Season 38 FUN – Jim Clark Revival F2 – Hockenheim

07.04.1968 was a sad day at Hockenheim, I watched the F2 race in the Sachskurve and remember the VW Ambulance...
In the following years this F2 event was called Jim Clark Revival and run as long this F2 championship existed.
Read about the memorial today

We will do 2 short races in memoriam Jim Clark

Race List =  IGOR

Is it free choice of car?

I was planning to take the Lotus for both races.

missed the first race. Hope all went well.

2nd race was great fun. thanks mods for setting these races up.

had a clean and good drive. only problem was using the Ferrari.  had a nice stable setup, but could not get a decent top speed out of it. I tried to max out the revs in top but it wasnt fast enough with no safety in hand for getting a tow and a higher top gear gave me better speed WITH a tow !! but then it bogged down out in the open air. LOL.

only frustrating thing was watching everyone sail past me on the straights.. no wonder it was a Lotus and Matra fest.

what top speed were you guys getting. best i saw with a tow was 168MPH

During race one with the crappy M10 BMW engine only 262/264 kmh in clean air and 280 kmh with the tow and a long 5th Gear, in race 2 with the matra 270 kmh clean and 280 kmh with a slipstream, but i set up the 5th Gear a bit too short for race.

Cookie,

That was a really good format for a fun event. The pit stop for Pro's made it interesting & slipstreaming on this circuit with F2 cars was very entertaining.

Unfortunately both my races went the same way - caught up in an accident on Lap 1 followed by an unforced error on lap 2.

Also good to see full grids. We should do this again.

Enjoyed some close racing with Dave & Bill and a few others , great going into the stadium 3 abreast at times until someone decided to share my piece of tarmac.

Thanks for organising the best fun race since the old Monza pu races of yestertear  Grin
