Thx Toni, Martin and Geoff,

Still having problems to start (i'm easy on the clutch and indeed half way the revs) but its still hard (second gear start is possible to be safe). Noticing no real changes if i change my mapping towards 1 for the start.

Still need to play with the throttle sensitivity (will also try 0%)

Happy to hear, Red Bull ring is the most difficult track for this series.

Guys, please be aware of this, happened to me twice on the ranked servers this afternoon, hopefully it will be fixed before Thursday.

https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?posts/216560/

Apparently this is now fixed, server may need updating though.

It wanted a server update yesterday, and I did it.

I have set false starts to off in case people roll backwards, or get jumpy. 1st gear start is not an option for me, 2nd is possible
with extreme care, a quick shift up to 3rd is safe.

I have also set it to 23 laps, not 30 mins. Not sure whether that's a new feature or not, but I haven't noticed it before.
You can set "standing start" or "rolling start" but I think the rolling start is AI control, I will test it.
Still thinking of a human rolling start, I will do some testing. We don't want a mess at the start as people snake around
or spin into a barrier on lap 1, and as Spanner says T1 is going to be challenging enough.
You really really really need to take it easy on lap one anyway, until the tyres warm up and also the brakes will not stop you at T2 as well as you expect.
A rolling start with some tyre warming might be a good idea. Maybe for this 1st race, and see how it goes.

Thoughts Huh Huh Huh Huh

The more I practice with these, the more I like them. I am now liking the V10. It needs a lot more coast diff, and harder
front bump, but I can on occasion power slide it (sort of) but they do need some concentration, though  they are very rewarding
with some practice.

The biggest thing for me apart from setups (mine are perhaps a bit extreme and tame) was setting the throttle to 0% sensitivity
If you look at the power curves for V8, V10 and V12, they are as you would expect. The V12 is peaky, less mid range with a steeper
curve to peak. I think that's why I found it less evil, as it's slow corner exit power came in later. The V8 has a flatter curve
so has a bit more mid range. I have been trying to find the sweet spot between high power map and rear wing
ideally less power map to help slow corner exit, and less rear wing to help compensate for top speed.
I haven't found it yet...... The wing seems to do more than I would expect at low speeds, so I find I need it anyway.

I have updated the V10 setup with a map 5 that is more drivable. The V12 was updated a couple of days ago
so, if you haven't got the latest perhaps give them a try. I will do some work on the V8 today, though that one
is probably more finished than the others.

I've done a few rolling starts in races elsewhere and they worked well. You are dropped onto the track 100 metres or so before the start line in 2x2 formation, and yes with AI control at slow speed until the leader crosses the line, and then go.

We did a race here with these soon after they were released and I think there were a few incidents because of the high speeds and (especially) very short braking distances. They did have different tyres and physics then though. I think I only have the V12, but not tried it since then, so I'll see if I can get some practice in later.

Btw, do these have tyre warmers? If so I would suggest the new AI rolling start would be better than a full lap manual rolling start - a full lap at slow speed will likely cool the tyres down too much.

Although even though they do occasionally start behind the safety car in very wet conditions in F1, it still doesn't seem quite right to have anything other than a standing start here..!

Even if we do a rolling start, the tyres remain cold for a while so the problem manifests itself again out of T1 and T2. We might as well do standing start, and everyone takes it easy on lap 1. To me, they are not more difficult to get off the line than the DTM 2003 was once you use the fixed setups and lower the engine map to 2 or 3.

It wanted a server update yesterday, and I did it.

The problem I highlighted happened yesterday afternoon & has been fixed overnight, so it may need updating again. See the second post in the link.

The possibility of setting the race distance to laps rather than time was introduced in the major update just before xmas if I remember correctly.

Quite happy with which ever start method is used, I think care will be needed on lap 1 whatever.

I have just restarted the server, and it didn't want an update, so I guess it has been done.
I will do a few starts at other tracks to see, but I am personally in favour of traditional standing start
I just want to try to avoid the event being wrecked before T1

I could perhaps have a virtual yellow flag, so no overtaking into T1   scared

EDIT: All 3 setups have now been updated

Slight delay on results.

Well I enjoyed it, even if I came last.
Great pace and a good win for Jos. Welcome, and I hope you will race with us some more  thumbup1

Hungary next for these. A tight track, but doesn't have the nasty off camber exits of Spielberg that seem to
catch people out.

VW Scirocco next at Brands GP. Quite a different event  Grin

Thanks, phspok! I was surprised with the early part of the race and the few secs advantage that allowed me to manage my Crew chief mistake on the fuel department. I spent the second half of the race managing my fuel when I found out that I was running tight on it. I'll check this out for the next race.

Tons of thanks for the improved setup. I had downloaded the previous one and was doing high 15s with softs in qualy but decided, last minute, to get the improved setup and went done almost a full sec and P2 for the start of the race. Great setup! Thanks.
The start was a bit wobbly but safe  Grin

Mediums also worked well and lasted the full 23 laps, so thanks again for the tip.

If I manage to recover the replay, I'll probably process the video and will upload it to my channel.

Congrats to the podium and P2 that kept me honest and tense with the fuel management. I guess, had P2 not have a moment at T2, the last few laps would have been far more intense as he was catching fast...

Thanks for setting this up and hope we have more drivers joining the next race.

All the best,
Jos Ogos

Glad my setups were of some use  Smiley
Your pace was well beyond what I could manage with it. I could do with getting some more mechanical front grip without making the rear too loose.
I was getting a load of understeer if i went in too deep.  The faster tracks won't need such extreme rear settings.

We were at least two of our regular people down, one isn't happy with these cars, and one couldn't make it. Also I was hoping our fast Italian friends
might be tempted to race a 1990's Ferrari F1 (style) car. And Dimitar would have been a great addition to the grid. As would Roger and Stephen to name another
pair of our regular racers.  Maybe more will come for future races.  The cars need adding to our system, then I can do the results. Apologies for the delay.

I've had a quick test with the Scirocco at Brands GP. Fantastic combo!

Looking forward to it.

BTW, here is the video of the first 5mins of today's race... With the fuel management, it became quite boring after this...

Last night was my 1000'th race here at SRou! Shame it was such a disaster, these cars are way passed my skill set so I'm starting a crotchet course on Thursdays.

Congrats! On your 1000'th race! That's quite a mark.
LOL with the crochet course... It might be a great relaxation technique before the races though. I can see that introduced in F1 nowadays Grin
