Daz I know you were only stating a preference - I wasn't telling you off, honest I was just trying to explain what endurance events are about, and prep is one of the main things to get right. If you are in an academy race then there will be lots of other less experienced drivers to measure yourself against, so the racing should still be good. The issue of lack of time is one we all face to some degree. With 2 children to entertain and a business to run, not to mention helping with the league admin, I will also have little time to devote to wet setups (unlike Simon G who will no doubt have found a shortcut somewhere round the back of Valencia ). If I get in as a reserve though I'll still give it go in the wet. I know its a steep learning curve, but we all have to go through it (in fact some of us oldies did it years ago in GPL where the cars are rather more of a handful!). Your last comment maybe worth looking at however - I'll mention it to the other mods in case they missed it. GL on Sunday Paul

Priebiero, ur post always has me laughing so hard!!!
@ Dyno...the weather variable for academy has been set to DRY from the word go (if u read the race announcement closely) Im assuming it will stay like this for all academy races

Maybe the solution would be to use real life weather for the masters and set the weather for the academy league...
I did think about that but in the end decided against it. The Endurance Academy has to both cater for those of us who are too old and slow to enjoy life in the Masters, but who want the same variety of challenge, and for those who are new to endurance racing in this setting and need to learn the skills that one day they will take into the Masters, and that includes driving in difficult conditions. Hopefully the Academy will be a good environment to pick up these skills from those of us with more experience than talent.

The Sprints are always dry but Endurance events are by tradition a mixed bag (although wet races are actually quite rare - it doesn't rain anywhere near as often in any given place as people think it does).

Thanks Paul. Good luck to you too. Dave, is there any chance I can join you old, slow guys in the academy league? I am currently placed in the masters league with the aliens. If it's too difficult to change at this late stage I'll understand. Don't worry I used to looking in my mirrors

Don't worry Daz, there's a few non-aliens in the Masters

Thanks Pob, but I've seen you race.. Ok lap me. Out of curiosity, what is a good NGT time around here in 100% rain?

It's be 50% rain unless it's changeable (in which case it will be... changeable...). I'll published the 'rules' we've agree amongst the moderators for setting the weather later today to help folks predict the likely conditions.

(unlike Simon G who will no doubt have found a shortcut somewhere round the back of Valencia ). Those days are long gone, I'm pretty much turn up and race nowadays. Have a good event guys I will unfortunately miss this one and the GT Sprint cause I'm on holiday. Go Sharks!

Not wanting to be picky about this, as I look forward to what the rain will bring (until it comes probably ) But if we have a description of this in the weather rules :- "Dry or light showers will be set as dry; light rain or showers will be set as changeable; and any other precipitation will be set as 50% wet" The five day weather forecast on the above site gives a chance of rain on the five day forecast in percentages. Not from what I can see a " Dry or light showers" description. Could we not have a weather rule which matches these percentages? Something like 0-20 = 0 in game, 21-40 = 10% and so on. Tell me to shut up if I am too awake for a sunday morning. But this might give people more of a chance to run the likely conditions, as everyone can watch the percentage chance through the build up and practice accordingly.

We're not setting it from the forecast (on the right on WU), but from the actual conditions, on the left on WU, currently "Mostly Cloudy".
