On the approach to T1 on the first lap; Jari is following the train of vehicles into T1 at a distance of 5 or 6 car lengths.
Jos is at the tail end of the group in front and has braked to take T1 slightly wide as he is directly outside of Gavin Halls' Sierra.
Jari hits Jos on the inside of his rear bumper and half spins him at the Apex of the corner.

Jari had not achieved overlap at the turn in point.

Despite being a first corner incident I am only issuing a 1 position penalty as Jari DID wait to allow Jos to continue.

Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 160s

Kimi is at the rear of a group of 5 cars exiting the Chicane and approaching T2 - at the front Mark P and Jari are side by side and have to lift in order to take the turn cleanly.
This causes a concertina effect through the following cars with Mark (J), Jos and Kimi all making light nose to bumper contact despite attempting to avoid one another.

From Lorenzo's driving position it is not possible to clearly see that Mark and Jari are alongside approaching the corner, so he is likely not expecting the group to slow as much as they did.
However, Kimi's brake lights were visible for over a second before impact and Lorenzo didn't lift until just before contact, although he did swerve in an attempt to avoid it.

I feel that contact would be all-but unavoidable in this situation even if Lorenzo had slowed earlier, however the incident was made worse due to Lorenzo not lifting until too late.

The standard 2 position penalty has been reduced to 1 position to reflect the conditions, however Lorenzo still bares some avoidable fault here so a penalty is warranted.
As tires (and drivers) are still cold on the opening lap drivers should be cautious when following other vehicles closely, as they may not behave as expected.

Having discovered the bales are soft last night I'll be keeping an eye on the chicane - I think you'll scrub a lap by cutting so there should be no advantage in qually.
I'm finding it faster to go the longer way around the curbs anyway, as less air time = more acceleration Wink Although the replay looks cooler when hopping over the 3 kurbs.

As the chicane counts as the edge of track so I will expect at least one wheel on the 'track' side of the kurb (or beyond the white line - I can't remember if there's a white line off the top of my head).

I'll ignore mistakes or forced avoidance etc, but intentional cutting will be frowned upon and moderated accordingly euro

Wow, that was fast, like a certain driver, don't know if you know him, an italian mafioso of the tracks, "Matteo" as he's called..  Wink Grin
Thank you, I had to check if I was guilty in any way for the Bob's crash, thankfully not.  angel

By the way, does anyone know why AC doesn't allow for record of the 1st race in those doubled events ?  Huh
Or is it only at my end ? In my autosaved replays, I never can find the 1st race.  Sad (Not using CM but stock AC launcher)

I'm using CM and I too only get the second race saved, even though in the settings I set the limit for races to 10.

If I'm not wrong there's a MB limit that AC will apply to the replay in settings menu. If you set it too low, he will record only the most recent part until you disconnect from the server. So you will usually have recorded only second race in this way. Check for it inside settings. There must be an option to tell AC that you want no limit to the MB of the replay

Two mixed races for me. Got taken out at T1 in race 1 and 2  Sad I wont be too harsh on anyone as it was a bastich of a corner almost inviting contact. It was more painful in race 1 as it left me so far behind the pack of cars that i had no chance of enjoying some battles and spent most of the race on my tod. I finally got past a couple of cars and pulled a healthy gap for many laps but then on lap 18 of 22 i downshifted to 1st instead of 3rd in the parabolica  Shocked instant 180 degree spin and lost my two gained places back  taz  Rubbish, but the early laps before the contact were great fun.

Second race was again brilliant in the early laps, proper touring car racing, but when i turned in to T1 tight to the apex after overtaking a car under braking that was on my outside, a Sierra inexplicably decided to try and close off the apex from i assume a too-deep braking point or earlier contact?, as it speared across my nose from the right, leaving me nowhere to go.  Huh Of course i then got hit by about two other cars....grrr. That was really annoying as i'd had good pace upto then. Once again i was left chasing ghosts, other than getting past the odd car, but at least enjoyed a fantastic chase to the end with the Hooters Merc. Finished a poor reward 11th though.  Cry

The cars looked and felt pretty epic here, no wonder they used it many times for DTM. Going flat out through the 2nd sector was pretty intense in combat with other cars  Cool Such a shame this isnt broadcast as bet the fast moving train looked superb. Not even got Jos' onboards this time i guess as he retired early?

Im thoroughly enjoying this season but cant seem to catch a lucky break results wise.

Nice Syd, good to see some of the action.  Smiley

I was hoping to see what happened at T1 in race2 after several laps. After writing my earlier post i saw Jos had pm'd me thinking it was my fault, whilst i think it was the white sierra's fault (which may be Jos' car?) will watch Matteos replay file later. If unclear, then Tim can put his judges hat on. angel

Avus without crashes just wouldn't have been Avus!..

When I entered the server I noticed my VR headset was black... rebooted and still down. Hard reset solved the issue, but I had missed qually.  AMD software and Oculus are not the easiest of combo's.
So for heat 1 there was a lot of action going on in front of me. Could stay out of trouble and started gaining places. I kept it nice and smooth so I had still tire left in the final stages and managed a 5th or 6th place after long battles with Syd and Kai I believe.
For heat 2 my starting position was better and exited T1 in P5. Had some good hard battles with Syd, Lokanis, Kai and Maxime I think. One misjudged overtake manouvre into T1 saw a possible P3 disappear from me, but happy overall with all the action all around. Racing seemed fair across the field.

Boring cars? on a boring track=great racing action!

Results are now up (sorry for the delay - busy day in the virtual office).
Don't worry about reporting any incidents from Lap 1 of either race - I'll shortly be adding them myself, I believe there are 1 from each race but will be double checking them both.

For any other incidents please raise them through the links under the relevant race - Ideally please get them in by Saturday evening so I have a chance to try and go through them before our next event Smiley

My race 1 was a disaster. I made two bad mistakes (alone) that are truly embarrassing. Race 2 went a little better, but not too much. The only good things were the duels with Maxime and Syd.

I am not very focused lately and I am making several mistakes. So despite having a good pace, I am getting mediocre results.
I absolutely have to increase my performances if I want to renew the contract with the official team Alfa.  angel

What can I say for my own races last night? Finally I beat the Alfiosi in a round Grin

I made the age old mistake of changing my qualifying setup - the result is clear in the results, I went faster on mediums halfway into the race than I managed on the Softs from Qualifying Roll Eyes

Starting 4th had me worried as that put me in reach of more of the Alfas for the start - luckily I was to the inside so didn't only hold position, but gained a spot thanks to Mindaugas scuttling his own race in T1.
I'd actually forgotten how much of a fight I then had with Kai - I think this is because of the epic battle we later had in Race 2 - but after he made a mistake in the final turn I was clear and free to go after Matteo.
At first we were running very similar pace, but I knew from his comments in previous rounds that his tires would go off before mine. Add to that my happiness when running with 'less' grip and I knew I should catch up to him before the end of the race.
Shortly after half way this prediction came true and I started to slowly gain on him. After another 5 laps the speed difference was enough that I was on his tail.

Now the hard part - passing someone with 4WD on a course with a 40KPH hairpin...
Luckily Matteo didn't cover me on my first dive down the inside as we passed the S/F line, I also managed to nail my braking and run him into the leaves on the outside of the corner - that was just enough to get in front for the crazy fast 2nd sector.
I covered him into the right hander as I thought he looked pacey enough to consider going inside, this forced me to tap my brakes and slow in order to make the corner - Matteo didn't expect that and absolutely hammered my rear end (ohh err). I must admit I had been concentrating so hard on making the corner that I didn't realise just how hard he hit me until watching the replay. Sorry about that Embarrassed
Once clear I managed to make my slightly better handling and greater agility pull me clear of any counter-attacks and could concentrate on clean laps to the end.

Well done to Matteo and Mindaugas on the Podium - bad luck to Kai, I'm guessing that you suffered from a sudden change in handling when your tires reached the yellow stage? For some reason that didn't get me here but I had major issues with it at Nogaro when practicing.

Race 2 looked to be going well, I'd held onto 2nd at the start (I was never going to out drag an Alfa ban ) and had big pace and grip advantages in the final sector.
The trouble was that Matteo knew full well that covering T1 was key to holding position. In the Alfa you can compromise T1 as much as you need to because the extra grip will always get you out of the corner faster than your attacker.
As a result I moved my attacks to T3 as my crazy Asymetrical setup allowed for a much tighter and faster line, the problem was that the racing line forced me to brake behind the car I wished to pass in order to then get inside them in the first 3rd of the corner.
Doing that meant initiating a 4 wheel drift in order to carry the speed and make the turn - this made my tires hate me and resulted in my having to maintain that drift for the remaining 3/4s of the turn to match Matteo's wider line Grin
I managed to stay clean and not collect Matteo, but never quite managed to still be to his inside as we entered the S/F straight - had I managed that there would be a very real chance of my taking the win again.

Favourite moments for me in race 2 have to be the point where Kai decided to fight absolutely tooth and nail for 2nd and went through the chicane next to me - we both gave each other room but also stayed within the track limits as much as possible - great driving Cool
2nd was went I went full Initial D in my biggest attack on Matteo through T3, it was my most successful attack and felt wonderful as I simply stood on the throttle and drifted my nose up inside his car - his lines had shifted by this point as I think he had worked out my tactic, so I could almost hear his voice saying 'oh no you can't' just before I did Grin

Anyway, some absolutely great racing last night - most of what went on elsewhere seems pretty clean and fair too from what I saw while randomly hopping around the field in the replay.

Matteo has kindly suggested to use a software to modify the FFB settings and to generate a LUT file, i'll try to go in that way and watch what happen.

Now it is completely undrivable, no way to control the car properly.

Forgot to ask last night - Has this sorted you out?
My biggest worry as I'm having to get a new wheel is that the FFB will be ruined, as basic as a G25 is these days it still feels wonderful quite frankly in AC....
