Looks like this is why Simbin haven't released a proper dedicated server....

Quote
Introducing RaceMore - Phase One
================================

What is RaceMore?
o RaceMore is the place where sim-racing can be enjoyed as a hobby or taken to the level of a sport
o If a quick racing fix is what you need then RaceMore is the place to get it
o  If league racing and real hardcore competitions is for you then RaceMore is the place to be
o If you are looking for a place to meet other sim racing fans from around the world then RaceMore is the place for you

By having a close relationship with SimBin Development Team, RaceMore is able to offer features that will be exclusive to RaceMore and its users.

RaceMore Features:
o High-end low ping game servers
o Web based server list/lobby system that allows for the user to automatically join servers simply by clicking the server name in the server list
o A chat system that offers many different topic and language driven rooms
o A chat system that allows the users to share setup files, MoTeC logs and replay files directly through the chat interface
o Comprehensive statistics tracking on all RaceMore servers
o Driver profiles with full statistics

Phase One is the open trial period where all areas of RaceMore are free. The duration of Phase one has not yet been determined, but will allow for all users to get familiar with the options and features on RaceMore.

The use of RaceMore will be open to all and we welcome everyone to come and spend time on RaceMore. Should your ambitions with Online Racing be to participate in organized RaceMore competitions and events or race in one of the forthcoming RaceMore leagues, then there will be additional subscription based options available.

After Phase one, access to RaceMore servers, statistics and other features of the RaceMore interface will require a subscription fee.

RaceMore Phase One will be officially launched on the 1st of May, 2005. Detailed information on how to use the RaceMore system will be released at that time.

Will be interesting to see what the subscription fee is to use this service.

And also to find out if they plan to offer "proper" leagues like ours some sort of hosting deal. Huh

LOL. No new dedicated server, in fact no changes to it at all.
No multiplayer fixes.
A new lobby (good news) but it doesnt work very well, at least you get to find out it's broken within seconds now instead of minutes.

I see you can' t even connect to the lobby now with 1.3, you have to 'upgrade'

That's not suprising really, with all the changes they have made to the lobby. If they'd tried to make it backwards compatible it would have taken even longer to come out.

Well that's it then  Undecided

For me, the worst of it is I don't have a clue what to expect now, will it be long before we know a little more about how the league situation will go?

Will there have to be another 'Season 0' to test whatever needs testing?

Difficult to say Adrian. I'd be suprised if Simbin can get a server booking and management system working quickly.

The new lobby does seem to be an improvement, hopefully this one can deal with the load of a busy evening without spitting half the drivers onto the backup.

No it doesn't cope with a busy evening, I tried for 30 mins last night and only ended up on the backup server Sad

Just for your information though I found out that if you log on to the Racemore site then you are not restricted to the backup lobby you can see all the severs so you can actually join from there..... Yes I found this out after 30 mins.

So if you are having trouble logging in then go to website, you can still join the chat rooms etc but from outside the game, quite nice actually rather than loading up to find out it's not working Smiley

Well only if you're running Internet Explorer. RaceMore doesn't work with Firefox. :'(

Yeah, was a bit annoyed about having to run explorer..... and just to add to my previous post it doesn't work through racemore, u can see server but when you run the game from there it says 'Game has disappeared' because it is actually logging you on the backup server before starting the game....

RaceMore also seems to struggle when it's busy, quite often a lot of servers are missing from it's lobby list. You can get around this by pressing the refresh button on your browser until you get them all. Took about a dozen tries yesterday before I could see them all.

I'm trying to give racemore a fair go, I really am.

Just trying to activate my profile on there and one of three things happens-

1. Racemore refuses to accept my CD-Key (not at all happy about having to give that away either btw)

2. Racemore refuses to accept my CD-Key and then crashes IE.

3. Racemore crashes IE.

Looks like I'll be using regular vanilla flavoured GTR for a good while yet Angry
