Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Track: Donington Park (National)

Cars allowed: Austin Healey 3000, Lotus Elan 26R, Lotus Elite, Renault Alpine A110.

Race restrictions: Any driver who cannot achieve a minimum lap time of 1:33.0 in qualification setup should not enter these events.

Note: Driver's can only choose one car make per race. Applies to Round's 3, 4, & 5.

CUP STAGE C, Round 4

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (36 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: NO

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Fred = EvilClive   Grin Wink

Not my thing at the moment - fighting with a beginning tendonitis in my left elbow possibly due to mouse work overload after 13 months at a not really
ergonomic working place at home which makes driving a bit painful.

And normally this would have been the beginning of my six week holidays in Denmark over my 60th birthday which had to be cancelled due to well known circumstances.  Tongue Sad Angry

So there's also a certain lack of motivation at the moment

Ironically and totally surprising today - when i normally would have moved into my vacation home with view over the North Sea and to Hirtshals lighthouse - I'll have
my first vaccination. Vaccination instead of vacation  Grin - I'm not sure what I had preferred ...

Hope to see you on Wednesday on track.

Sorry for any confusion guys. I had missed ( OK, not actually read  Roll Eyes) the message about the "fix" for Donington. So,  FRED= Evilclive, but if it is easier to scrub my part in the race I don't mind.

As a result I had a rather frantic 5 minutes getting things sorted on my PC and opted to use a virgin GTL install I had on standby, ready for any new series that my come up. It was not until  had re-joined the server and done a few laps that I realised that somehow I had used an alter alias ( FRED ) that I had used for testing purposes.

As for the race. I lucked out with a few tweaks to the default Healey 3000 setup and it felt quite comfortable on race fuel, which incidentally was my biggest mistake because I put in sufficient for 36 laps on the setup and discovered that was about twice what I actually needed at the end.

After the first few laps and a few incidents ahead I found myself in 4th place. The fast bunch ahead was pulling away led by Ziu, whilst Daz and Tony were gradually losing ground behind. So, for most of the race I was running alone and it was a bit of a shock when Ziu was suddenly behind me and about to put me a lap down. Then I circulated for more laps until I think I was basically "sleep driving" and really not concentrating at all, with my lap times dropping off, until a recovering Matt dragged Daz and Tony much closer.
I was so dozy that I simply could not find my earlier rhythm, or anything close to it, and ended up spinning several times at places where I had been completely solid before.
Quite enjoyed the grunt of the Healey and if I had stayed fully awake I might have enjoyed the race as well!!

Nice race yesterday but i had no chance battling the Elans. Ziu and Coyote were faster so it was P3 for me all the time even though i took P2 at the start away from Erling which is strange as he is the Start Master here.

Not so strange really - I'm not that much of a start master, and the rear engined Alpine has really good traction off the line.

Race was a boring affair, with the only distractions being lapping slower cars.

Alpine with the engine in the rear can launch more easily than the Elan  Wink

I found good pace here, but it wasn't quite enough in the little Elite to really duke it out with the Healeys of Clive and Boomerang Tony, who ended up dragging Matt along for the ride as well. So, although I was consistent, I could never get close enough to be a proper pest, and brought it home in 6th only because Clive had some troubles....

Really enjoyed that race. Don't usually get the chance to overtake the likes of Geoffers and Daz and enjoyed passing them soooo much I deliberately span off so I could do it all over again  Wink

Gave Matt a free pass when I mistook his car for DD's Grrrrr.
