Championship standings HERE

Car/Track download available by pm to WT

Track: Montlhery (3405km)

Car restrictions: Check your car allowance here

Race restrictions: Any driver who cannot achieve a minimum lap time of 1:37.0 in qualification setup should not enter these events.

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (32 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: NO

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Race restrictions apply.

Aftter a test last night on the server I have to say that I don't like at all this short version with 3 chicane with little visibility and great chance of cutting them. I prefer GPL long version that make it more driveable. Here with a dedicated setup you can really drive those nasty chicane without trouble and I haven't time to do it.
Sorry for the rant, usually I easily adapt to every car and track, but here my eyes start to tears after few laps to try to see where are the chicanes.  eek wheelchair

Tony, I got dropped from the results at one point, but didn't get disconnected, so I kept racing on my own until the end. It was even showing me the others in the standings, though I kept getting a lap behind every lap. I wasn't seeing anyone anymore though. Any chance to insert me in the results? I served 2 10 secs stop/go penalties for cutting, so it's not like I'll affect the top 3. I have the replay if necessary.

For some reason I have bad luck in these series, despite going strong. Was very pleased with my pace in the Opel and we had a great battle with Daz and Geoffers for the lead, until everyone disappeared. Oddly enough it kept showing me in 5th place, instead of last. Had a little consolation in doing a 1:24.1 twice while running on my own, but very disappointing overall...

Grats to Daz, Geoffers and Dimitar!

Thx for setup, it was more forgiving than default. By the way, how did you know that I had driven Porsche?   Cheesy

First, kudos to all those that drove the Porsche. It was my original intended car for this race, but after spending around 30 mins driving it the other day, I gave up as I could not keep it on the track. Every time I touched a kerb it went everywhere except where I wanted it to go, so hats off to those that did master it. I Am Not Worthy

The Datsun on the other hand not only handled the kerbs without flinching, it felt faster too, so I went with that instead. Had a good battle with Hristo & Daz in the early laps but got a couple of cut track warnings so had to take it a bit easier through the chicanes from then on. After Hristo discoed I was around 2s behind Daz & the gap gradually increased as the race went on & was up to 10s at one point. Only in the last few laps did it come down when Daz eased the pace & the final gap was not a true reflection of the race as a whole.

Congrats to Daz on the win & to DD in 3rd.  clap clap

A little bird told me that. Cheesy

It's strange that Geoff had so much problems with Porsche i found it the most stable and fun to drive car but it was slow. So Hristo propose to take his Opel and after seeing how fast he is i made the change.

Unfortunately i was very slow but thanks to Hristo's setup i was able to be faster and faster.

The only problem here was that he became much faster during the qualy. So i was 1 step behind,

At the end of the qually i made the perfect lap even though i was testing with 50 liters for the race. I made 24.8 and i was stun nut i had high hopes for the race.

I dodn't know what happened there but my lap times in race were around 26.5 and i was consistent so i don't think the car had more potential, maybe i was scared on the chicanes to make a cut and this is the reason for the slower tempo.

Daz, Geoff and Hristo quickly disappeared and knew my only chance here is if someone of them make 3 cuts. Meanwhile on lap 20 i made my second cut so i had to be more careful till the end. There was no one around me so i could afford driving slower on the chicanes.

Grats to Daz and Geoff and sorry about what happened to Hristo. I hope Tony will import his result.

Edit: Apologies to Matt for squeezing him at the start. I saw him later. Sad

I tried the Porsche initially, same as at Nords, but found it was spinning every time I came down the banking into the chicanes, whether I was on the brakes or not. And nothing I did on the setup seemed to change that for the better. So, based on not being able to string together a couple of laps without a spin, I went for the Datsun. That was immediately easy to get on with, although it felt bigger on track, not what you want really in these tightish chicanes but it was able to run the kerbs without getting too upset.....

Best I'd done in practise was a 1.26.8, so logging on to see times in the low 25s was a bit of a shock....Tracks like these are always a measure of what time can be found by being taking big risks and being 'artful' on the chicanes, not what I prefer to do by any stretch of the imagination. Eventually realised that the gearing was too long in quali, dropped it a ratio or two on the final drive, and that is what ended up propelling me to the 1.24.0 in quali. But there was no way I would be doing that in the race.....

Got a good jump, and the order was myself, Hristo and Geoffers. There was not much between us in truth, although I think in the early part of the race particularly, if Hristo had managed to sneak past me, he may well have been too quick at the start as my car was very heavy with the full fuel load on. In truth, I had put too much in, and ended up finishing with 15 laps of fuel left in the tank, so more my fault than the car. But, it was very difficult for him to find room to go through, the Datsun is taking up a lot of this narrow track at times, and I held him off. Then he disappeared, leaving Geoff chasing me. I took the chance to go faster for a few laps to give more of a gap, and had got it up to around 10 seconds before a second cut forced me to slow down a little.

I still had around 7 seconds or so going onto the final lap, but then got totally drawn into the line Tony was taking to let me through, and nearly span it Grin. Got going just in front of Geoff, and held the lead for the lap that remained for an unexpected win.

Tough event I felt, grats to all that made the end.

Didn't want to use the Datsun again already, so it was either the Porsche or Opel.  Found the Opel to handle those aggressive kerbs a lot better than the Porsche, and I was considerably quicker in it too, so was my preferred choice.

Tried Hristo's setup, but with only 4 minutes before qual, it was just too much of a gamble; not enought time to adapt to it, so stuck with my own, although his was almost certainly better.  Got a decent start, getting past Manfred, but gobsmacked by the way Matt flew past us both. Looking at the replay, he starts moving before everyone else.  If he got away with that without a false start S/G, then his timing must have been absolutely perfect - even Dan would have dropped his jaw!

Matt got a little out of shape exiting the T1 hairpin however, allowing me to nip past.  Couple of close laps followed, until I lost the rear in the middle chicane; just not enough opposite lock to prevent the half-spin, and I ended up with my nose up the steep banking.  Wasted precious time trying to go forward, but the car wouldn't climb any higher, so had to reverse down to get going again, now in 8th place.  Regained places when first Clive, then Matt headed for the pits, presumably to serve S/Gs, and then had Manfred in front.  Chased him for most of the remainder of the race, the gap remaining around 7-8 secs almost the entire time.

Only towards the very end, did the gap start to drop, but just as it was around 2 secs and I could start contemplating an attack, most inconveniently Daz shows up in the mirror, expecting to be let past.  Nothing to do but slow and presumably throw away any chance of challenging Manfred, so just pure luck for me when he then overshot at T1 on the final lap, allowing me to steal 4th anyway. Had to let Geoffers past too, but with Manfred far back now, it was no problem.

Grats to Daz & podium, and commiserations to Manfred, Hristo and others with misfortune.
