Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 176s

Edza is trying to warm his brakes on the pace lap as the field approaches les combes. Gerald seems to back off at the same time and Edza rear ends Gerald.

This was clearly a lack of care on Edza's part, but I feel he was a little unlucky at the same time. I would warn all drivers to make sure that there is a decent gap ahead before doing such a thing, and also to try and make sure that you are on a different line from the car ahead in case he brakes unexpectedly.

  • Edzapenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 360s

A number of drivers seem to have got the wrong idea about the start procedure. Exteq martin in particular failed to close the gap to the car in front before engaging the pit lane limiter, which affected everyone behind. Others also didn't close the gap, and Jamera lets the gap open round the last corner by slowing down (even tho on the limiter at that point).

Since so many seem to have been confused by this there is little point in issuing warnings or penalties. Can I ask everyone please have a read of the rules on this, and make sure that you close up to the car in front before engaging the limiter. Also, please note that you can go as soon as the car in front has gone, and that you do not have to wait till you cross the line.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 397s

Don is approaching les combes offline and quite slowly. Luke Mustoo is catching at a rate of knots and attempts to pass just as Don is on the apex. Luke leaves some room, but Don slides a bit off the curb and nudges Luke off.

This was a difficult situation for both drivers. I can't blame Luke for having a go, although he might have left a bit more room. On the other hand, Don slid a bit wide off the curb, without which there would have been no contact. I call this a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 402s

Luke is recovering after his incident with Don. He rejoins the track at a sharp angle with no regard for other cars, resulting in Don and Stanley Chan both hitting the wall.

This was simply unforgivable. You must make every effort to rejoin safely, and if possible at a gentle angle so that other cars can avoid you.

Server replay time: 726s

Don has a dive down the inside of Mike Cooper, but goes too deep. Mike cuts back inside (slightly touching Don's bumper as he does so), leaving them side by side in the 2nd half of the corner. Don comes back to the inside a bit too much and bumps off Mike, sending Don off the track to the outside.

Although Mike did touch Don at first, this didn't affect the incident and was unintentional. In the 2nd part, Mike was entitled to his side of the track, so Don should have stayed wider. Since this didn't affect Mike and Don lost out, I'll call this a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 985s

Martin is very slow in the middle of Eau Rouge, and Don, who is following, doesn't realise until it is too late. Don keeps his foot in and tries to pass on the left, cutting the track on the left to do so, but in the process also clipping Martin and spinning him in into the barriers.

Ordinarily I would see martin's slow speed as a significant mitigating factor in the incident, but Don made no effort to slow down to avoid an accident, instead choosing to cut the track at full speed, and this was a very bad choice in the circumstances. I therefore feel the full penalty is justified.

  • Donpenalty — Lack of care passing another car — 2 places lost

If it's any consolation, my loyalty to the 350Z is going to cost me dearly here as the car has a poor top speed, and appears to be very tail happy too. Undecided

Eau Rouge is one of the few corners I'm not having a problem with - which probably means I'm not doing it fast enough! Cheesy

I've not run a lot of laps here in the M3 (I'll stick with the M3 - adds a bit of variety), got a reasonable setup, just a few more tweaks to make to the setup.  I'm also not expecting great things here, just not had enough time on track.

Are you driving at the 2003 version? The 2004 is a few sec slower than the 2003 one. And in the 2003 Spa, 2:17's are possible (Jon probably goes into the 2:16's Smiley)

2:23 is the best I've managed so far in the (-50kg) 350Z. I'm struggling to see what I can do with the setup which will cure the entry and mid-corner oversteer but not give me big understeer on exit.

Don't forget that the Academy race is now 40 minutes like the Masters! Cheesy

No definitely 2003!! Unfortunately!!
Only been at this a few weeks, the G25 has definitely helped, just need a little time and a lot more talent!!
I'm still trying to fine tune the set up and I'm still braking way too early for some of the corners !
I'll stick with it!!
It's still good racing at the back of the pack!!
Had a brilliant fight with Dangerman in the last race.

If it was easy, it would be no fun!!

I have similiar problems!!

What about tires temps....

If I drive normally I struggle to maintain front tire temps. ( Very smooth turn in etc. )
If I over turn the wheel excessively, ( like you do to scrub your tires ) in turn 3,4,5 and 6 then I'm ok for the rest of the lap!?

Any comments suggestions?

Do 3 or 4 laps at race pace (i.e. pushing hard but not taking silly risks) and then post your tire temps here. There are so many ways to raise temps (one way being softening your roll bars) that  it's hard to guess without the figures.

I did a few laps yesterday and my tyre temps were in the high 70's (which is the usual for me on all the tracks i have raced)..

What concerns me is the times you guys are getting. I have had to increase the "Dead Zone" on my stick as it is falling apart. Just a warning for you guys, I no longer have subtle steering control to the left so I might be a bit ragged on left handers.
