Freeze during qually, and only 25-30 fps during 66' race !
Not easy to drive and to see details on the track...

Alain, I think I hit you on the Hunaudières. I was flat out and I just didn't see you stuck in the middle of the track. No time to react at top speed.

The 66 race was just bad in itself, but I destroyed the start for many drivers in the 71 race. In the slipstream of the well-deserved pole-sitter Mark, I was unable to properly steer my car to the right, had a little wobble and hit him, we both went off and all I know after that is that I heard several drivers crash. Then 2 laps later, I hit Fulvio on the start-finish straight when I moved to the left and hit the grass which spun me right into him. After 2 more mistakes out on track alone, I was so frustrated that I eventually retired, just like I did in the first race due to frustration. Not a good day today, I'm pretty pissed off, but promise to come back with stronger mentality and more awareness. I don't know what was wrong with me today and I'm so sorry to everyone.

Yeah great fun these cars,
but I switched PC's so the setups did not feel as intended...

Colin the 712 has a wing 2nd side of setup in game

Don't worry Lasse, that is why we are having some fun races in these cars. We need to get used to them, they are very different to the other GPL cars. They are not nimble like the F1 cars, you have to drive them a bit slower. I always feel like I'm crawling into the corners only to find I'm going too fast and I run wide.

I also had a first tonight. I think that was the fastest I've ever been in a GPL car. On the last lap I got a perfect tow from Fulvio and my speedo was showing 228mph (367 km/h) when I pulled out to overtake. But I wasn't gentle enough on the steering wheel and I got into a tank-slapper which caused a massive crash, sorry Fulvio. I've never experienced that before. Not sure if I can dial that out of my set-up but I suspect it was quite realistic and just a consequence of my bad driving.

Not sure if we will get another chance to race these cars again for a while now that Season 38 is about to start. However, if you want a few more fun races when it is convenient, I'm sure Axel will be happy to oblige.

Funny my both cars were same fast on straight!

The big block Mecom Lola did 357 kmh with up to 369 kmh in tow - same as the Shadow MK II

And I crashed when I tried to take the kink with 370 kmh in Shadow, luckily Enrique survived Grin

Well it's good fun winding these beasts up on a properly fast race track. Unfortunately I got tagged on both opening laps which handicapped any result. I think the 66's race a little better in the slipstream compared to the twitchy 71's. Good experience if not a good result.

It's good to get some racing time in these monsters, and live to tell the tale!  No Championship points left lying on the track, amidst all the debris, so fun factor high. Cool

When young, my family lived 10km from Goodwood.  Sometimes, I could hear the very low grumble of Can-Am Mclaren's in testing.  It's now possible to see how brave and skillful they were, as are we learning to be, with maximum speed and minimum track.  Shocked

A late freeze ended my practice and race 2, but perhaps 2 quiet starts did not tame our monsters.  Longest straight, coldest tyres, tightest corner.

Cheers Cookie - I found where you change the flap settings in the game - I think it was on the screen above the Diff settings. I had to install Can66 for the race and I can't remember doing much with the 71s, so this whole event was a learning experience for me. In the 71 race I was confused how you gained about 800 yards on me on the Mulsanne and went past me like I was broken down - really upsetting in a race when you don't know why you are sooooo slow  Grin Grin Having said that, it did explain why I nearly hit people arriving at corners because I had sooooo much grip I was getting dizzy going round corners so quickly, really gave an impression of how scary that would be in real life. I also had to trust the fuel gauge and that didn't work out well - I ran out of fuel about half a mile from the line and was grateful to roll home.

In the 71 race I didn't change any default settings other than the steering ratio and fuel... then joined using the wrong driver profile (Arf65 instead CanArf) and couldn't work out what had happened to my changes - I think the same happened in the 66 race...or I chose a different car from what I had practiced in, but the 66 race was a disaster for me cos I was thumped off the track approaching Mulsanne Corner - need to look at what happened.

All in all this was fun, I like the Can Ams, so will be happy to do more with them. It was really good to run the 71s with wings after the wingless 66s, really showed me some differences that might make me better in the 69s... let's see tomorrow night!

Cheers and Happy New Year all

Arf

. . . . the 66 race was a disaster for me cos I was thumped off the track approaching Mulsanne Corner - need to look at what happened.
I must own up to being the thumper.  These cars do not like direction changes under hard braking, so a lane change entering the braking zone is hazardous.  I had warmed my tyres, but should have applied more straight line caution.  Braking distances vary. Undecided

funny races, guys, I like the can am mode, to much. :-)
in mod 66, I enter to the server whit the lola MK II 333, but axel tell me i'm in the wrong car, for handicap, but in the forum say than I can't used the lola 359 and the mac laren m1 B 361, but I exit of the server, and change my car for chaparral, because, don't have time for other car, and the chaparral I have set up.  Cool. anyway, start in last place and end the race 66 in 7 place, thats great for me, in that car.
in mod 71- i drive whit the shadown, ( what a faster car buddies ) and start in 3 place, I the long straight, the 1 and 2 shadown crash, the cars, and can save my life whit a miracle, but axel overtake me in that situation,. just still running, and can overtake him in lap 3, but in la 4 he overtake me in a veri riski zone, and I left my trhotle, for give mor space him for the overtake, but, he loose the control of the car, and crash whit 370 kmh, ( it's a miracle he stay here and writing in this forum...... laugh
the rest of the race, are stay on track, and end, and I got it, my first wining in this year, I hope, mor victories, come.
thanks guys, I enjoy to much, " gpl its my medicine "
  cheers, and happy new year.
