Season 38 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 3 – Works - Valentino
This race announcement is for the WORKS.
The third race in the 1955 Grand Prix series finds us at Parco del Valentino Torino in Italy. Parco del Valentino (also known as Valentino Park) is a popular public park in Turin. It is located along the west bank of the Po river. Several races were held here between 1935 and 1955, it is the 1955 layout that we will be using for this race. This is a very challenging circuit with virtually no run-off areas, plenty of undulations and blind corners. Discretion is the better part of valour for this track.
Please note: We are using the v3 version of this track. It is the final and best version with a new layout, new objects and new textures. Ginetto also moved the Start/Finish line to the correct place according to pictures from the real race in 1955. We are NOT using the older version which has a track directory called turin55.

Practice servers for Works and Privateers are up on iGOR. Please test your connections. This track is very tough so drivers will have to use very careful brake temperature management. There are no run-offs here but the track is how it was in 1955 although, arguably, the eventual winner Alberto Ascari had better brakes than us . The start line looks like this today.

We raced here in september 2013 with mod67 cars. There was only one car at the finish even with good brakes ! https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=11903.0

There was only one car at the finish even with good brakes ! Yes I remember that race, you won! A very rare drive from last on the grid to top spot on the podium, a lesson for everyone on how to drive this track. Please note, that race was on the v2 version of the track. We are running the V3 on Sunday, subtly different but just as deadly. I managed to survive almost to the end before I crashed whilst leading I won't be doing that again!

Just one more day to try to get it right! Having my first Covid jab today, so any errors on my part are already covered with an adequate excuse!

If sticking a huge metal spike in your arm and pumping random chemicals into your circulatory system slows you down, then I don't see any problem I used to be anti-vax, but I might have changed my mind in the last hour or two I guess it is all a question of what is think is really important in my life ........

They are not random, I even have the batch number! As for important, it's most important that you are slowed down as much as me! After that, being able to provide my granddaughter's child care, after she has been to a nursery, without her bringing back something to kill me kind of swings it! Don't understand anyone being ant-vax, unless a) you have a health condition that my cause you to react badly or b) you are talking about those ugly vacuum cleaners

FWIW..............my wife has arranged for me to be "done" on Monday. I did point out that if my arm goes numb for a week, how on earth am I going to race and use an H shifter?? I guess I will have to ask some pertinent questions regarding simracing at the vaccination centre, they are sure to have the answers to everything

I'm glad we don't have a running commentary in our races. I'm convinced all proffessional race commentators nowadays, take a large Caffein injection before the 'off.' They didn't used to scream and yell back in the 50's! Grumble . . .

You could always have Evil on Teamspeak. Something along the lines of " I say Mable, if it isn't too much trouble, do you think that we could have tyres on the car?".

I'm reporting you to the stewards for substance abuse and artificial performance enhancements!! And anyway, Arnold says tyres are for wimps and only add to the unsprung weight!! A strip of Mabel's knicker elastic around each rim is much lighter and offers more natural grip.
