On the approach to T1 on the first lap; Jari is following the train of vehicles into T1 at a distance of 5 or 6 car lengths.
Jos is at the tail end of the group in front and has braked to take T1 slightly wide as he is directly outside of Gavin Halls' Sierra.
Jari hits Jos on the inside of his rear bumper and half spins him at the Apex of the corner.

Jari had not achieved overlap at the turn in point.

Despite being a first corner incident I am only issuing a 1 position penalty as Jari DID wait to allow Jos to continue.

Moderator's Report

Kimi is at the rear of a group of 5 cars exiting the Chicane and approaching T2 - at the front Mark P and Jari are side by side and have to lift in order to take the turn cleanly.
This causes a concertina effect through the following cars with Mark (J), Jos and Kimi all making light nose to bumper contact despite attempting to avoid one another.

From Lorenzo's driving position it is not possible to clearly see that Mark and Jari are alongside approaching the corner, so he is likely not expecting the group to slow as much as they did.
However, Kimi's brake lights were visible for over a second before impact and Lorenzo didn't lift until just before contact, although he did swerve in an attempt to avoid it.

I feel that contact would be all-but unavoidable in this situation even if Lorenzo had slowed earlier, however the incident was made worse due to Lorenzo not lifting until too late.

The standard 2 position penalty has been reduced to 1 position to reflect the conditions, however Lorenzo still bares some avoidable fault here so a penalty is warranted.
As tires (and drivers) are still cold on the opening lap drivers should be cautious when following other vehicles closely, as they may not behave as expected.

Matteo has kindly suggested to use a software to modify the FFB settings and to generate a LUT file, i'll try to go in that way and watch what happen.

Now it is completely undrivable, no way to control the car properly.

Forgot to ask last night - Has this sorted you out?
My biggest worry as I'm having to get a new wheel is that the FFB will be ruined, as basic as a G25 is these days it still feels wonderful quite frankly in AC....

Not at all! I tried to use the software Matteo suggested, and some LUT files found on Racedepartment, but almost nothing has changed.

I decided to send back the g920 and to drive again with my g25, such good feeilngs with it! Your concerns are legitimate Tim Wink

Talking about the races, the positive thing is that i didn't blew up any gearbox, starting to be confident with Hell-Toe and H shifter. The next goal will be the performance.

Regards

Lorenzo

That's a shame Sad

I'll be ordering a Thrustmaster TS-XW base plus wheel at the weekend, plus the load cell pedals when they are back in stock (I'm going SSH shifter) so will let you know my impressions when it arrives - Fabri tells me that the AC devs he knows rate TM stuff above Fanatec so we'll have to see....

As I said to Lorenzo about the G29, he is not the only one lamenting this issue. I don't know if the G29 and G920 have some difference in this aspect, but I managed to solve the issue of a poor FF strenght, especially in the center part of the wheel with that "LUT" procedure (G29 is the one with Playstation logo - G920 is that with XBox logo).
Apart the fact that I guess they should have the same functions, even one of my VDA mate decided to send back the wheel after a couple of hours (before checking this "LUT" procedure). I remember that was painful to go through the procedure described in the message I sent to Lorenzo and I'm wondering if that went wrong in some way. To be honest, the "default setup" of the G29 if compared to my old G25 was a step back in simdriving experience, but with the LUT I was satisfied to make that engines working properly and I decided to stay on it.
If someone of you is unsatisfied about his "default" G29 and interested in this procedure to modify FFB wheel strenght I'll send you the links to RD.
However, as I said to Lorenzo, at least in Italy, if you want to step up your simdriving experience there's a sensible difference in terms of price between a G29 and a T300 for example, and with the last one you earn a 90's Thrustmaster pedal board Huh (tell me the term you use in England if I'm wrong Tongue) without clutch  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Talking about the beautiful aspects of simracing I have to say that even if I was a chicken during race 1, these 2 races were absolutely pure fun.

Despite a poor 4th place in qualif (for a damned millisecond by Mr.Muttram Cheesy) I exploited my 4WD Power to take the lead at turn 1, with a momentt of scrapping paints with Kai?!? as in a real TC race at the exit of the first bend Grin
By that moment I just did my best pace ever, but was not enough to keep a devilish Tim behind my back for more than 12 or 13 laps. I stay on my previous opinion about myself, as I stupidly give the chance to him to take the inside after I tried some duels with my Confessor "Father Jos" a couple of days ago  Grin (It's always Jos' fault  Grin Grin). Unlike the braking in the previous laps Tim managed to stay tight on the inside at the bend and simply cheated me  Cheesy 400 meters later I was drafting on his tail, without any intention to try an attack at the fast right after the chicane. Probably Tim was in a too defensive line, but I didn't expect he'd slow that much and I banged his rear in a proper Nici Larini Avus style (I saw by YT video he retired in that race  Grin). I guess that Tim's butt still hurts Grin Grin
Even that wasn't enough to scratch the Olympic calm of Tim Roll Eyes. I tried to follow him until the end, but I knew that unless a mistake by him my chances of an overtake were 0. That mistake never happened. You really deserved it mate. Well done Smiley

About race 2 I can say that my biceps and quadriceps still hurts! I had 12 painful laps with Tim and a long snake of car behind. That was simply awsome. As I had to defend myself on the inside my pace was obviously a bit compromised by my brutal brakings and defensive lines. Every lap I had no chance to miss a braking point, and I can say that I nailed 12 brakings in row turning super tightly at the bend and exploiting the superior traction of my 4WD at the exit. As I usually suffer a bit during the last laps I found a fantastic ally in Kai (thanks mate Cheesy), that helped me to relax a bit after 12 laps of pure terror  Roll Eyes

That was surely the funniest race of my champ and it's always a pleasure to race "against" Tim.

Fabri don't worry... Nannini was like this, we loved him for that Smiley It was even better for you! His car in AVUS caught fire!

I'm a bit worried about Jos cause I didn't see any video yet... What I have to do? I say a little prayer for you?  Grin

Thanks for the nice song and for bringing back the matured Matteo to the race yesterday. I enjoyed your fights with Tim onboard as my races were a total disaster. Punted in T1 by Jari (I think) I was on the back foot trying to catch up and made the mother of all mistakes in L3/T1. Trying to find an escape route, I couldn't avoid gavinhall and destroyed his race (feeling pretty shitty about that). Did a stop-and-go as a penalisation but, with this short track, I was already a lap down so I retired to avoid making another mess with a front-running car. Retired and hoped to do a massive comeback on R2...

R2 started promising. I was catching up well and from P15 at the start, I was closing with the middle pack when Mark J didn't see me at T1 and there I went spinning again... I ended up retiring after a series of events with Kimi and feeling totally burned out with the races. Not my day and nothing worth showing on a video I'm afraid...

Congrats to the podiums and looking forward to Brands Hatch...

Yes, we have been discussing this 'off air' as both felt aggrieved by the other at the time! But a gentlemanly chat and seeing it from each others perspectives helped massively.  angel  I apologised for my part, but it really was a set of unfortunate angles and being blind-sided by Jaris car that caused a coming together in that nasty corner.  euro

Onwards to my home track at Brands Hatch, i hope i can finally get a decent result in this series  Undecided

I've added the 2 incidents from the 1st laps - the drivers involved should now have a PM informing them of the reports.
As none of the drivers are eligible for ballast I will give until Wednesday for any responses to be submitted or further incident reports to be made.

I just wonder whats a point to wait if you punt off someone and drop back of field, just continue like nothing happend and get dropped one place (or two ) instead?

The points system is intended to encourage better standards of driving while still retaining and educating competitors.

You should bare in mind that because moderators can use their discretion - this will both ways. If a driver proves to be unsporting and does continually bump and run or drive in unsportsmanlike manners while ignoring penalties, then we can also increase penalties - upto and including race/series bans.

Additionally we have the endorsement system which is intended for the serious instances of drivers who don't learn from/care about their mistakes and keep having incidents. The points in this are automatically generated outside of the moderators control and work like driving licence points in the real world - clock up too many and you'll get a suspension/race ban/series ban depending on how many have been clocked up.

If I find the section in the rules explaining this I'll share it.

I'm familiar with rules, so you don't have to look it. I just wanted to say that penalties are not penalties if they don't really affect to points at all...
