For the 1st round we go to the United States. Watkins Glen International (nicknamed "The Glen") is an automobile race track located in Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake.
It was long known around the world as the home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for twenty consecutive years (1961–1980), but the site has been home to road racing of nearly every class, including the World Sportscar Championship, Trans-Am, Can-Am, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the International Motor Sports Association and the IndyCar Series.

The circuit is known as the Mecca of North American road racing and is a very popular venue among fans and drivers. The facility is currently owned by International Speedway Corporation.

Was a bit late for qualifying as I had just gotten home, but 20 minutes were enough to get comfortable and I even took pole! But I knew that Uli wouldn't be easy to shake off...
Towards the end of qualifying I realized that my setups left front tyre pressure was too high by a decent amount... Did I change it? Yes. Did I forget to change it for the race setup that I had provisionally created when I initially joined the server so that I wouldn't forget it later? Yes.

So into the race I went, and the start was good. No complications or anything with Uli, and in the first five laps I was consistently able to pull out a little gap. Then I looked at Pribludas tyre temperature information widget, and... Orange left front? Well, now I had to try and drive as conservative as possible without dropping off pace. Because of that the gap between me and Uli stagnated at 2.5 to 3 seconds... No lapped cars changed anything about that.

As the race went on and the cars became lighter, Uli seemingly got stronger and it felt like it was harder to hold the gap. Then at Big Bend with 26 laps to go, I went a little wide (still on the road) and thought oof, now I've given Uli an invitation to push more. Looked into the mirror... where is he? Pribluda still showed him in second place, so something must have happened on that particular lap. Pribluda then showed me he was at the loop, but no car in sight... What a shame, it had been such a good battle, and you had kept me honest all race long. Sad

Next up was Markus, 35 seconds behind, and soon he was the only car still on the same lap... then with 10 laps to go, the loop claimed another 2 victims, not just me, but also my suspension which decentered my steering wheel, and so I had to quickly learn how to drive this thing. Markus was 0.5 to 1 seconds quicker once I got the hang of it, but my error came too late for him, and so I somehow brought it home...

Thanks to everyone for participating. Congrats to all finishers, especially to the podium places Markus and Fulvio, and commiserations to all those who missed out on a finish, especially Uli who I have just heard had his engine say goodbye...

Going out on the loop ruined my race, which was already pretty lacklustre with two unforced errors. Thanks for organising this championship, and let's think about Montjuich.
One doubt, I can't access the replay!

My race was rather unspectacular. I was clearly slower than Lasse and Uli. Both of you had such an impressive pace! I wouldn't be able to do the same quali times with the Brabham. I at least need the Eagle to get that fast at the glen!
Raoni, policardi and Alain were a bit slower than me. So I had a very lonely race. I went wide once or twice in the loop but was able to keep the car on the track. As my pribluda lost the signal for Lasse during the last ~20laps I did not recognize that he run into trouble. I was surprised to finish only 5s behind Lasse. But even if I knew I would not have been able to go much faster. So for me the race of 77laps was a bit too short in the end Wink I would have needed more time to catch Lasse.

At the start I didn't press the clutch properly and moved a bit before the flag was waved. I stopped immediately and after that I started more carefully and did not attack anyone. It was a stupid mistake that I could not undo. But I think it did not change much about the race since no one had a similar pace as me anyway.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to the next few races. For work reasons I will be in Malta for around two months. I wanted to do the whole Grand Prix championship but that will not happen this season. In April I will probably have to move for a new job (within Germany). So I am not sure if I will make it for the race in Tripoli (mid-April). But I will be back sooner or later!

Thanks for the racing!!!  scooter

until my engine broke down, I had fun anyway. Like last year, another bad start to a new season, again with engine damage, but this time my fault.

Congrats Lasse, Markus, and Fulvio!

Why didn't we do a full GP? They ran 108 laps in 1967. I used to run 2 hour races offline before I started racing online.

I think Clive's strategy was the same as mine, "I can win this race if nobody else finishes." Smiley

Had I practiced, I may have been able to hound Fulvio the entire race. No matter how hard I tried I was never able to gain on him.

Thanks for the fun guys!
