Season 38 1965F1 – Round 7 – Amateurs - Sandown 1968

Round 7 finds us in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. To be precise in the suburb of Springvale, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) south east of the city centre. Sandown Raceway was first opened in 1962. The opening meeting, held on 11 and 12 March, featured the Sandown International Cup, which was contested by world-famous international drivers including Jack Brabham, Jim Clark, Stirling Moss, Bruce McLaren and John Surtees. A second Sandown International Cup was held in 1963. The race that became the Sandown 500 was held for the first time in 1964. The circuit hosted its first Australian Touring Car Championship race in 1965. A round of the annual Tasman Series was held at Sandown from 1964 to 1975. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s the race meetings continued to attract international stars along with the best of Australia's drivers. Australia's traditional Holden/Ford rivalry really surfaced at the track in the late 1960s and through the 1970s with drivers such as Norm Beechey, Ian Geoghegan, Allan Moffat, Bob Jane, Colin Bond and Peter Brock and continues to the present day. From 1968 to 1980 almost every major touring car race held at the circuit was won be those driving either a Holden or a Ford.

Having real trouble with this track.

Horrible graphics, blurry mirrors with AI cars showing octagonal wheels. Lots of the billboards are just plain colours.

I have updated to the Jack Sellars graphics and track looks better. This has fixed mirror and car problem. But now Dunlop Bridge and other parts of the track have lost objects. Most just single colour.

I've tried OGLV2 & D3DV2 . Both useless.

Any ideas???

Have you got trackside objects turned off in in-game graphic settings?

The track is perfect for me. I'm pretty sure I have the standard track installed. Have you got the graphics options in GPL turned right down by mistake?

Something very strange has happened. My last 3 posts are missing? Anyway, the answer is that Paul has downloaded the wrong version. We are using the Sand68 version, just follow the link in the race announcement  Wink

Having real trouble with this track.
<snip!>
Any ideas???

No good ideas,  but just checking - are other tracks fine with 1965 cars?

If so, maybe try renaming your current tracks\sand68 folder to something else (sand68.old for example) & re-download/install?
Don't add the dedicated server addon Smiley

I'm having trouble with this track, but due to ability...

Good luck!

Cheers,
Dave.

I've zipped up my installation of the track, it is here. I suggest you try downloading and unzipping that in your tracks directory (just rename your current Sand68 directory to Sand68_old or something). At least we will know you have the same track installation.

The graphics should look something like mine:

Paul, I've just realised, you've downloaded the wrong Sandown. We are using the Neil Lowe version, track directory is Sand68. Just follow the link in the race announcement.

Pete, Phil & Dave

Thanks lads for all your help. Sorry I was unable to answer earlier..

Ok. First thing, I have had the correct track since last night. = Sand68.

First thing I will admit is I had been training with the wrong one.. Oops.

Did try the server version by mistake.. awful. I like the std one aprt from the mentioned graphics issues. The main thing I think I prefer is the road surface of the upgrade. Otherwise the std one looks like a dirt track.

Will try your Sand68 folder as soon as I'm home. thanks Phil.

Ah - I had posted this in the Pro event!
--
Grrr!  GPL locked up at the end of practice,  I'd just gone out for one more lap & it locked up as I crossed the line.

If it had not taken so long for task manager to show up & close it down, I may have just sneaked in.

Looks as though others may still be in there so hopefully ok for the rest of you.

But as I can see similar posts - maybe not all well...
