Something's up there....I finished third even with my dnf for fuel - ran out as I crossed the line but as everyopne behind me was a lap down I showed as third.... I think I'm cursed in the endurance races. Had a good battle at the start with Nug, then managed to pull out a little gap but couldn't close on Loco. Then the pit stop messed up - I was in the very last pit box and I overshot by about a metre, then I reversed to the sight of my pit crew picking up my tyres and walking back into the garage. Turns out the pit exit is DIRECTLY after the last pit box - like completely directly. If you overshoot by even a little bit, it's classed as leaving the pits and you have to go out and do another lap! Be Warned future people of the last pit-box Barely had any fuel left and cruised round on fumes, pitted again, then drove my nuts off. Managed to get the gap down to Mojo to about 9 seconds, then spun....then realised I didn't have enough fuel again and started coasting. Saw the time was up and thought I'd made it, crossed the line with no fuel....and there was another lap to go. Then at the end realised everyone after 1st and 2nd had been lapped anyway, so apparently got third.... ...pending investigation. Good win Loco, v-fast at the start. Sort the parade lap out though....you stuck your limiter on about 100 metres before the start/finish line on the straight...that's too late for the guys at the back mate.

Count down timer got to zero and finished my lap chequered flag appeared and i pulled off the track and hit escape. s**t DNF? What was that all about?
Did you cross the line after the chequered flag was shown? Or did it appear just after you crossed the line? For the race to be over, the clock must be at zero, and the leader must have crossed the line. You have to keep racing until both happen and you also cross the line.

That did seem to happen a bit late, although there was just about time to form up at the back. I think Reign Man left a huge gap behind me though which wasn't really fair on the folks behind him.

See this post. To misquote, to finish third, first you must finish.

Given the lap times there's a 50% chance that the leader had lapped you but not Picnic, in which case the results would be correct - you could finish having done a lap less than Picnic despite not having been lapped by him.

See this post. To misquote, to finish third, first you must finish. So in other words, even though I was the third person to cross the finish line, I'm classified 6th because a DNF messes the system up. If anyone fancies punting me off next race, be my guest. Everything else has happened.

Sounds like a good race was had, I enjoyed the laps I had in the 4 car nGT train that Dave led for the first 7 (8?) laps or so. Sadly I had someone banging urgently at my front door and had to deal with them

Guys,
A very enjoyable race but a respectfull request to the GT guys ( as someone else has mentioned it also! ) I believe the spirit of this event is 2 races in 1 ! One GT and 1 NGT! I had some fantastic racing at the back of the field in my NGT. I was right on the bumper of another NGT, ( Havn't checked the replay to see who exactly! ) for lap after lap after lap. Very enjoyable! but having the GT guys come through lost me loads of time! As an NGT driver I will make every effort to give you guys room ( which I believe I did! ) but this has to be reciprocated! I had a number of minor incidents ( none of which I am going to report ) which were too close for comfort and could easily have seen me off!
Having said that an excellent race and the general standard of racing was good!
( You see the older you get the more of a grumpy old *** !! you become!! )
Thanks all, look forward to the next one!!
M.

See this post. To misquote, to finish third, first you must finish. So in other words, even though I was the third person to cross the finish line, I'm classified 6th because a DNF messes the system up. Yep. If GTR2/GTL would record laps and positions accurately (like rFactor does) we wouldn't have the problem, but it doesn't, so occaisionally we have to make some hard decisions to avoid turning the whole thing into a big, time consuming, error-prone manual process. ps. You weren't the third person to cross the finish line. You never took the chequered flag. That's the problem.

Enzo, as I asked in chat: did you lose a lap to the finish line bug despite having the fix installed? Or did you just lose a lap because the leader passed whilst you were in the pits?

After initial dissapointment with my Qual time, couldn't get anywhere near my PB. I was pleased to move up to 9th fairly soon. Had a couple of metal to metal incidents, having watched the replay my consiouns (god i just cant spell that word) is clear. On the first I passed Jamera on the outside, he flicked over and hit me and spun himself off. The second a yellow Saleen took me out, I lost a few seconds but no places, so not to worried although my pursuit was effectively over for the time. I did cause a bit of carnage at one point (for which I humbly apologise) Came up behind some NGT's for a left hander travelling too fast, locked the brakes and side slided into all five of them. Clipped the rear of one and he spun, fortunately the rest stayed on. Once again to whoever spun, sorry about that, it was my one black mark on a otherwise enjoyable race.
I did have a great battle on a couple of occasions with CE seeing some very close bumper to bumper racing and eventually got ahead of him when he made a mistake. Quite oddly (I thought) towards the end I kept getting blue flags even though there was nobody behind me, quite offputting. Then I got the chequer and couldn't decide whether I had finished or not, I slowed down thinking I had but CE was coming up on me fast, so I figured I had better keep ahead of him. On the last lap there was a car on fire, I dodged round this, CE did the same but immediately after there was another smash and I touched the brakes CE clipped me and spun off. I crossed the line and finally did finish for real. Happy with 6th, although it seems I got 5th in the results?
