Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 176s

Edza is trying to warm his brakes on the pace lap as the field approaches les combes. Gerald seems to back off at the same time and Edza rear ends Gerald.

This was clearly a lack of care on Edza's part, but I feel he was a little unlucky at the same time. I would warn all drivers to make sure that there is a decent gap ahead before doing such a thing, and also to try and make sure that you are on a different line from the car ahead in case he brakes unexpectedly.

  • Edzapenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 360s

A number of drivers seem to have got the wrong idea about the start procedure. Exteq martin in particular failed to close the gap to the car in front before engaging the pit lane limiter, which affected everyone behind. Others also didn't close the gap, and Jamera lets the gap open round the last corner by slowing down (even tho on the limiter at that point).

Since so many seem to have been confused by this there is little point in issuing warnings or penalties. Can I ask everyone please have a read of the rules on this, and make sure that you close up to the car in front before engaging the limiter. Also, please note that you can go as soon as the car in front has gone, and that you do not have to wait till you cross the line.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 397s

Don is approaching les combes offline and quite slowly. Luke Mustoo is catching at a rate of knots and attempts to pass just as Don is on the apex. Luke leaves some room, but Don slides a bit off the curb and nudges Luke off.

This was a difficult situation for both drivers. I can't blame Luke for having a go, although he might have left a bit more room. On the other hand, Don slid a bit wide off the curb, without which there would have been no contact. I call this a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 402s

Luke is recovering after his incident with Don. He rejoins the track at a sharp angle with no regard for other cars, resulting in Don and Stanley Chan both hitting the wall.

This was simply unforgivable. You must make every effort to rejoin safely, and if possible at a gentle angle so that other cars can avoid you.

Server replay time: 726s

Don has a dive down the inside of Mike Cooper, but goes too deep. Mike cuts back inside (slightly touching Don's bumper as he does so), leaving them side by side in the 2nd half of the corner. Don comes back to the inside a bit too much and bumps off Mike, sending Don off the track to the outside.

Although Mike did touch Don at first, this didn't affect the incident and was unintentional. In the 2nd part, Mike was entitled to his side of the track, so Don should have stayed wider. Since this didn't affect Mike and Don lost out, I'll call this a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 985s

Martin is very slow in the middle of Eau Rouge, and Don, who is following, doesn't realise until it is too late. Don keeps his foot in and tries to pass on the left, cutting the track on the left to do so, but in the process also clipping Martin and spinning him in into the barriers.

Ordinarily I would see martin's slow speed as a significant mitigating factor in the incident, but Don made no effort to slow down to avoid an accident, instead choosing to cut the track at full speed, and this was a very bad choice in the circumstances. I therefore feel the full penalty is justified.

  • Donpenalty — Lack of care passing another car — 2 places lost

Not sure what was going on on the pace lap, I think somebody had a bad connection and it was having major knock on effects at the back of the grid. There was some silly stuff going on too as an indirect result - reports as usual and we'll sort the mess out in moderation. Sad

Speaking of the back of the grid, I wasn't supposed to be there. My ADSL connection decided to re-speed itself with less than 10 minutes of qualifying to go and it took me about a dozen attempts to get back in. Angry

Race was pretty exciting from the back once the formation lap was out of the way. There was some stuff going on at the tail of the field which is perhaps best described as "excessively frantic" - will make an interesting (in the Chinese curse sense) replay I suspect. Don't really want to comment until I've seen it but I think I was pretty clean as I hacked my way back through the field to a fairly satisfying 10th place with a solid performance which I hope bodes well for the Endurance event on Sunday.

First of all unlucky to Perdy. He spun early on but caught me up and managed to get passed on the second to last lap. I am chasing him just trying to keep him honest when a spinning back marker must have lost it at Blanchimont and was right in the middle of the track. Big collision I took to the grass to avoid the 2 cars. After letting Perdy have the spot back it was clear his car was  censored !! Went back by for my first 2nd place which is good for the champ standings. Not the way I would have wanted it though!

Good pace Poddy congrats for the win.

I enjoyed myself... happy with the qually, steady start - may have had light contact with Linescom I think it was, nothing I could do massive lag Sad.

After the start I followed the RSR for a few laps before getting close going into Eau Rouge and then using every horse under the hood to get alongside and take the place.  After that I had a good gap back and with spinners etc got up to 5th.  One MAJOR 1fps hit later going into the Bus Stop I'd dropped to 7th, and was 5 secs back, a gap I never made a dent in.  There were a few more spins infront allowing me to close on Jamera, getting past on the last lap after he had a bit of a tankslapper at the Bus Stop, only for me to completely miss my braking point for the hairpin, and he duly went back past.

All in all it was a good race for me, happy with another single digit finishing place, and looking forward to the endurance now.

Cheers all, unlucky you lot that got nerfed and didn't last the distance.

Span on the pace lap. Got a puncture. Tried to hobble around to the pit. Hit someone near the bus stop (Will maybe??) So Sorry, I cant apologise enough to whoever it was.

Sorry if I caused any grief on the pace lap. I honestly don't know how I span..

Sorry!

ReignMan

Its ok - i was annoyed at the time tho! swearing into the monitor and everything!!

But as it turns out, no practice equals terrible set up again - was ok on the first few laps, but under estimated the rear grip exiting corners in the GT3, and being a bit too heavy with the gas = facing a) the wrong way, or b) the barrier.

So i reckon it didn't really make to much difference to my race laugh
What are the rules if you lose it on the pace lap - are you allowed to overtake the cars in front to regain your position?
i wasn't sure so just sat at the back...

im off to smoke some fags Angry (of the tabacco variety)

If you bin it on the pace lap, the back of the grid beckons...

Hmmm, a smoke sounds good to me.  Best get back to the Legends garage before all the cigars and Cinzano are gone!!

I'm not in this NGT class, but I'd love a moderator to post an official ruling on this too. I think it'd be beneficial for everyone in all the classes to know what to do if you spin on the warm up lap, at least it would lower confusion.

The rules state:

"Any driver who because of a technical failure stops, or who leaves the track (either by mistake or because of a failure), is responsible for rejoining the formation lap safely.
This may mean waiting until the entire field has passed and rejoining in last place.
The driver shall not attempt to regain their original starting position."

Turning into GTL!

If you want to come back to GTL you're more than welcome. The racing is pretty clean nowadays with some good racing. There is plenty of space if you want to don your 60s helmet and put the pedal to the metal.

Cheers Ruskus.

NP. But how are you liking the new lapchart thingy. I like it more than the other one, it has better features (gaps etc) and it looks more "professional". It gives a good overview.
