Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 283s

At the end of the pace lap, Dan Minton (in third) positions himself so he has a clear view of Radius in the lead, but cannot see the flashing limiter light of FreQ in second. In fact, from the overhead view, he clearly has some overlap with FreQ. Dan goes the moment Radius goes.

This is a clear violation of the starting procedure, and as such I'm issuing an official warning. Dan clearly realises his mistake and appears to think about allowing FreQ to retake second, but then takes the position into Copse.

  • Dan Mintonwarning — premature acceleration on the pace lap
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 318s

Dan Minton appears to be having second thoughts about his start, and flashes his lights to allow FreQ (and Ruskus, who has got ahead of him) past on the Hangar Straight (running onto the grass in the process), but unfortunately then tags the back of FreQ as they enter Stowe, collecting James and tagging FlyBri in the process and forcing Jure ("Petra Skofic") off as well.

For good measure, Dan then half-spins across the track as he rejoins; luckily, everyone else showed enough caution and presence of mind to get through the scene without a major pileup ensuing.

Update: Dan has since reported that his steering wheel came loose on Hangar Straight and he was busy trying to reattach it.

  • Dan Mintonadvice — make sure your equipment is secure before racing!

Server replay time: 3342s

Chunky's mandatory rest stop was a minute short. By convention, triple the difference is added to the race time (not that it makes any difference to the end result).

  • Chunky — short mandatory rest stop — 180.000 seconds added

Server replay time: 4000s

Radius is catching Jan Duijs to lap him as they come out of Club. He flashes him once and closes right up behind as they go into and through Abbey. He flashes again out of Abbey but fails to pull out, giving Jan no real chance to let him by into Bridge, where Radius promptly runs into the back of him.

This was only the second corner after Radius was genuinely close enough to pass, and whilst under normal circumstances he would've been allowed past on the short straight between Abbey and Bridge, it would not have been safe for Jan to slow there with Radius close behind and not further out to the right; in fact, Jan pulls away from Radius during this short straight.

Jan then runs a little too far over the inside curbs in Bridge and slows more than Radius, who has left little room for error, is expecting.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4513s

Reign Man flashes his lights at DMN just before having a look up the inside of him into Abbey.

Flashing a driver who is being raced for position is not normal practice, and indeed most would consider it foolhardy to so clearly announce an attempt at a pass for position.

Had DMN crashed having been distracted by RM's flashing there might have been a question mark of whether said distraction was the intended effect, and whether such behaviour is within the spirit of the league.

  • Reign Manadvice — don't flash your lights to announce an attempted pass for position

Server replay time: 4694s

DMN slows much more in Maggots that Locutos is expecting as he comes up to lap him and the latter runs into the back of the former.

Normally this would be a straight penalty to Locutos, but I'm mindful of the fact that a brief review of DMN's race shows that he was often outbraking himself or running off the track, suggesting a lack of practice or experience, which contributed to his slowness in the difficult Maggots/Beckets corners, and also that Locutos had only a slender lead in NGT. I'm therefore reducing it to a caution.

Server replay time: 5575s

Radius took his mandatory rest stop beginning at 5287s, but ending 12 seconds early at 5575.

Server replay time: 5627s

Beholder is lapping DMN as they exit Woodcote, but misjudges the distance and his closing speed and clips the back of Dave's car, putting the TVR into the wall.

It's hard to be sure, and Dave doesn't mention it in his report, but it sounds in the replay as if Dave breathes off the throttle when he reaches the straight, without giving Beholder a chance to actually pull out to pass him. Certainly the closing speed suddenly seems to increase as Beholder exits Woodcote.

I am therefore reducing any penalty to a caution.

Server replay time: 5730s

Having gone off at Abbey, Beholder finds himself back behind DMN again. Dave lets Jan Duijs by in Brooklands by running all the way to the outside of the corner, but cuts back in as Beholder tries to follow through.

This is an unnecessary incident and both drivers could and should have left more room for each other.

I had a great first 60 mins, trying to keep up with Mooman and keep Gizmo behind. I seemed to keep getting the better of the traffic which allowed me to do that.
Gizmo got me around the 50 min mark as I made a mistake through Copse corner and he could blast past.
Came in at the 60 min mark as I got a tyres warn warning and thats where it started to go wrong, was clobbered from behind as I sat doing my 5 mins stop (luckily no damage, only a scare) Drove into the pit lane to find someone else sitting in my box!, Had to go round again and that cost me so much time I never saw the NGT's I was fighting with in the first half again. Lonely old race after that only the GT's kept it interesting.
Love the distance but don't like the 5 min stop!!
Can we have more of these please, and btw what a great track should be on the regular calendar.

Funny Cheesy some of you GT's saying hold your line and keep racing! If I had done that all the time last night I think I would of had a few trips to the sand. Most of us know when to back off and leave room and insure a clean pass. Easier sometimes to just let the GT car go, you end up losing less time and avoid any lock ups or hairy moments! Wink
(Edit) Saying all that I think the GT drivers were spot on last night.

NP Flybri, I had lost sight of you as well!

Seeing as this was a fun race, I'm assuming we can openly discuss incidents....

No you can't, for the same reason we don't discuss them for championship races - we don't want to see the forums descend into finger pointing and flaming. If you have a problem with another driver's on-track behaviour, please submit an incident report as normal so that the moderators can look at it and, if necessary, take action to prevent it happening again.

Actually I need to say thanks for giving me room when I ran off at one point! Grin

Thanks to the NGT's again, I dunno how you guys are so polite. Some even drove off the road to let GT's by?!? You guys have as much right to be there as anyone else. Stick to your line and we'll find a way past Smiley

I ran off a few times letting people by but it was never deliberate! laugh Sometimes I was just offline or unsighted, sometimes I just plain ran out of talent. angel

The NGT guys were amazing, i had a spin with "the silver porsche" coz he was being tooo kind Cheesy He always slowed right up when he spotted me but slowing that much with the speed difference and especially on a cnr is very unpredictable....but he meant well!

@ Gizmo..when i lapped u last time round i wasnt flashing at you but at Gerald...saying thanks for him giving way in a GT car..coz you seemed to flash me like 5 times (probably out of frustration Grin Grin Grin)

Can we have more of these please, and btw what a great track should be on the regular calendar.

I said i would only run this race if it was Silverstone and i was spot on!!!  Tongue

We went through Maggots/Bekkets like 60 odd times and every time i just loved it!

Also regarding the 5 minute stop....i felt it was a good for a break but i was frustrated as hell sitting there and not knowing what was then unfolding in the race. Very confusing!

I think i might have gone 4 or 5 laps down that way and wasnt sure at all what was happening in the race. Also with some drivers doing one stoppers its even more confusing (didnt know some cars could do a one stop race!)

I was so lost regarding placement that i didnt know if to push or just not stress the car that much Huh As you can see , ol Russie pushed a bit too hard Cheesy and due to my ZERO experience in the lambo i wasnt sure how it would do over a 2hour race.

So although i agree with a break, 5 minutes seemed long (FOR ME!) as i just wanted to get back out on track...and it was so funny seeing 5 cars just parked there with yellow flags being shown Smiley

What do others think about the 5 minute thing?Huh?

@ Radius: then it must have been FreQ that came screaming down my neck after 1st lap carnage. What a pace! And yes, you're right, race day tends to be different than practice is. But no problem, I'm glad I've finished the race, drove defensively as planned (OK, a bit too much tbh, realistically podium finish was up for grabs, but hey, better luck next time). GTR2 PD installed, no more wrong fuel tactics. Ever. Live and learn. Still, not bad for a 3 full distance offline races + 3 sprint races online history noob. I'll be on my former Geoff Crammonds GP level... soon. Wink  Grin

@FlyBri: yourself and Kerr should listen to my mental waves next time. Was stuck behind you guys whole 1st stint, 2-3 secs behind, enjoying the view and waiting for "oooops, what a mistakata makeata", but somehow it didn't happen. Same thing happened in last laps, simply ran out of time to hunt you down. Perhaps... next time? Wink

Anyway, thanks again for all the racing, I went to bed very happy (Fell asleep 2 hrs later. Adrenalin rush effect  Roll Eyes ). Can't wait for Donington.

Perhaps a full race distance (100%, 3 hrs) fun race would be an option with this newly implemented 5 mins restop (I liked it, btw, gives you time to clear your mind plus it's weird, just the way we like it Tongue )

Gizmo, which group should I start aiming to drive in? Academy or masters (GT only, NGT are... emm...well, you know... slow wheel carts, hihi )?

I think it was me jure who came flying pass you and through the carnage.
Just as the race started, my missus came in and started talking to me.
I totally lost focus of the race as i turned to tell her to bugger off.
When i looked back at the screen cars were spinning all over the place.
And i was heading at them at full pelt.
I thought it was all over.
Then like moses parting the waves a gap appeared so i kept the pedal down.
I then went from 12th to about 5th.
But i had a poor setup because of lack of practice.
And was soon back where i started.
Struggled until i made my last pitstop.
Changed to softs and put in 13minutes worth of fuel.
Came out of the pits in 8th.
And the car felt as if someone had stuck it on rails and put a rocket on its ass.
I was buzzing then cause i had closed the gap between me and the next position by 2 seconds after only completing half a lap on my out lap.
Then just before i got to the second time check my engine gave out.
I was gutted.
Any way great race.
Any thought on another super endurance.

Beholder

By the way jure, sorry if i scared the b-jesus out of you.
At that point you could crack walnuts between my bum cheeks

Good race overall. I quite like multi catagory races as you have to be more aware of being lapped and lapping other cars. Only had one minor nudge about lap 20 being lapped by about 4 gt cars don't think it was anyones fault just to many cars and to little track.

I liked the 5 min break gave me a chance to get up and stretch out a bit as my chair isn't to comfy.

Thanks again for the race

was it just me (during the 5 min break), but once i had been for me dunnie break, had a stretch etc and was sitting waiting for 5mins to elapse, i kept getting the urge to press escape so i could watch other ppl on the pit monitor. About 3 times i had stop myself from doing it!!!  laugh

Would have been pretty gutted if after an hr and a half i escaped!

@Jure, was good, close racing all the way through mate. I just couldnt get past B.Kerr on the 1st stint, which kinda compromised my strategy for rest of race especially against him.....

I enjoyed that race!  Grin

...except for when I hit a lapping GT car (Sorry Gerald) Embarrassed, then got hit. Other than that a pretty uneventful race.

I was able to overtake  Darren in his RSR on the first lap. Tried to keep up with Gizmo, but after a few laps he found his racing legs and began pull away. After that it was pretty lonely and I attempted to string together some consistant laps. My lap times were all over the place as usual.

Was extremely happy about the 5 min pit stop gave me a chance to rest my hand and flex my fingers as they had began to cramp. I hope this will remain in any future races that may take place, I don't think I would have been able to get to the end without that break. It's hard not to grip the Joystick to tightly when racing. Undecided

Took longer than 5 mins to rest up my hand and lost a place to DMN but was able to get that back in the last half of the race.

Apart from being lapped and getting blinded briefly by a blown engine Wink it was pretty quiet second half, even so I still enjoyed it greatly!

I just wished I had the outright pace to keep up with the guys in front.

Oh well! Good race, I hope there will be more

My apologies for bailling out during qualifying, we had some unexpected guests who I couldn't really avoid by staying online, I thought it'd be better to bail and let someone else get in quickly.

Absolutely gutted, I was really looking forward to that race :'(

Hi Reignman sorry for braking so hard but was about to total a porsch when I got back into the action my brakes were a bit stressed and as I tried to squeez past you with out spinning it we made contact. Sorry also to the porsch for same reason. Ps did anyone have a really bad warp going through the vale i lost the cars around me and took to the grass. Always a bit of stutter in that area all though the race.cheers gerald ps the saleen was so good on fuel I could have done 2 stops with the fuel load. Shame about rear tyres and brakes. should have stuck to lambo?
