Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Track: Spa Francorchamps

Cars allowed: Austin Healey 3000, Lotus Elan 26R, Lotus Elite, Renault Alpine A110.

Note: Driver's can only choose one car make per race. Applies to Round's 3, 4, & 5.

CUP STAGE C, Round 5

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (16 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: NO

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Back's killing me at the moment, so had to limit my practice for this race; not that any amount of practice would have made me competitive.  Have also had to put any "alien training" on hold, although after last night's performance, I believe we've reached the "why even bother" state  Roll Eyes

Grats to Matt & podium sitters.

It was fortunate that only Tony and I had an Elan drive (or others opted not to use it)
Made a rubbish start, I think because I could not hear my own engine with all the Squealies
around  Shocked  so was mugged into Eau Rouge, but regained places on the straight except Dimitar
who I managed a sneaky pass in double gauche, then slowly pulled out a gap to the field
Was trying very hard to keep it on the black stuff, had a couple of slight wobbles, but just
circulated as fast as I needed to to not loose the gap.

The fight for 2nd place looked well interesting  Cool

The fight for 2nd place looked well interesting  Cool

Indeed it was, although I was only involved for 3 or 4 laps at the beginning dicing with DD. Daz caught up with us & when he gave me the slightest of bumps on the approach to the bus stop it was enough to take my attention & I missed my braking point & skated off the road. I then compounded it by somehow totally overshooting La Source, I braked in my normal place but the car just didn't stop  Huh. Maybe the tyres were still dirty after my off.

The frantic battle for 2nd allowed me to close up on those involved but my pace was really not fast enough to catch them before the finish. However I never made it that far, got Radillon totally wrong with 3 laps left, ran onto the gripless tarmac on the right & clouted the barrier, wrecking the car.

Congrats to Matt on the win & to Daz & Tony on the podium.  clap clap clap

Sympathy with your back pain Erling, those who suffer this complaint know how depressed it can make you. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I thoroughly enjoyed that race. Not often (almost never) I find myself tangling with the boys at the sharp end and my palms were wet with sweat throughout that race. In fact I would say that that was one of my best races at Spa, even though I acknowledge the criticism  Roll Eyes some voiced after the race for my youthful eagerness. Amazing how the tyres on the Elan seemed to give up by two thirds distance. That and my hastily modified setup proved to make hard braking an event every time the brakes were asked to do their bit.

If only all races could provide this much excitement................

Big battle for second, third, 4th and so on indeed.

I had good pace in Q and was able to just outqualify Manfred for P2 and to take the lead with my car starting better than Matt's. But soon he was able to retake the lead and i never saw him again.

We had good battle with Geoff at the beginning and i was all but not concentrated for some reason. The most stupid mistake was to downshift to 3rd for the fast left corner at the end. Fortunately geoff was able to avoid me.

After we both made few mistakes now we had Manfred and Daz just behind and lap after lap my car became slower and slower for no reason. I was making 2:57's and even though i was fighting like a lion i had no chance against the faster guys.

At the end i made a mistake at the final corner, hit the barriers ans slip the car. So it's just P6 this time but it was fun.

Meanwhile apologies to Tony. I had to comment on his attack on Eau Rouge on PM. And to be clear, like i said on the stream - there was nothing wrong with Tony's move, just it was going to be better for both of us if he was waiting until the Camel straight where with more top speed he was going to overtake without a problem.

Grats to Matt, Daz and Tony.

Looks like you guys had fun.
I was hoping for a little tin top action myself and even selected the Alpine, for no other reason that I have never really tamed it. But I had some very strange technical problems with my wheel/controls etc.

No FF, and I find that very disorientating. So I spent practice trying to resurect  "the force" without any joy. Quali was spent trying to learn how to drive without FF... I must be a slow learner judging by my best quali time!!??

To finish a perfectly miserable visit to Spa, when I went to the grid I discovered that the brakes were fully ON without a foot anywhere near any pedal and the steering was fully left in the cockpit view, but my G25 was centred. Decided that I did not have the optimum race setup, so I went back to the pits and kicked Arnold. I would have kicked Mable too, but I am not that brave!  Roll Eyes

I have just fired up the server for the Aussie series to check what the hell was wrong and discovered that under CONTROLS all of the assignments were wrong. Did a complete re-calibrate and double checked all assignments and it all works again  Undecided. So, I hope to be at Surfers Paradise with you on Wed.

Maybe your tests at Linux which will have put the mess in the firmware of Bodnar cables ... Roll Eyes Wink Grin

I am looking at that possibility Christian. It cannot be the OS as Win10 and Linux exist on totally different SSD's and each SSD has its own GPL install to run. So, if there is a glitch/conflict it could be within the Bodnar cable,  where I am told that all calibration data is stored. The cables are the only common element that I can see.

If I have to ditch the Bodnar cable it will be a shame because I do like the smoother inputs from the pedals. Logitech G25 gives a range of 0-255 for each pedal, but Bodnar produces a range of 0-1023. Almost 5x the pulses from the potentiometers, so 5x more precise?

Objectively, an accumulation of negatives for the moment towards Linux ... Wink and you have not yet started to look into GTL ... Embarrassed
(Just kidding, I'm on this path too! Wink)
