Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 283s

At the end of the pace lap, Dan Minton (in third) positions himself so he has a clear view of Radius in the lead, but cannot see the flashing limiter light of FreQ in second. In fact, from the overhead view, he clearly has some overlap with FreQ. Dan goes the moment Radius goes.

This is a clear violation of the starting procedure, and as such I'm issuing an official warning. Dan clearly realises his mistake and appears to think about allowing FreQ to retake second, but then takes the position into Copse.

  • Dan Mintonwarning — premature acceleration on the pace lap
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 318s

Dan Minton appears to be having second thoughts about his start, and flashes his lights to allow FreQ (and Ruskus, who has got ahead of him) past on the Hangar Straight (running onto the grass in the process), but unfortunately then tags the back of FreQ as they enter Stowe, collecting James and tagging FlyBri in the process and forcing Jure ("Petra Skofic") off as well.

For good measure, Dan then half-spins across the track as he rejoins; luckily, everyone else showed enough caution and presence of mind to get through the scene without a major pileup ensuing.

Update: Dan has since reported that his steering wheel came loose on Hangar Straight and he was busy trying to reattach it.

  • Dan Mintonadvice — make sure your equipment is secure before racing!

Server replay time: 3342s

Chunky's mandatory rest stop was a minute short. By convention, triple the difference is added to the race time (not that it makes any difference to the end result).

  • Chunky — short mandatory rest stop — 180.000 seconds added

Server replay time: 4000s

Radius is catching Jan Duijs to lap him as they come out of Club. He flashes him once and closes right up behind as they go into and through Abbey. He flashes again out of Abbey but fails to pull out, giving Jan no real chance to let him by into Bridge, where Radius promptly runs into the back of him.

This was only the second corner after Radius was genuinely close enough to pass, and whilst under normal circumstances he would've been allowed past on the short straight between Abbey and Bridge, it would not have been safe for Jan to slow there with Radius close behind and not further out to the right; in fact, Jan pulls away from Radius during this short straight.

Jan then runs a little too far over the inside curbs in Bridge and slows more than Radius, who has left little room for error, is expecting.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4513s

Reign Man flashes his lights at DMN just before having a look up the inside of him into Abbey.

Flashing a driver who is being raced for position is not normal practice, and indeed most would consider it foolhardy to so clearly announce an attempt at a pass for position.

Had DMN crashed having been distracted by RM's flashing there might have been a question mark of whether said distraction was the intended effect, and whether such behaviour is within the spirit of the league.

  • Reign Manadvice — don't flash your lights to announce an attempted pass for position

Server replay time: 4694s

DMN slows much more in Maggots that Locutos is expecting as he comes up to lap him and the latter runs into the back of the former.

Normally this would be a straight penalty to Locutos, but I'm mindful of the fact that a brief review of DMN's race shows that he was often outbraking himself or running off the track, suggesting a lack of practice or experience, which contributed to his slowness in the difficult Maggots/Beckets corners, and also that Locutos had only a slender lead in NGT. I'm therefore reducing it to a caution.

Server replay time: 5575s

Radius took his mandatory rest stop beginning at 5287s, but ending 12 seconds early at 5575.

Server replay time: 5627s

Beholder is lapping DMN as they exit Woodcote, but misjudges the distance and his closing speed and clips the back of Dave's car, putting the TVR into the wall.

It's hard to be sure, and Dave doesn't mention it in his report, but it sounds in the replay as if Dave breathes off the throttle when he reaches the straight, without giving Beholder a chance to actually pull out to pass him. Certainly the closing speed suddenly seems to increase as Beholder exits Woodcote.

I am therefore reducing any penalty to a caution.

Server replay time: 5730s

Having gone off at Abbey, Beholder finds himself back behind DMN again. Dave lets Jan Duijs by in Brooklands by running all the way to the outside of the corner, but cuts back in as Beholder tries to follow through.

This is an unnecessary incident and both drivers could and should have left more room for each other.

LOL TT, I wondered what the bloody hell was going on. U were at the rest stop when I arrived, my lap clock said 1:54 so I exit at 6:54...and u were still sat there. I thought, balls, Ive messed this up big time, then I see Dave and start thinking either he aint stopped or TT has ballsed up. Had a great scrap with TT in the 1st half and an even better scrap with Dave in the 2nd half. Was bloody awesome and some excellent driving. Cheers Dave and congrats on the win m8.

Wow great first half of the race.  Grin

Then a driver who I'm racing for postion with decides to flash his headlights at me too put me off  nono

An nGT car knocks me off track causing me to lose a postion while lapping me  thumbdown

Then a GT car does it twice within two laps   dots

Those 3 points aside, the other drivers displayed some very good driving, so well done to them.

Grats to Radius!
Commiserations to Ruskus Sad

Somehow a terrible race was rescued to become quite a good one. Smiley
The 5 minute stop is a godsend - was ready to burst when I took it!
Thanks to the NGT's again, I dunno how you guys are so polite. Some even drove off the road to let GT's by?!? You guys have as much right to be there as anyone else. Stick to your line and we'll find a way past Smiley

Also, soz for the start - I had brain fade and hit my pit limiter button way too late and gave Radius a jump Sad
I'm really keen to see the replay file, I have no idea what happened down at the end of the Hanger Straight on lap 1, all I know is I ended up facing backwards and half way down the field with almost no damage?!

My endurance curse semi-struck tonight Wink

WOW what fun!!! My first ever race in the lambo Cheesy  Grin

Did a quali lap and was heading for a 2nd tour with tires optimum when i see smoke!!! lol

Esc as not to distract anybody els and check radiator...hmmm but its at 3...why did it blow? Then i click the arrow and see that it goes till 5 in the lambo  dots stupid

So set out again and this time monstered it through Maggots/Bekkets, flat through Bridge and lots of speed through Priory..that was a real buzz and got pole with seven minutes left which i was sure couldn't be beaten Cheesy So took a nice long toilet break  Cheesy  Grin

Race was going great till the Enduro bug of lapping cars crept in!  Cheesy For me it was very 50/50 through the traffic but drivers were always willing and thats awesome!

Then when i took my 5 miute stop i got up a bit as my right foot was crampping a bit and im finding it a bit hard to be smooth on the throttle..got back to seat with 1 minute to wait, calculated fuel needed and contemplating not changing rears to make up time on leader, luckily i decided to switch car views and see where everyone is and then seeing Ruskus sitting next to the road chatting up the marshals lol so could safely make as long a stop as needed!!

Was having so much fun! Thanks for organising this great event!!!! I love Enduros Cheesy

My first ever race with you guys and first 2 hour race too and i fair enjoyed it. Happy with my 3rd place.

What tactics should i be using? I was too scared to really go for it in case car never lasted?

Managed a one stop race using medium tyres and 100 litres of fuel and not going hard on the revs.

Any tips, help and especially information on set ups would help me loads

Right.

Congrats to Radius (hope you did it on my setup  Cool  Grin ) and rest of the podium, that's for starters. Hats off, great pace.

Started well, got to the right side of the track early enough to avoid the pile up caused by FreQ being sleepy at start/finish line Grin and squeezed into 5th position, but lost it on Hangar straight to a red ferrari, clearly running much lower rear wing, so I decided to play it safe and simply gave way to avoid possible carnage. Which, as luck has it, was developing right in front of us  Grin Lots of spinning&expensive metal in the middle of the corner persuaded me to brake and got off the track, rejoined in 8th, although passing those 3 in the pile up.  Grin

A Lambo, perhaps Radius (you were in the above mentioned race incident, right?) came on me so fast I also accepted his offer to put me a place down without any opposition or remorse, since I spun out the instant I made the decision to let him by anyway Roll Eyes) Grin  Then drove a steady race behind two ferraris but couldn't touch them. Tyres gave up on me 6-7 laps before pits (100L + 100L + whatever needed strategy) and lost 3-4 secs per lap. Twice, of course, since same thing happened on next stint.  Roll Eyes

Rejoined after 1st pit right in front of the leader, turns out green ferrari in the mirror was my opposition, leader was the red one behind him, myself not realising the situation so I let both go by. Roll Eyes Steadied myself right behind the leader, but slowly lost my nerve since I was clearly faster. After several obvious "hey, i'm here, ready when you are" in the mirrors and with leader clearly in trouble (suspect he was empty but out of grip) I thought we had an agreement I can go by so I passed him on the entrance to pit straight, but got nudged in the butt by 550 due to my high wing settings and his... not high wing setting  Grin  Whomever it was, it was my fault, should have stayed behind few more laps, although that green 550 was going away (hence the hurry Roll Eyes

Spun on the middle of the pit straight, leader luckily stayed in shape and moved on, myself facing opposite direction, of course. Rejoined fast enough, then drove rather uneventful stint (I think  Grin ) contemplating what an idiot I am for not going 1/3, 1/3, 5min stop and rest of fuel load strategy. Lost 20 secs, again, due to worn tyres, but not as bad as in first sting (nurtured them  Grin ).

Stopped for much awaited 5 mins reststop (think sandblaster  angel ), miscalculated again (finished with 19 L of fuel to spare) and started to chase whomever I had to chase at the time. Which I did, got past god knows who some 4-5 laps before finish line (perhaps a TVR? Maybe I was "the blinker" to someone who gave way few laps before finish - if yes, sorry mate, had no idea, all I went for were that 550 and saleen in front towards which I was gaining 2 secs a lap at the time. Hope it's OK, we both realise I'd get by in those laps left, right?  angel), then ran out of time to pass green ferrari (him being slower due to saleen entertaining some serious left front tyre trouble, I suspect Cheesy ).

Analysis: All in all, lost 60 seconds to bad strategy (bad lap times on worn tyres plus lack of race pace due to 2 much fuel onboard) , 5 places due to carnage in lap 1 and 35 seconds to mistakes during the race and that's it. I'm happy, hope it was good race for everyone, had LOADS of fun. (Pitty for that vette going up in smoke, I went "f***, not while in the lead".)

Last but not least, was surprised by NGT drivers (guys, there is no need to go off to let us by, c'mon, race your race). Extremely happy with light blinking and general gentlemanship. Very cool.

P5 is cool for race 1, Tarzan happy.  Grin

Replay and results available. If you're a new driver please check the results to make sure your entry is shown against the correct forum name.

The start was a bit weird. The guy infront disengaged the limiter, so I floored it as well, but then the guy infront of that was slower for some reason, so I slowed down again, thinking I was too quick with the limiter.

There was strange stuff going on all the way down the field - the car in front of me went and so did I, then he checked up so I had to do the same. It was all a bit too hectic - I guess we had quite a few new faces who didn't fully understand how the start is supposed to work.

Had a great scrap with TT in the 1st half and an even better scrap with Dave in the 2nd half. Was bloody awesome and some excellent driving. Cheers Dave and congrats on the win m8.

It was absolutely the best scrap I ever remember having in an Endurance race and it happened at totally the opposite end of the race to normal! After the start things settled down very quickly and I very slowly pulled away from Reign Man's TVR but could make no real impression on the cars ahead. Just before the race I looked at the track temperature and decided to put in an extra 10 litres of fuel and do a longer first stint so I didn't have to drive the last 20 minutes on really worn tyres.

It worked out brilliantly - stopped with 50:38 left on the clock and rolled out towards my pits on the dot of 45:38 having had a nice relaxing 5 minute break and with little more than a normal sprint race left to do.

Came out to find Locutos behind - assumed he was in a GT as usual but as he drew closer I realised he was in a 911 and that it really was a fight for position - and probably a podium place too, although TT looked to have the NGT win sewn up. Struggled for pace for a few laps letting Loc by but could see he was pushing really hard, and then was able to catch him after he had a couple of moments. We traded places numerous times, sometimes through our own mistakes and sometimes after one or the other was baulked by lapping cars or backmarkers.

Other than one time when I think I may have been a bit too forceful going into Abbey it was an absolutely top draw battle and I was so relieved when the chequered flag came out with under litres of gas left and my wrists utterly knackered, not to mentioned gobsmacked when the results confirmed that thanks to TT's blown engine I had taken an unexpected class win! Grin Grin Grin

I was really pleased to see a full field turn out  Cool although it was disappointing to see three people disconnect in the first 15 minutes, since there were people waiting in the lobby hoping to get a spot. Undecided

c'mon, race your race

I would have raced but I was against myself! I just wanted to get some sort of nice tempo going and get some steady lap times. Tires were shot too soon but my fuel was a little heavy.

It was great being amongst everyone and apologies again for being a nuisance!

Grin

Anything else you forgot  Wink Grin Grin

Was surprised to only see you after 50 odd laps, when we were practicing together u had lots of pace but as i told you then...come race time it all changes drastically Cheesy:D (oh and yes i used your setup as im a total Lambo n00b!)

No that Lambo wasnt me, i was P1 and when i looked in my mirrors after hangar straight i saw the mess..pity it took allot away from the race! From the replay i saw Minton on the grass down the striaght  Shocked Huh and when he joined he was pointing 45 degrees and spun out freQ and then the mayhem  Grin

That left only me and Rus left Sad .....but anyway was one of the best races for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time!

Tx for results post!

Can't sleep after all that, so thought I'd check the replay out  Grin

Started well, got to the right side of the track early enough to avoid the pile up caused by FreQ being sleepy at start/finish line Grin
Yes, yes, I'm sorry. Disengaged my limiter too late and caused a bit of confusion - I got punished for it straight away as Dan Minton steamed past me into Copse. Doh!

Seeing as this was a fun race, I'm assuming we can openly discuss incidents....So I have to ask what on earth were you doing on Hanger Straight Dan? You slowed down, flashed your headlights, drove onto the grass, let Ruskus and me through and then ran into the back of me at Stowe. At the time I had no idea what had happened and just assumed someone had got in too hot...but watching you on the replay has me very confused  Huh

Don't take this too seriously, only a fun race - just curious and frustrated as me and Radius were 0.03 apart in qualy, and after the first stint, were almost identical on race times too.

That'll teach me for messing up my starts!  Lips Sealed

Absolutely awesome race, started 8th and after 1st lap incidents i gained 4 places, within a whisker of being taken out by someone in one of the incidents, he was sitting stationary 90 degrees to the traffic when he decided to move forward right in my path sooooo close, was behind B.Kerr for all of my first stint (great racing mate) i was slightly faster and hounded him all the way (now know he was running alot more fuel!) in that stint but couldnt get by, meanwhile there were cars chasing us down.

Pitted after 45 mins came out 8th and soon realised others were one stopping including B.Kerr, anyway kept plugging away trying to be consistant in lapimes, done my next stop with 20 mins to go, taking my 5 min stop also (much needed strech of the old legs etc) last stint made some placed back while others pitted, but was being hunted down by a lambo (Jure??) in the last few laps. I did have a good 12 sec lead over lambo after he came out the pits but due to me being a bit erratic and cooking my tyes and some traffic he got it down to within a couple of secs. Held 4th place to the end which i was very pleased with and didnt make any big mistakes  angel.

Like already said, thanks to all the cars being lapped for letting the GTs through. Cant be easy while trying to run your own race......Sorry to Don for swapping door paint at one of the chicanes, mis understanding mate, didnt mean to make conatct and also a sorry to Dave G who i held up while he was battling with Locutos near the end, i didnt know where you were as i was passing so i had to come of throttle and leave room for you as i didnt want to take you out. Would normally have been more patient but my tyres were cooked and had a Lambo chasing me down.....

Hope we can do this again  Cool
