Great news Fran, thank you! I've actually been to that track back in 1968 when I lived in Auckland for about a year. I can't remember much about it, I was only 8 years old. But I seem to recall there were a lot of Falcons and Holdens!

Holden is an Australian make of automobile. I believe the Parent company is General Motors.
In great britain we have Vauxhall, In europe Opal, USA chevy etc.

Yes that's right. The was (still is?) no indiginous car manufacturers in NZ so a lot of the cars in the 60s were imported from Australia or imported and assembled locally. Bruce McLaren probably designed and built more cars than any other Kiwi. Someone let me know if I'm wrong. Hence Ford Falcons (Ford Australia) and Holdens (GM Australia) were popular cars in saloon car racing.

In Australia it is more a matter of religion. The whole population is either Ford or Holden. Even if they own a Merc!
