Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 490s

Baracus has had a spin and is just off the racing line almost facing backwards. Several cars get past safely and then Baracus attempts to rejoin and pulls onto the racing line.
Unfortunately Flybri is coming round the corner and cant avoid Baracus. There is contact and Flybri has a trip through the gravel.
Even though it was difficult for Baracus to see approaching cars it is still much wiser to reverse off the racing line first, rather than taking a risk and rejoining blindly.
Baracus then does the gentlemanly thing and slows up on the next straight to let Flybri through. Penalty reduced to 1 place.

Server replay time: 1950s

Minton outbrakes himself into T9 and is recovering from the gravel, driving alongside the track rejoining at a gradual angle. PaulW and Pedro are fast approaching and just as they pass Minton, with one wheel on the grass, he loses the back end and slides out into their path resulting in heavy contact which flips Minton over.
The rejoin looks completely accidental, the result of Minton losing control rather than deciding to join the track.
However, when driving on the grass on the edge of the track drivers should exercise care and expect the car to slide to one side when accelerating where grip levels are different at each wheel.

Love the track, it has such a nice flow to it. Enjoyed great battles with Jan and Pedro for 80% of the race with regular position swaps but all nice and fair. A driver that had hit the gravel re-joined without looking in front of myself and Pedro though and the impact left me punctured :'(

I'd really love simracing to look again at the issue of points stretching further down the field. With the two league system, very successful I think, in place now the driving is TOUGH right the way through the field. All the better for it but drivers that don't find themselves regularly inside the top 10 are scratching around for little or, more usually, no points on a regular basis now. The driving itself is as enjoyable as ever but it would be better if the majority of the field could enjoy the battle for points and league position against their piers.

First things first - I used to like SimRacing.org.uk league for the fact that at formation lap drivers new how to behave and drove consistently. Now it's a mess like everywhere else.

As always, send any incident reports in and I'll take a look at them.

The track suited the M3 a lot better than Valencia or Brno, no problems with tyre wear this time. Took the safe option of meds, but softs might have lasted. Qualified pretty well in 9th. Was struggling in the traffic early on, having to watch front and back really carefully. A few laps in I got a bit of space and suddenly found a lot more speed. Picked up some places as a few people went off or got tangled up, then passed Radius when he went wide at a hairpin. Was getting Vertigo (the condition, not the car) in 5th place, didn't expect to be up there. Had an excellent scrap with Radius, was fighting for tenths to stay ahead. Very clean racing, we were side-by-side in the hairpins a couple times but gave each other just enough room.

Great result for Team Shark (2 on the podium) and TSJ (2 in the top ten), with Simon fighting his way up from 17th on the grid.  thumbup1 Dead chuffed with my 5th place, I'm not going to get many chances to finish that highly given the level of competition.

Think Valencia produced some good racing. Saw several people make mistakes getting on the power out of the slow corners, giving the car behind a chance to get a run on them.

Edit - thanks for the results & lapchart Picnic & Ruskus.  Smiley

Sudden speed increases and drops, people spinning (hic!), crashing... Terrible! I hope League Overlords will finally do something about it - I don't like the idea of watching my back all the lap instead of warming my tires and brakes.

We don't look at things if they aren't reported...

Unfortunately my hands are largely tied by the gradual shrinking of the field over the season. We already tried (in the Formula Armaroli races) a points system which gives everyone something but where the points at the winning end of the spectrum are determined by field size and that was even more unpopular. In the Academy we're already down to just 18 cars; by the end of the season everybody who turns up will score and that isn't really fair on those who, through no fault of their own, have to miss the last race or two.

Oh yes, @ mo...the little nudge at the hairpin that sent you 45 degrees was totally unintentional.....as i was turning right thru that slow 1st gear left hander...i couldn't see you at the apex although id admit you were a bit stationery there...eve though we both lost two places i did gentlemanly slow down to let you pass again and loose 6 seconds...so i atoned for my actions!

Yes Aargram...tx for fair racing there side by side for the best part of 10 laps. Like myself i knew i could count on you driving like a gentlemen  Wink Just wished i had more praccy and had more top speed...

That was me sorry about that.

Regarding the pace lap,  obviously who ever is on pole dictates the pace....if hes speeding up and braking then people behind will want to keep the gap close and this ends up happening all the way down the grid causing mayhem, Its a a tricky one to solve i think .

I drove a consistent 100kmh. Listen to my engine during the formation lap, you won't hear revs increasing, only decreasing as I was driving in 6th to save fuel. I hope there is a way to prove.

My formation lap lasted 2:52 on a 4,266 km track. That's an average of 89,29 km/h. With that in mind, while watching the replay, you won't see me brake anywhere on a straight or some sorts and you won't see my speed increase/decrease. Weaving and warming up the brakes is what is causing problems, and should be minimalized. If you do those things at the beginning of the lap, it's useless anyway, as it will be cooled down by the end of the lap, and you'll never reach optimum temps anyway, so better drive a nice first lap to get the tyres up and running.

You don't have to report individuals - just file a report that the pace lap was dangerous or poor from your point of view. It's no use expecting the moderators to take action if you can't be bothered to spend two minutes filling out a very simple form! Tongue

On the pace lap, I think the slow hairpins exaggerated the problem. If the car ahead gets on the power half a second earlier they can pull away very rapidly. I had to floor it two or three times to keep up. Most important thing is to get on the brakes early and gently once you start to catch the car ahead. If you brake hard you'll cause a bad concertina effect, and someone is likely to get rear-ended.
