There was something strange about the Aston Martin.
I was 4 seconds slower than any other Aston Martins.
The car accelerated very poorly.
I had the problem with all skins.

Miraculously I had my "fastest"  Tongue Roll Eyes laps in the Aston (#77: 1:22.629) - 250 GTO: 1:24.254 - E-Type (#58: 1:23.743) although
I only practiced in the Jag skin #2 (really love that particular skin, but wheelstyle L seems to have a graphic issue - are there some
special graphic settings required).

Looks like a nice series with some nice skins I've never seen before.

there looked to be two versions of the Aston grill. Didn't look to be any difference in speed though.

hmmmmm?...................let me ponder upon that and the possible results ( and comments)  Tony Smiley

It is becoming very clear that I need to get get more precise with my shifting as there are far too many errors on my part.

Until I started using the H shift I would never have thought that shifting out of 2nd, and not quite pushing the lever far enough to correctly engage 3rd, and  selecting "neutral" for maybe 0.5 secs before correcting the shift would carry such a penalty in speed/time. It was particularly noticeable at Albi with the two long straights where a fluffed upshift would cost me 50mtrs by the time we got to the braking zone.
Then, there were a series of catastrophic downshifts where I was attempting to shift cleanly down through the gearbox in the braking zone. I lost count of the times that I managed to miss out 2 gears ( 4-1, 5-2 instead of 4-3 or 5-4). I can reveal that it does nothing for the stability of the car or the health of the engine!  Roll Eyes

There were even a couple of upshifts where I went from 2-5 on a 4 speed gearbox!!!, that was interesting as it results in a totally dead engine just when you expect max power  Undecided I think that it effectively stalls the engine and when the correct gear position is selected the engine effectively "bump" starts and continues.

I should also apologise for the start in Race 1. Something else I have discovered is, that if I leave the car in gear at the end of my last qualifying run and forget to select neutral before going to the grid, the engine stalls immediately and is dead. But, with all of the other cars engines revving I could not hear that mine was dead. So, when the lights changed and I floored the gas...nothing happened  Shocked. I had to re-select neutral and re-start the engine whilst cars behind were trapped....sorry guys  Undecided  I need to concentrate more on what I am doing with the shifter until muscle memory kicks in.

I tested the Aston Martin online yesterday morning and drove a 1.21 without any problems. Last night in the race with the same setup only a 1.25 was possible.
Very strange.

The wheels of the #2 Jag look identical to the wheels on the standard GTL #820 to me.

Yes, very strange, as Manfred said some of the cars were 2-3-4 seconds slower. I noticed that the slow car that i talk about in page 1 was with 820 number and didn't hade the "GC" on the server menu, only on the game menu when we chose a car and skin.

Boffins have been contracted to investigate and have just reported............

"In depth analysis has revealed that the probable area of concern is not the lever or the shifter mechanism, but the bio-mechanical entity engaging with it, and possible software deficiencies within that module."

Three very fun and interesting events.

In Race 1 i was unlucky not to start well. Coyote was unlucky and hit my car. The car went upside down and i needed 1 minute to start the engine twice and find the right direction.

Race 2 was better. I got the pole with my Aston Martin and kept the lead before a mistake on penultimate corner. Daz was now on the lead and Dan just behind him.

I was able to overtake Dan and start chasing Daz. We had a good battle for the lead even though our cars touched few times. Unfortunately Daz made a mistake at the same place like me and it was now me vs Manfred for the win. I was able to stay with his tempo and won the event with around 2 seconds lead.

Race 3 was tougher. I had to start from second row and made a terrible start once again.

I was now down to P6 and had so many luck because 3 drivers ahead of me had problems. At the end a stupid mistake where i lost 1 second didn't gave me the chance to fight with Manfred and Coyote for the win.

Congrats to the winners and the podium drivers.

The evenings events started well but rapidly went downhill as the races progressed, but still had an enjoyable time.

First race in the Aston was quite straightforward, took the lead from pole & after Daz made a mistake on lap 1 I was able to pull away from Matt & build a comfortable lead before Daz recovered to 2nd.

Race 2 in the Ferrari started well, I was on the tail of the lead battle until I ran off track at T1 & dropped back. Had a few laps dicing with Daz after he made an error. The Ferrari was quicker on the straights but Daz's Jag was a bit better in the turns. Eventually the battle was resolved when I spun at the Aerodrome turn & dropped to 6th behind Fulvio & Dan.

The Jag for the final race was good enough for 2nd on the grid. Erling got the lead at the start & I hassled him for the opening laps but again made a mistake at Aerodrome & dropped behind DD & Manfred. Next lap the car ground to a halt, some muffin had neglected to put any fuel in after qualifying  Roll Eyes, heads will roll I tell you  gun_bandana

Congrats to DD & Erling on their wins & to all on the podiums.  clap clap clap

2/3 hopeless and 1/3 brilliant evening.  Was on 2nd grid row in race 1 and regrettably got a good start, since Dimitar didn't and I ended up bumping his car in that stupidly dense grid of this track.  The reaction seemed out of all proportion as his car veered left into Dan's path and ultimately rolling into the wall. Apologies to both for this (in reality of course a devious plan to use DD to thwart Dan's usual superstart...  whistling).  As DD har remarked, he took a long time to get going again, and after waiting for that, there was no recovery possible for me.

Messed up my hot lap in race 2 qual, landing midfield of the grid.  Early part of L1 went ok; I gained a place at the end of the back straight, and was narrowly missed by a wayward car.  However, a few corners later, I had to throw myself off track, to avoid taking out Manfred under braking. Dropped me from 6th to 10th. Apologies to Clive & Kurt - my clumsy rejoin wasn't quite as discrete as I imagined..  Chased after Roger for several laps, with Clive close behind, until he spun off under braking - presumably a shifter issue.  Got past Roger at the end of the back straight only to throw it away again in the final corner of the lap.  Had to do the hard work all over, but almost lost it several times, dropping back again.  Got past Matt and later Roger again.  Late in the race Geoffers showed up in front. Dunno why he was so slow that I could keep up, but it was too tempting a scalp to ignore.  On the final lap, I succesfully outbraked him at the end of the back straight. Unfortunately I also outbraked myself; just couldn't hold the car, sliding off, letting both Geoffers & Roger through  Roll Eyes

Race 3 finally gave some vindication on a so far disastrous evening.  On the front row and snatched the lead.  Geoffers in close attendance behind over the early laps. He eventually made a move at the end of the back straight. Light contact going into the turn and he got a little out of shape. Thought it might be my fault, so backed off until he recovered.  With other members of the ravenous pack closing in, I had to floor it and kept the lead. Replay suggests Geoffers got into trouble on his own and that my car in fact may have prevented his from losing the rear  Wink   After this Geoffers dropped back and regrettably retired (to fire his pit crew..).  He was replaced with a just as persistent Manfred and it took all I could muster to keep him behind for the remainder of the race.

Grats to winners and podium sitters.

I had picked all three GC cars, but Paddler's and mine's Aston were way slower than others. I have to test better the Aston before next race.
