Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 2315s

Eddie Meyer comes round the penultimate corner and hits Chunky who has spun. Eddie spins off to the inside, and attempts to rejoin. Unfortunately he gets too much wheelspin and the car spins again on the grass. Eddie then uses the momentum to get the car back on track. He rejoins at 90 degrees to the track and is hit by Martin as a result, who loses a place.

Although Eddie was having trouble rejoining, doing so at 90 degrees to the track is a big no-no, especially on a blind corner. It is vital to attempt to rejoin at a gentle angle to make sure you stay out of the way of approaching cars, even if this means that you lose more time. I have reduced the penalty by 1 place because of the problems Eddie was having rejoining.

  • Eddie Meyerpenalty — Bad Rejoin — 2 places lost

Just put it down to experience - next time, just keep an eye on whats going on in front - the car(s) in front normally take off on the s/f line at the end of the formation lap.
Check out the replay and have a look at some of the others to get an idea if you are unsure m8.

Excellent 1st race guys really enjoyed it!?
Newbie questions.....
1.  Does GTR2 and/or Motec give you data on tyre wear!?
Or is it just a case of an educated guess on set up or run a full race length in practice!?
I'm using the temperature and pressures etc. have I missed anything!?

2.  Once you feel you have a 95% correct setup set as symetrical, are you guys then doing any minor non symetrical changes!?
ie. For a mainly lefthand circuit, would you be tempted to modify the righthand side of the car for that last little bit of grip!?

Only been at this 2 weeks! Can't believe I never got into this sooner! Just hope my reserve spot gets me in each week!?

Welcome Mason, glad you're enjoying the game.

1.  Does GTR2 and/or Motec give you data on tyre wear!?

Don't think Motec gives tyre wear info. It is available in-game, but annoyingly only when you pit. I've always wanted to be able to check wear at the end of a race, but if you pit after the checkered flag it dumps you back to the lobby.  Undecided Fortunately, it's possible to check the wear using the PDMonitor utility (anyone have a link to this?). The wear values go up to 60, but at 30 it's seriously worn and you'll start losing heaps of time.

2.  Once you feel you have a 95% correct setup set as symetrical , are you guys then doing any minor non symetrical changes!?

Yes, lots of drivers use slightly non-symmetrical setups, especially tyre pressures.

You want the tyre pressures and temperatures to be as symmetrical as possible - in order to achieve this on a non-figure-of-8 track you'll need a little asymmetry in the cold settings (which is what you get in the garage) to try and get the 'inside' tyres (right side for clockwise tracks and left for anti) closer to the outside tyres in terms of pressure and temperatures.

I shy away for major asymmetry though because it makes the car difficult under braking.

Thanks Guys, must change my displayed name... Martin!!

Good feedback, thanks. I have noticed that no matter what I do to the arb settings I can never get the 2 wheel temps per axle as close as I believe they should be.
So has this drive for even temps suckered me into reducing my arb settings too low do you think!?
I'm guessing now that I can run slightly stiffer arb and correct temps on inside wheel with pressures etc.?
I appreciate your comments, thanks.

The cars allowed should be set the same regardless of whether it's a practice server or a race server (caveat GT/NGT allowed, both or just one, depending on what event is coming up). The pack is installed on both A and B servers - but if you're the only one on the server you won't have problems with anything but your own car. If there are others on the server, you may have problems when it comes to load their cars on your machine if the car files don't match up.

I don't think you can do it in the game, but if you go into the GTR2\UserData directory, you can rename the directory, and then the .PLR file inside to match. (Take a copy before you try of course!) That should do the trick.
