Season 38 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 6 – Privateers - Bremgarten

This race announcement is for the PRIVATEERS.

The sixth race in the 1955 Grand Prix series takes us to Bremgarten in Switzerland. Bremgarten is situated to the north of Bern and was built as a motor cycle track in 1931. The circuit itself had no true straight, instead being a collection of high-speed corners. From the outset, it’s tree-lined roads, often poor light conditions and changes in road surface made for what was acknowledged to be a very dangerous circuit, especially in the wet.

The Swiss Grand Prix was held at Bremgarten between 1934 and 1939 and again between 1947 and 1954. In 1950 the Swiss Grand Prix was included in the new Formula One World Championship. The race was won by Italian Nino Farina, who would go on to be the first Formula One world champion. In 1951 Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio dominated in his Alfa after taking advantage of Farina's wrong decision not to make a pit stop to change tyres during changing wet-to-dry conditions. In 1952 newcomer Stirling Moss ran as high as third in his underfunded Alta-powered HWM, but the race was won by Italian Piero Taruffi who scored his first and only F1 victory. In fact this Grand Prix was only championship race (other than the Indianapolis 500) not won that year by Alberto Ascari. In 1953 Ascari had to make a pit stop to fix the misfiring engine in his Ferrari. He left the pits in fourth place and stormed round the circuit, passing Fangio in a Maserati, and his teammates Farina and Mike Hawthorn to take victory. Ascari also won his second Drivers' Championship at that event. In 1954 Fangio (now driving a Mercedes) led from start to finish in rainy weather to take his second Drivers' Championship from countryman José Froilán González. Bremgarten has not hosted an official motorsports event since 1955, when spectator racing sports were banned in Switzerland.

Me  Roll Eyes.  It is authentic Bernie. These cars actually raced there.

Tip from me, don't waste tokens  Wink It will be a race of attrition not speed.

Hopefully this will inspire you  thumbup1

Beautiful choice Phil, I like theese old road circuit with lots of altitude changes and blind corners Grin @bernie, i think the challenging part of this circuit it's the first sector until Eymatt, particularly on T1 dont' follow the grooved dark line, brake a bit earlier and coast until you can see clearly the " Solex " advertisement ( if you are using the 55 update for the track) and start turning. If you stay inside the car will be stable and you'll have a nice and fast exit. If you follow the dark line you'll start turning too late and with too much speed in the corner, the car will oversteer and even if you manage not to spin you'll find your car bounching against the embankment until the final crash into the barn below the Swiss flag oops
I think the best rule for Bremgarten is slow IN and fast OUT, it's the only way to not crash againt the fences, especially inside the forest.

Thanks for the advice Giovanni , I will look out for it .

It will be great to get through at least one turn without crashing  angel

One good turn deserves another.  The forest section is high speed and almost featureless, so I tap the brakes, and change down a gear at each turn.  Overtakes there will be highly precarious. Shocked

I assume you are referring to UKGPL4? I normally set the maximum latency to 300 mS. I've restarted the server with a max latency of 1000 mS. If you still have problems I'll turn the max latency off but if I do that drivers will have to be more careful about potential warp contact.

Assuming you are connecting via iGOR, what sort of ping value do you see displayed for UKGPL4?

As far as I know, Brazil currently observes Brasília Time (BRT) all year. So that means the qually start time in Brazil will be an hour earlier than usual, i.e. 16:45 (BRT) with the race starting at 17:50 (BRT).

My ping vaules are usualy less than 300 for UKGPL servers. Maybe yesterday not, I didn't check. Today is in 284 average and I connected to UKGPL11 set to 349ms max.

All looks fine Wink
