I think next week I'll take the MC12 as although the Saleen was ok, was a bit heavy for my liking, I prefer something that needs slightly less man handling.
I hate to disappoint you Simon, but the MC12 is around 60kgs heavier than the Saleen in UKGTR spec.

That race pretty much sucked for me. On the formation lap, just about everyone in front of me locked up, and I ended up sliding into Locutos - sorry mate Then on the 2nd lap, Locutos half spun, and Lincsescom had to brake and swerve to aviod hitting him. Unfortunately I had nowhere to go again and lost some more of my front splitter. After this, I had a very understeering Saleen. Could just about keep up with people in front, and had a good battle with Mark Mc, but a bit disappointed to be so far down the order

Darn, certainly feels lighter than the Saleen, more chuckable for sure. May end up in a few races going back to the Lambo I used for 3 season of GTR1, but gonna give a few a try to see what they're like even if I do get a 20% penalty or whatever it is. 20% of Zero points is no problem.

Strange race for me, as I never felt I had the car working properly. Qual was terrible as I should have been quicker (even allowing for online times being slower than offline). I started 6th, made up a place when Leuven went wide and then spent several laps chasing Martin's Lister. As in the NGT race, the car understeered on the exits, which made passing difficult even when I had a good position. In the end, Martin was very slow into the long right at the bottom of the hill, I just about ran out of room trying to avoid him and Baracus nipped by me in the confusion. I then had a spin on the next corner trying to catch up from off-line. Leuven went past at this point, and the majority of the rest of the race was chasing him (like with Martin, I was faster, but had no easy way to get past). In the end the pressure told as he went wide again, and as Martin and Baracus had both gone off before that I was left in a comfortable 4th - probably about what I could have hoped for based on race pace .
Congrats to CJ (& Jon) who are in another league at the moment.

Something bad in the air today methinks! Just to add to the "carp race for me" crew, I really can't believe my bad luck. Here's my story (I will try not to go on but i am well p'd off)!! I was still trying out some fairly dramatically different setups in the 2 practice sessions and settled on one with a bit of oversteer but nice and controllable. Qualified 8th which became 7th when Rad didn't turn up. A steady start and good few first laps. Someone went off and I was catch Martin and Paul a bit then losing a bit. They were slowing each other down so I managed to get right up close then they touched a bit which gave me a gap past Paul... although he recovered well so I had to defend into the next slower corner but this meant braking late and I ended up having to cut inside Martin but didnt quite make it - sorry for that scrape!! I let him go as it was unfair to take that place aswell. A few laps later I got past cleanly into P4 and than had his Lister all over my ass. This was about half distance and then my problems started!!! My Momo Force (red one) started making a strange noise in the turns like teeth grinding. It put me off at first coz I was wondering what the hell was going on, which made me loose concentration and I came off the track (not badly) so Martin was back through. This noise got worse and worse every lap but seemed OK on the straights. I tried to drive through this "mechanical" problem Schuey style and was coping OK but losing a lot of time. I really cant believe the bad timing but literally on the last half of the last lap it died totally and I had no FF and the noise of grinding cogs was constant and so loud I couldnt hear my engine!! This totally screwed me and I went from 7th (or 6th) to 10th in the run up the hill to the finish!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Oh well, I will have to order a G25 if it works with my pedals but it seems a bit of a waste seeing as I dont need the pedals or shifter. (I got the Frex H-Shifter and ECCI pedals/clutch) Still cant believe that if it lasted just 1 more minute I would have been OK and happy with my position, considering what happened, but OOOH NOOO! Bugger. Sorry to anyone I got in the way of on that last lap and grats to the podium... 'till next time.

I will never have an espresso just before race. Never AGAIN! Qualifications were disappointing as I scored 9th time - 2s below my PB. I always liked Brno and at least hoped to gain some places in race. Unfortunately - it was not my lucky day. On third lap I failed to brake into T4 and dropped to 14th. Approached Truetom and Pablo without problems, but then gave a friendly "slap" to Truetom at T9 sending him into the sand. As I felt guilty about his lost places I ran a self induced "drive through" penalty, which made me drop to 21th. Again. But - is there anything better than a good chase? After some crazy driving and very close (sometimes too close) encounters with Ivonsmiven (mate I thought you would run wide as I did for you just corner earlier), Linescom and EdamSpeed I finished 13th. Not bad considering the place loss I suffered twice. Right now I'm not so sure I should have penalised myself - but (the hell) it's all about racing and no decision should be regretted. At least I'll sleep well tonight. Congratulations to all you gentelman, with special cheers to the lucky three.

Has anyone, particularly Saleen drivers, found soft fronts to last for these 40 min GT sprints ? Unfortunately i didnt find the time to test my Saleen setup in race trim and suffered the dreaded understeer throughout with the med boots. Losing 2 secs a lap was no fun Are you guys generally lowering your front ARB from your qually setups to compensate for the meds ?

Congrats to the podium, good to see 2 Sharks up there. Pretty good race. Qualified right next to Simon (again), in 13th with a new F550 PB. Could tell he was struggling, so wasn't suprised when he spun off. Picked up a few more places as people had problems. Had some luck at the end. A recovering Pablo was catching me quickly, while I struggled with worn fronts. A few corners before the end I passed a splitter-less Baracus to give me 8th place, which also gave me just enough breathing space to defend the last two corners from Pablo. Finished a couple places higher as a result. Need to check the replay over some minor contact half way through the race.

Team SharkGT Rank Name: Michael Bennett The correct procedure is brake-swear, not swear-brake.

Generally not me. I don't see how softs on the front last at all. At Brno the left front was the hottest tyre of all 4 with miles more wear than the others both in NGT and GT. All I tend to do is more fuel, medium tyres, open radiator one more and very occasionally take off one rear wing for greater overtaking.

Is hard rubber used during the enduros or is medium as far as anybody would push it?
How about brake ducts - is the impact on performance sufficiently minimal that you can run wide open or fully closed?
Thanks to your advice, I just picked up an adsl extension cable from Maplin's... so that should eliminate the problem of warping.. perhaps this is a point that could be added to the rules as a suggestion (that inaddition to setting ISDN in-game, wi-fi connections should be discouraged from a lag perspective)

I personally never use hard tyres. I haven't actually tried them in GTR2 but in GTR1 they did not give enough grip to make the extra durability worth it. As there is an enforced pit stop in the Endurance running mediums for both stints imho is the best way to go. No I don't think you'd be able to run them fully closed. You'd be locking your brakes a lot and wearing your brakes too much. Fully open would mean you had less temperature in your brakes so reduce your ability to actually brake. A happy setting in the middle is best as with most things. Reduce it for qually to get more braking power as you don't care about durability of the brakes.

The only time you'll need hards is when the track is *seriously* hot. Other than that, just go for meds. Even in enduros - if you need to change tyres, do so at the fuel stop.
With hards, unless it's very hot, you'll never get them properly up to temperature, and they won't have very much grip because of that.
On the Saleen, there's no chance of making softs last for 40 minutes. No chance at all. Mark, I can let you have my set up if you like.. I don't change ARBs from qualy to race, but perhaps that's just me.

I used soft fronts and med rears (Ferrari 550). I found that they stay in a good operating temparature for the whole 40 mins that way. Although you must avoid scrubbing them through too aggressive movement but that in turn helps keep the car smooth and fast. Ordered my G25 wheel today which should be here tomorrow!! Woohooo Will probably take a whole lot of getting used to with the higher rotation it will allow me, but really looking forward to the precision for these cars and GTL too. Shame there are no other companies other than Logitech that do a FF wheel, coz I really didnt want to give them my money again after my Momo breaking up within 8 months. I hope the build quality is better on the G25. Do you think I should turn down the effects a bit because I have a feeling it was the way GTR2 uses the motors that screwed it so quick. By the way is there no GTL Ladder race this Thursday?
