In the constructor's championship we have Nissan and not Datsun. Is this correct?

In the constructor's championship we have Nissan and not Datsun. Is this correct? Strictly speaking no, but Dave has listed some older Datsun's as Nissan in our car database.

In the constructor's championship we have Nissan and not Datsun. Is this correct? Strictly speaking no, but Dave has listed some older Datsun's as Nissan in our car database. Strictly speaking the 240Z was actually the Nissan Fairlady Z - it was "only" in export markets (i.e. almost everywhere outside of Japan) it was badged as the Datsun 240Z, largely because Nissan US realised that marketing a brawny sportscar as the "Fairlady" was likely to result in hairdresser jokes... The Datsun brand was only ever a sub-brand of Nissan.

Result Found a very suitable setup for the Opel GT in one of the Nordschleife online folders. Great chase with Fulvio over more than four laps. He was just behind me at the end of lap one when I missed my braking point before Suedkehre and he could pass. So he changed from hunter to hunted Great fun. Only two small mistakes - once I met gear 2 instead of gear 4 (fortunately Tony has deactivated engine damage ). Despite a very short off in lap five I had another PB. Nice

Always enjoy a race at the Nordschleife & the Opel was quite a nice drive, but as is often the case at Nords the race was fairly lonely. DD was awesomely fast & there was no way I could keep up with him & similarly I was able to ease away from Erling who was mainly the occupant of 3rd place. I was also pleased with my race pace as I had not lapped below 8.40 in testing, practice or qually & managed three successive laps in the mid 8.30s in the race. Congrats to DD on a dominant win & to Erling in 3rd.

Tough race as is often the case at the Nord, but mine wasn't quite as lonely as Geoff's. After seeing DD's fantasy time, I seriously considered disconnecting and watching TV instead Held off Dan at the start, but he still squeezed ahead into T1, and passed Daz too. Little later, Daz went picknicking up an embankment, and I tiptoed past, trying to avoid entanglement as he rejoined. Chased after Dan, but later had a brief embankment moment myself on cold tyres. That gave Dan some more gap, and brought me closer to the clutches of Daz. Reeled in the former and had caught up when we reached the straight. Slipstream helped me past - only just, before the left kink. Noticed in my mirror that an orange menace had materialized behind Dan. Hoped the two could keep each other occupied while I tried to get away, but seems Dan went off on L2 and Hristo was through. When we reached the Carrousel, he was right behind, but apparently stumbled, as he suddenly vanished. Pit board later showed a 9-sec gap. My next lap was a couple of secs slower, and late in the lap he appeared in the mirror again. Caught up the following lap, resulting in a hard battle. He was much quicker in the non flat out curves, whereas the Datsun had a slight advantage under power. After a lot of pressure, I almost pulled over to let him past, but then thought: "Hell no, legend or not, I'm not giving away anything for free". It was after all the podium we were fighting over. The long straight gave me a little breather and then he appeared to spin exiting the T2 hairpin on the final lap, which gave me a lonely run to the finish. Grats to DD on the win with incomprehensible pace, and to Geoffers on 2nd.

Grats to DD on the win with incomprehensible pace
Watching some of DD's videos, I think you will find he has driven the Datsun a few times before, so probably has a well tried setup for it. But, yes, very impressive pace.

Well, not the first time I've driven the Datsun either - and I'm quite certain I've driven the Nordschleife a lot more than DD, who's relatively new to it if I'm not mistaken. So very very alien indeed.

As Geoff said i have a big experience with the Datsun, well with the 240Z, not the 240ZG we drove but i couldn't find a difference between them. The only one actually was the fuel tank - in Altbierbude my Datsun has just 74 liters of fuel at it's max, and here the tank is bigger. And i have 2 podiums with that car in their biggest championship ETCC where i am driving against around 75 different drivers. So i really know how to drive that car. I thought about taking a setup from my Altbierbude car, as we had a 3 hour NoS here but i know so well the car now so i decided that i am lazy and will setup the car. To be fair the default setup is OK for that car. I think i made 1 hot lap with it, thinking that i am with my setup, and the time was 8:35. But when i loaded the setup i was able to go even faster. And let's be honest - the Dasun was the fastest car here, no Geoff's pace with the slowest car - Opel, was as impressive as my tempo. My second lap on the qualy was really good though. That 8:27 was close to the perfect lap, but still with few little mistakes. I knew if i keep the lead at the start i will have my chance of winning. And that happened. Geoff started just faster but my car had more power and i was able to go into turn 1 comfortably. After that i drove very calm and consistent. I knew there's no need to rush the car as i wanted to save some tires for the later stages. And little by little i was able to increase the gap to Geoffers, especially at the straights. At the end i had great amount of tire left and i made the fastest lap of the race on lap 5. Grats to Geoff and Erling. Race replay with camera and commentary: https://youtu.be/a8wWt6GzhgY

Googling tells me that the only difference between the Z and the ZG is the length of the nose. There also some other cosmetic bits and bobs but essentially it's the same car.

No fun for me on Wednesday to be honest.
Had tried the 240, but decided to save it for later in the season. Thought the Opel would be the slowest car, so really wanted to take the 914. But, I had done no practise in it and it proved to be resistant to my efforts to do more than 2 corners in succession without either spinning or flying off the road. Given that quali was now nearly on me I took a very late decision to go with the Opel, just in the hope of getting around the track with few in the way of incidents....
Surprised to be as high on the grid as I was, but had no confidence of holding off the more powerful 240s of Dan and Erling on the straights. And so it proved, first Dan powered past, then Erling when I ran wide after Flugpaltz. Lapped reasonably after that, but the only reason I was going up the board was others falling off, mainly Hristo. He went up and down like a yo-yo, and on the last lap was all over me as I was straining to catch up with Dan, and a small contact or two between us was followed by me exiting stage left, but then he exited stage right two corners later..... He voided, but I did not, so got to keep the place. The 914 was dreadful here, so well done for him getting the speed across any of the laps, but unsurprised to see how many spins he had....
I hope the Porsche proves to be easier to get setup for one of the other tracks, it would be a shame for the series otherwise.
