn't Daz affected in race 1  Huh

Got a false start S/G, as I didn't know how to start from pit lane.  Served it and completed the race, although quite pointless.  Shame Matt left, as we apparently faced the same odds, we could maybe have had a race after all.

Series like this, with multiple classes always presents a bit of a dilemma:  Should you go for an unpopulated class or one with easier opponents, to score some points for the championship, or instead go for one promising some competition, but one you can't possibly win?  In addition it's quite time consuming, making preparations for several classes, to cover all bases.  At times I had to make a choice and stick to it, only having one car prepared, for lack of time.  When you then go online and find you're the only one in that class, what do you do?

As mentioned earlier, I really missed the aspect of getting points for overall position.  Anyway, big thanks to Tony for setting it up and thanks to all particpating.
