Practice: ~19:20 GMT (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 GMT (10 mins)
Race: 20:30 GMT (20 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: NOT Required

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

OP stated Pitstops are required. They are not.

Sorry for any confusion.

Love the track but me and these big V8 monsters just don't get on. Plan was just to finish and keep out of everyones way.

Clive, didn't feel a touch (not that you would really in these big old things), but in my mirror it looked like I may have sent you off when I put the power on and the rear stepped out a touch.

I've checked my replay, but will need to check the server one to be sure, massive apologies if there was contact there.....

Done!
A debut of mixed feelings for me.
I quite liked the combo, but the race was filled with incidents. Still, the result wasn't too bad in the end.

Cheers

I appear to be going through one of those phases where, if something can go wrong it probably will. Having said that, I was well off the pace of the fast guys here, absolutely no idea how they were doing 2.19s. Shocked

With the tight grid at the start I was aware that getting too good a start may well result in rear-ending the guy in front, so took it easy getting underway. However was not expecting Manfred's car two ahead to be rooted to the spot so still ran into the back of Niko. Did get around the obstacle but the fast guys were already just a speck in the distance by then.

Tagged onto a battle between, Clive, Daz & Kurt for a couple of laps but Clive got a tank-slapper at Quarry & just happened to spear back across the track as I was passing & took me off into the trees. Didn't lose too much time, but the damage resulted in a car that was not as quick on the straights as it should have been.

After a minor off over the Mountain I had a good few laps battling with Matt & Niko, eventually getting to the front of it when the other two tangled slightly. Was working on pulling away only to spin at The Cutting, ended up facing the wrong way holding up Rog, no real way to turn around there so called it a day Roll Eyes.

Congrats to DD, Hristo & Daz.  clap clap clap

That was very strange to me yesterday. I got away from the start well and turned into the first corner as 3rd.
There I was rammed away. On the straight that followed, I was hit by several vehicles as if I was not visible. And that was apparently the case. Niko told me in Teamspeak that I would have stopped at the start. In the replay you can see that I really stopped for the others. But I saw everyone else myself and drove off normally. Sorry for the other
have hindered.

No worries Daz, the facts around whether or not there was contact. major or minor, are of little importance as regards this race. I had been looking forward to wrestling an oversized V8 with barely discernible brakes and very dodgy roadholding, something that I always enjoy....normally.

Forgive me if I sound a little pi**ed off about anything related to computers and hardware . I empathise entirely with Geoffers at the moment, with my PC apparently doing its best to thwart any participation in the online action.

Well, last night my wheel joined the robot uprising and refused to operate as it should. My normal setting is quite a heavy FF, so that I can feel the resistance to applying lock and fighting the traction circle etc.  However at Bathurst I was trying to steer my Falcon ( which is hardly the most stable and nimble of cars anyway ) with what can best be described as a piece of knotted elastic attached to each front wheel and tugged from the driver's seat to try and effect a turn. Keeping the damned thing anywhere near straight on the ironically named "straights" was frankly impossible with the car wandering around like a balloon in a gale!
I think that Daz was lucky that I did not wipe him out long before that corner, as I was fighting hard to even stay on my half of the tarmac. Trying to steer my car around that corner and keep to 50% of the grey stuff was just placing impossible demands on an almost non existent guidance system.

Apologies to Geoffers for involving him in my nightmare.
Frankly I lost the will to live after that incident and decided to quit rather than risk taking out anyone else with my (un)guided missile.

Sorry to hear about so many having problems, and the one affecting Paddler does indeed look very strange in the replay.

Have to commend Tony on the car choice - the Falcon was both a challenge and huge fun to hustle around here; great dexterity required going down through the canyons  Shocked

Qual was a bit of a fiasco for me. Was almost through the opening lap when I discovered it was only a ½-length one. With enough fuel for 10 laps, I was carrying more than twice what was needed, but didn't want  to restart with so little time, so carried on.  Far down the field, but gained 5 places through the start & 1st turn incidents, being in a lofty 3rd place.  With several tentacled ones behind me, it soon changed.  First Dimitar & then Daz got past and soon disappeared - no way I could live with their pace.

Next many laps spent chasing a distant Dan.  Kept increasing the gap behind, so no threats to worry about from that side.  Gradually got closer to Dan, to see him apparently struggling with worn tyres. Mine weren't too good, but his appeared worse. Eventually he ran wide at T1, allowing me to slip past. Initially pulling away, but then he seemed to get a 2nd wind, closing again - or maybe tyre wear was catching up with me. With a few laps left however, he suddenly vanished in the canyons. Pit board showed a gap of 27 secs, so he obviously lost a lot of time - shame Dan, was a fun chase  Smiley

Grats to Dimitar & rest of podium.

Sorry to hear that Manfred, you had great pace on the qualy. And sympathies to everyone else that had problems.

It's great that Niko decided to join us. He is a very fast and fair driver from Germany. Hope he will continue here as well.

I started loving the car/track combo after just few corners. I am a big fan of the heavy understeery monsters.

At the qualy Hristo was able to take the pole just faster than me, just like in the training earlier. Cheesy

I was calm though because i knew my car works best on the race session and on the qualy i was around half a second slower than my best time with 105 liters.

The start was OK, but the first corner was not. I thought i started braking early to avoid problems, but still the car went on the grass and i lost 2 positions to Dan and Erling and i was attacked by Clive.

I was able to stay in front of Clive and started chasing the front 3. I was worry that Hristo will pull away quickly so it was important to stay close to him.

I was able to catch Erling first and after i bump him on the acceleration from the last corner  oops on the braking for the second one the next lap i was able to overtake him. Now it was Dan ahead and i overtake him at the same place as Erling and they both tried counter attacks on the second corner but i was lucky to stay ahead.

So it was just Hristo in front as he had 3-4 seconds lead. And he started driving even faster, but after few laps my tires started working great and now i was the fastest car on the track. I was catching Hristo and just after the middle of the race i made my first attacks. Little by little i was waiting for my chance and finally i was able to overtake him after the first corner. We had amazing wheel to wheel battle though.

After that until lap 14-15 i  was faster and then my car started to oversteer a little bit because of the setup and Hristo was faster now. He was able to terminate my lead and just few laps before the end of the race we started another chase.

Every tent of the second was important here as i was lucky to drive with more tire pressure that kept me in front of him at the straights. And man, the braking for the last corner of the last lap decided the winner. We both started braking a little bit earlier, waiting for the another to brake later and go wide. Cheesy

At the end it was amazing and fair play battle that i enjoyed a lot. I hope you will watch the replay as it was indeed great race from my perspective. https://youtu.be/Xhbv1lv2ZpM

Congrats to Hristo and Daz for the podiums.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Clive, glad I wasn't the instigator of your exit other than restricting the amount of track available to you......

A bit like Geoff said, I was nowhere near the 2.19s in this, so the pace out front was too much for me. Start was OK, but beaten to the punch completely by Dan once more (familiar story that one) and went into turn one having dropped a place. This became several more when the car just didn't want to obey the brake pedal at all for turn 1, sending me wide. I think that if the whole field had got away together that would have seen me in a lot of trouble in all honesty....

Picked up some places over the next few laps, seemed able to punch off the corners a little better than some guys. Erling provided his usual precise driving to overcome, long straights do help....And then chased and passed the aforementioned Dan for 3rd with well over half the race left. I gained a well done for a particularly sideways moment in front of him, and eased away gradually. But, the two guys were away in front, and though it seemed my race pace was closer to them than my quali pace, there was no way I was catching a 13 second gap to them without some kind of co-operation from one or both, and it never came. So, brought the big old bus home for a 3rd that was probably more than I deserved.

Grats to Dimitar and Hristo for their outstanding pace here. I'm going to hope that leaving the tire pressures at default was where some of the pace was.....
