Sorry to keep bumping this old topic
But I sort-of fixed my broadband problem, or at the very least it's being sorted. Apparently Tiscali have 'fessed up to a problem with some of their IPStream connections being lousy with games. They're allowing some folk a free migration to Datastream, which apparently fixes it. So, I have asked for that myself.
However, in the meantime, I've discovered that if I sit in the upstairs room, and dangle a USB wireless access point out of the Velux window, I can get a connection to the pub next door's wireless network
Managed to get online on Wednesday night without too much trouble, apart from having to move everything up to the loft room and sitting at an awkwardly shaped desk
