Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 176s

Edza is trying to warm his brakes on the pace lap as the field approaches les combes. Gerald seems to back off at the same time and Edza rear ends Gerald.

This was clearly a lack of care on Edza's part, but I feel he was a little unlucky at the same time. I would warn all drivers to make sure that there is a decent gap ahead before doing such a thing, and also to try and make sure that you are on a different line from the car ahead in case he brakes unexpectedly.

  • Edzapenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 360s

A number of drivers seem to have got the wrong idea about the start procedure. Exteq martin in particular failed to close the gap to the car in front before engaging the pit lane limiter, which affected everyone behind. Others also didn't close the gap, and Jamera lets the gap open round the last corner by slowing down (even tho on the limiter at that point).

Since so many seem to have been confused by this there is little point in issuing warnings or penalties. Can I ask everyone please have a read of the rules on this, and make sure that you close up to the car in front before engaging the limiter. Also, please note that you can go as soon as the car in front has gone, and that you do not have to wait till you cross the line.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 397s

Don is approaching les combes offline and quite slowly. Luke Mustoo is catching at a rate of knots and attempts to pass just as Don is on the apex. Luke leaves some room, but Don slides a bit off the curb and nudges Luke off.

This was a difficult situation for both drivers. I can't blame Luke for having a go, although he might have left a bit more room. On the other hand, Don slid a bit wide off the curb, without which there would have been no contact. I call this a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 402s

Luke is recovering after his incident with Don. He rejoins the track at a sharp angle with no regard for other cars, resulting in Don and Stanley Chan both hitting the wall.

This was simply unforgivable. You must make every effort to rejoin safely, and if possible at a gentle angle so that other cars can avoid you.

Server replay time: 726s

Don has a dive down the inside of Mike Cooper, but goes too deep. Mike cuts back inside (slightly touching Don's bumper as he does so), leaving them side by side in the 2nd half of the corner. Don comes back to the inside a bit too much and bumps off Mike, sending Don off the track to the outside.

Although Mike did touch Don at first, this didn't affect the incident and was unintentional. In the 2nd part, Mike was entitled to his side of the track, so Don should have stayed wider. Since this didn't affect Mike and Don lost out, I'll call this a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 985s

Martin is very slow in the middle of Eau Rouge, and Don, who is following, doesn't realise until it is too late. Don keeps his foot in and tries to pass on the left, cutting the track on the left to do so, but in the process also clipping Martin and spinning him in into the barriers.

Ordinarily I would see martin's slow speed as a significant mitigating factor in the incident, but Don made no effort to slow down to avoid an accident, instead choosing to cut the track at full speed, and this was a very bad choice in the circumstances. I therefore feel the full penalty is justified.

  • Donpenalty — Lack of care passing another car — 2 places lost

I'm undecided at the moment, although I like the way the qualifying was shown in the last one.  Not that I'm going to complain.  Smiley

For NGT racing, do you guys run at max revs - or step back by 100rpm? Radiator and brake ducts?
Still learning - but had a really great time on track today! Something to look forward to on Tuesdays!

great race guys! i think i take the "Fast but erratic driver of the day award" after a couple of spins in first half of race but was a lot more consistent in the second half!!!

WELL DONE TO PODDY.... great pace in the race with 2m20s quite consistently. And the pressure at the beginning ended with my first spin! good racing!

I managed to catch Paul, taking the whole race to recover from my initial spins, and managed to get a cracking exit and nab 2nd. Then the dramas began! Will spun at Rivage and thanfully we didn't make contact and then coming out of blanchimont i was faced with a spinning Ferrari360 which couldnt be avoided and I ended up hitting and damaging my suspension!!!!!

Paul took good evasive action and judged it well, thanks for letting me past Paul, but my suspension was pretty bad and i didn't want to hold u up any longer! I limped home on last lap and thankfully retained 3rd!

Thats racing and I would not have it any other way!!!!!!!

grats to paul who now leads standings! till the next time!  Wink lol

I'm quite obviously really chuffed with how the race went, I felt so awful when i saw Perdy spin! I was really looking forward to a great battle for 1st, which you thoroughly provided at the beginning of the race! Great sportsmanship man Smiley Saw quite a few screw ups when running into some back markers, luckily I narrowly avoided some too. Well done to Paul and importantly Perdy, from pulling it back after the initial spin.

Great race! Couldn't have hoped for more!  Grin

Personally, I increase the Radiator one and depending on if I've dropped the brake ducts for qually I put them back up.
Then I tend to not rev quite as high in the race just to conserve the engine, but I leave the rev limit alone, for those overtaking moments where I want extra revs.

ah... so if u're nice to the engine.. u can keep the rev limiter at the max setting? would you do that for the enduro? My caution stems from blown engines in F1c and ctdp, but i guess tis a totally different kettle of fish...

on that note.. would your reponse (cf reliability) apply to the GT1s before? Last week's sprint at Brno was the 1st time I'd gone that far in one sitting. Thanks again!

I always use max rev settings for Sprint and Endurance. For endurance I would normally change just into the red zone to be that little bit kinder and use the extra revs for overtaking or pushes on lap time, whereas Sprints I tend to change at 2 or 3 red bars.

It's more important to not over-rev it and not let it get too hot. Over-reving occurs where you don't let off the throttle during up-shifts (for those with manual clutch). This is the biggest single killer of engines, rather than the rev limit.

If you have the extra revs available then you can choose to use them or not, so having the extra revs in your setup is only dangerous if you choose to use them by always revving it to the 4th red bar before changing, or you let the engine get too hot, or you don't lift when you shift for manual clutchers).

Normally I try have revs on max all the time and try not to use them but at Spa I ended up being unable to set the gear ratios up to avoid seeing the Big Red Light(tm) come on each and every time at the end of the Kemmel Straight. I half expected the engine to go pop near the end, especially with the radiator vents at just 2, but the 350Z's engine appears to be pretty much bulletproof, at least the way I drive it (slowly).

Hi all Sorry for being in the way whilst having a big barrier testing spin , how did Dave end up at back of grid ,there was a car jumping at me on the pace lap and someone  tail ended me as well. Would have liked to pit on the pace lap but did not know how to enter pit lane with cars around me.Thought I was going quite well for a start and was following Dave at one point but then it got very squirilly and finally attacked the blanchemount barriers. I definatley intend to quallyfi last at the next meeting as am fed up with being tail ended. Cheers gerald ps no blame or bad feeling to anyone as s***t happens
