Season 38 - SC67 - Lola vs Ferrari Cup – Round 7 - Road America WIPRound 6 of the S38 Lola vs Ferrari Cup will be at Road America in the USA. The track covers 640 acres (2.6 km2) within Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine. It is near the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive and has hosted races since September 1955. It currently hosts over 400 events a year. Road America has not been modified and retains its original configuration of 4.048 miles (6.515 km) in length and consisting of 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph (320 km/h) may be reached. One of the best known features of this course is a demanding right hand turn known as "the kink." Road America's open seating allows spectators to venture throughout the grounds. Grandstands are available in several locations, as well as permanent hillside seating where crowds of more than 150,000 can be accommodated. Please check the Season 38 details regarding rules and the Lola vs Ferrari Cup pages in particular. In order to add an element of realism, and to hopefully reduce the possibility of rear-end incidents, the brake light patch will be used Race List | = | IGOR | Server | = | UKGPL_8 | IP Address | = | TBA | Race date | = | 23-04-2021 | | GPL mod | = | SC67 - Lola / Ferrari only | 60fps patch | = | 60fpsV2newmod | Track dir | = | roadamer | Quali starts | = | 20:45 UK time -> 45min | Race starts | = | ~21:30 UK time | Race length | = | ~50 min -> 21 laps | Damage Model | = | Intermediate | Replay | = | here | Handicapping"Works" drivers will carry extra weight in form of 10 gallons of race fuel (to remain in the tank after the race). No limit in quali! Drivers are expected to behave in a fair and gentlemanly fashion and declare how much fuel they have left after the race. In order to ensure there will be ~10 gallons of fuel left after the race, the minimum race fuel load for Works is expected to be: - Lola T70 = 28 gallons (~106 litres)
- Ferrari P4 = 29 gallons (~110 litres)
2 x resets will be allowed there is no need to carry out a Stop and Go in the pit lane if you make a Shift-R. Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty. I got a screen freeze while leading on lap 2. It was going to be interesting to see if the two cars behind me could keep up and if Mark and Tristan could catch me. I hope others weren't disconnected.

I had some fun for a few laps there with Cookie and Phil before I threw myself onto the grass on the last bend. I'm getting more comfortable in the Sports Cars now and pleased to get to the end on the lead lap. Grats to podium with those ludicrous laptimes. See you all next time.

It was a bit of a race to see who could throw me out. 4 exits caused by other pilots plus a couple of my own mistakes. So the result could not be better. Behind Paul V. my car don't gain speed with the slipstream, not understood. Next 2 races i use the Lola but since I have odd number of races wich car i must use for the last?

Yes such a shame Greg, you would have been part of a trio infernale wich remained a duo...
The rest seems very close and the handicap worked perfect imo. I had allways 10gal more than the guys around me, had to risk more and made some mistakes, but was all the time busy. Great fun!

Shame about Gregs disco.. seemed a solid server for the rest of us. Had a really good steady race. stayed on the track for most of the race no spins. had some really good racing particularly with Francesco.. good stuff. I noticed you had trouble slipstreaming me, otherwise you had a little more speed than me at the rest of the track. shame about our little coming together. I didnt think you were that far up my inside. all in all. great fun. Im getting to grips with these cars, slowly but surely.

An insidious track, wide cars and a lot of Hp to manage, just the perfect mix. I made small mistakes here and there that cost me a lot but was nice and the last 5 laps were really really hot. @ Doni, you blocked me several times changing your line when i was attempting to overtake you and could be ok because I know it's racing and we all don't want to give up, but waving on the straights multiple times it's really unfair.... @ Phil what an amazing last lap , we were both on the limit and it was an incredible fight, i don't know how i managed to brake with half of the car on the grass and you on the side! Congrats to the podium, steamroller pace

Sorry Fran, one of them was me. I was working my way back up the order after having been punted off myself. I was a long way back and gave you (what I thought was) plenty of room but you braked earlier than I expected. I ended up gently tapping you and sending you into a spin. I waited for you to recover before continuing. Hope it didn't ruin your race.

Frankly speaking it was the most damaging as I lost a lot of positions . but in any case it is not a problem as I have no great ambitions in this series.

At Road America, good times were to be had, by both the good and the brave. I sussed myself to be only of the semi-brave, and was provided a rearward grid spot, where a good result would be a matter of survival, amongst a treacherous, and twitcherous foe. Happily, a well sorted Lola, allowed a couple of spots to be quickly gained, without bloodshed, and I was fortunate enough to squeeze past some leading debris, a few laps into the breach, to gain some more race space, to suppliment ye race pace. An unlikely podium suddenly beckoned, with the way forward blocked only by a Fulvious Lola. As a polite and semi-brave GT guest driver, I bravely let him escape. And while searching for the track towards race end, politely waved a Lolar-ized Phillipe through, as he seemed in rather a hurry. A P5 was a good result pour moi. High quality track - high quality race, for the good and the semi-brave.

My race was great till lap 16. At the start I have benefited from the coming-together of Mark and Tristan and the unfortunate screen freeze of Greg handed me over the first place. I could manage to stay in front and I found some confidence after a few laps despite the very heavy fuel load. After a while Mark and Tristan filled up my mirrors but I was able to defend myself for a while, also because both battled each other while chasing me. Once I saw a very impressive incident between them in my mirror. Either Mark or Tristan's car flipped several times and I thought their cars might be damaged enough to offer me a chance for a victory. But only a lap later they caught me again and Mark soon did a superb overtake in turn 3. Tristan was soon to follow and I settled in P3. During lap 16 I locked the brakes approaching Canada Corner and somehow avoided spinning the car only to overshoot the corner with the result of parking my car at the top of the hay bales. Only way to get going again was a shift r. I had to wait till 3 cars passed me before I was able to reset the car (P6 then). But afterwards my car was just too heavy and everyone behind me was closing in and overtaking me. I succeed in protecting my position once or twice but most of the time there was not much I could do. Once Axel started a brave overtaking maneuver at Morraine Sweep that took me a bit by surprise so that I instantly touched my brakes in fear of a coming together. I think this might have caused Giovanni loosing control of his car as he was at my tail at that moment. Sorry for that. All in all I am disappointed with my performance as a P3 was on the table. I still struggle with the GT cars. Brakes are much different from the 67 cars and I tend to lock the brakes more often. On top I never get more than 100 degree Celsius into the tires (optimum should be 120). However, I liked the track very much, great looking, nice flow and difficult braking zones before Canada Corner and turn 5.

Sorry to hear about any possible virus problems. I have been having other issues with sendspace, for the last 4 or 5 races I've been unable to download any of the replays. Usually says it can't find the file, After it finds the file, when I try to download its says download has started but then just stops.
